The video was fun! White people got mildly mocked as much as the black folks. How is a SOFA racially oriented? A damned sofa? The commercial was hilarious because a store where "black people and white people buy furniture" is about as silly as "an open space where black people and white people breathe a mix of oxygen, nitrogen and minute amounts of other gasses." You people clearly do not fully understand the complex and sometimes subtle meanings of the word "racist." While this video is humorous, it also brings up the delicate subject of race. It points out, subtly the inequality that exists between these two races in this country. If it didn't, people wouldn't find it funny, they would find it normal. So to exploit that inequality is in a small way a form of racism itself. I don't think they hate blacks or are knowingly prejudiced.
But bringing up the fact that some people have lighter skin and some people have darker skin doesn't at all point toward inequality. It's the same as saying "Where redheads and brunettes buy furniture". I'm not saying that redheads and brunettes aren't equal, I'm just saying that they both buy furniture here!
Just because at one point in the history of the world, races weren't considered equal doesn't mean that we shouldn't recognize skin color! It's something we should be proud of!

The video was fun! White people got mildly mocked as much as the black folks. How is a SOFA racially oriented? A damned sofa? The commercial was hilarious because a store where "black people and white people buy furniture" is about as silly as "an open space where black people and white people breathe a mix of oxygen, nitrogen and minute amounts of other gasses." It's stating the obvious in a really funny way.

You people clearly do not fully understand the complex and sometimes subtle meanings of the word "racist." While this video is humorous, it also brings up the delicate subject of race. It points out, subtly the inequality that exists between these two races in this country. If it didn't, people wouldn't find it funny, they would find it normal. So to exploit that inequality is in a small way a form of racism itself. I don't think they hate blacks or are knowingly prejudiced.

But bringing up the fact that some people have lighter skin and some people have darker skin doesn't at all point toward inequality. It's the same as saying "Where redheads and brunettes buy furniture". I'm not saying that redheads and brunettes aren't equal, I'm just saying that they both buy furniture here!
Just because at one point in the history of the world, races weren't considered equal doesn't mean that we shouldn't recognize skin color! It's something we should be proud of!
