Skyrim is a great game.I got it on launch night because as much as i love COD,there are times when i just simply burn out on it and need a change of pace plus i've played elder scrolls since morrowind.Also another great game franchise to play when COD burnout occurs is the assassins creed series,which also happens to have an awesome multiplayer.
My max shot with a bow is 570! My bow outputs 190 with steel arrows and a 10 damage fire enchantment. But how did I get a base damage of 170 =O. Well you see, I smithed my own Daedric bow and made it legendary. Then I wore my archery armor which is like this: Dark Brotherhood hood (20% archery bonus), leather bracers, boots, a necklace, and ring that I enchanted all myself (13% archery bonus each). Multiply the 190 by 3 (a sneak perk) and get 570. Hope I helped you archers!

I swapped from JRPG's and Platformers to FPS' after the release of Halo 3. Now I miss the turn based RPG's and platformers a lot and end up just playing the classics (e.g FFVII, Crash Bandicoot etc...)
@CARNAG3inHD Imperials really are the only thing holding together Skyrim from an Elven invasion, whereas the Stormcloaks are mostly a bunch of rebels who didn't think it through. You end up finding a dossier on the Stormcloak leader which says that he is actually working for the Thalmor (bad guys), and is trying to plunge Skyrim away from the Legion in order to weaken it for an invasion.
I chose Stormcloaks, and it kinda worked out. But Imperials are probably the "good" choice.

I liked this game so much!!! When I first played this I said fuck everything else, I gonna nerd out on this fucking game... Eventually I reached the level cap of 81 (For some reason the lvl cap is at 81) and I said Alright I change my opinion on RPGs like this game so I went to play and beat Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas... Also RAGE was pretty good... Bethesda is fucking awesome!!! So is Bioware, Cant wait for Mass Effect 3... Gonna be epic!!!
had the same experience, picked up skyrim, met a giant, went to the cloud district then raged. I was at a phase once where I couldn't play any single player games, I NEEDED social interaction while playing games so I could only play games like WoW etc. But a very strange thing happened to my mind; my friend and I went to see the movie "True Grit" (cowboy movie) and it was fairly enjoyable, and straight after we decided to buy Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare, and something in my mind clicked where I could play it w/o being bored out of my mind. It was an unreal experience.
Hutch I have done the same thing I love playing FPS and btw lol I also became an archer lol i think its just that shooter in me lol but back to the main point I have been playing FPS for a while and i also played skyrim i got it before christmas brake an I got attached to it. I transitioned from mostly fps to skyrim as well and I just grinded through the main quest line using only magic and training basically nothing else. After finishing that I grinded through some other quest lines like dark brotherhood and wizards college but now that I am done with most of the big quest lines I find myself trying out all the different skills and it definitely makes the game a lot more enjoyable.
I'm actually the opposite of what you're saying about switching genres. When I was younger I played mostly sports games and nintendo games (mario, etc). Now I'm mainly a FPS player, with a few RPG's on the side (Fallout, Elder Scrolls).

I've done almost exactly the same as you hutch I played purely cod for 3 years and I bought Skyrim a few weeks ago and I cant go back to cod for some reason I love Skyrim at the moment. I feel like i should be loyal to cod and try and play it more, but every time I go back to cod I just get bored and just jump straight back onto Skyrim :)

he is only level 30 because he one hit kills everything. you don't build skills like that. if it is on master and it takes multiple spells/sword hits to kill an enemy, then you will surely build your skills more.
@shaun0728 I actually had the opposite transition to you. Mainly played RPG/adventure games for...12years or so and then picked up Halo 3 in 06, put about 1000 hours into FPS games over the last 5 years. Now, with Skyrim and a handful of other games, the transition has just flip-flopped right back after the FPS genre felt a little stale to me. Just a shame the best RPGs are not available as social/multiplay. #someday
I never played an Elder Scrolls game til Skyrim, but now that I've played Skyrim it is amazing. I've never play say Soul Calibur til the 4th except for when I played SC2 at a friends and it isn't a bad game. I don't know why I am rambling on, but the point is I don't drift between genres. I more or less try to play all that I can because every genre offers fun things that I think by not playing you are missing out on great gaming experiences.
I will say this, I've never really drifted from one genre to the next although I do play some more then others. I do enjoy many though. I'll play games like CoD, BF, Halo, but I'll also play RPGs like Fallout, Skyrim. Then racers like Forza and Need For Speed or even fighters like Soul Calibur and Mortal Kombat. I'm a person who isn't too picky about the genre as long as the game itself offers me plenty of fun.
Playing Skyrim when I can now that the semester has started. Working on my smithing to get dragon armor. I've gotten tired of FPS too. I'll play COD and Halo with my friends but when I want to relax and have fun on my own it's Skyrim.
i grew up with rts pc games, i played on consoles weth my friends' fighting games like tekken ad mortal kombat. playing first person games of any kind were hard for me at first. but once i got my own xbox i switched between cod4 and assassins creed. completely different games, and i think it's taught me how to pick up different games quicker then i normally would. i now play mostly skyrim. when i play mw3 with my friends i'm not bad, i'm just switching weapons more often. you know what i mean.
Well what happend to me is that before I got my 360 I played literally all games. Then when i did get my 360 all I did for the next year or year 1/2 I played either CoD or Halo and got pretty got. after a while I just got sick of the fps's in general and now im back to my roots (all genres of games)
I've actually purchased Skyrim on release date and then bought Mw3 after, i thought that was a good idea since I played a lot of black ops, but Skyrim definately was a nice relief and i play that frequently, only 70 hours played and im level 48 Warrior. I want to make an Archer after seeing hutch though. Archery looks fun!
i went from cod4 to wow(some xbox) to blackops to bfbc2 to sc2 to bf3 to mw3 to now mixed (sc2 is stilll really fun bf3 is fun when i go on and mw3 is boring) wow is soooo fun at the start and then gets really boring after a few months at lvl cap
I play a bit of everything. I was a huge jrpg fan during the snes and psx era. But fps will always be my main genre of interest. I would like to see Hutch try out and make an ep of quality time playing Dark Souls.

the easy answer to why you're only level 30 at 65 hours is you only leveled up a small amount of skills like archery
destruction mage is way OP with the stagger perk. nothing hits me. not even ancient dragons. im going rogue on my 2nd playthrough if i dont level to 81 getting all my skills to 100
I want you to pick up The Witcher 2 when it come out on Xbox (Unless you a have a good PC). Its a hub based RPG, but I think it's complexity and story makes up for the non-open world game play.
would you possibly consider doing a bit of... not a playthrough but maybe some random fun episodes every so often on your own channel just to maybe talk through shit your thinking about at that time or whatever.

There is no right genre, especially for a gamer. To be a gamer, is to enjoy all types of games, regardless of whatever genre they're classified in. FPS, MMORPGs, RTS, all have games that are fun as hell.
I will warn you though, mmorpgs are a grind, and through all the rpgs I've played, the grind is the love/hate gripe I have with the genre.
I've been playing COD Since 2008, stuck with fps. Now im sick of them, got SKYRIM sunday, loved it. Now i got 14 hours of playtime, 70 sneak, and 60 smithing! :)

Recently gotten tired of the cat and mouse fps style. TF2 has its own bs (crits as the big one), but it at least dials back the peekaboo element. Couple other fps games out there do a decent job at avoiding being a game of hide and seek with guns.
RTS and Fighting games are cool, but much like being a fps newb, you will get shit on at first in those genres and have to commit to getting better, which I haven't done yet.
Action/adventure/platformer games are simple fun, though. Like Trine.

After finishing that I grinded through some other quest lines like dark brotherhood and wizards college but now that I am done with most of the big quest lines I find myself trying out all the different skills and it definitely makes the game a lot more enjoyable.

I'm actually the opposite of what you're saying about switching genres. When I was younger I played mostly sports games and nintendo games (mario, etc). Now I'm mainly a FPS player, with a few RPG's on the side (Fallout, Elder Scrolls).

I've done almost exactly the same as you hutch I played purely cod for 3 years and I bought Skyrim a few weeks ago and I cant go back to cod for some reason I love Skyrim at the moment. I feel like i should be loyal to cod and try and play it more, but every time I go back to cod I just get bored and just jump straight back onto Skyrim :)

he is only level 30 because he one hit kills everything. you don't build skills like that. if it is on master and it takes multiple spells/sword hits to kill an enemy, then you will surely build your skills more.

@shaun0728 I actually had the opposite transition to you. Mainly played RPG/adventure games for...12years or so and then picked up Halo 3 in 06, put about 1000 hours into FPS games over the last 5 years. Now, with Skyrim and a handful of other games, the transition has just flip-flopped right back after the FPS genre felt a little stale to me. Just a shame the best RPGs are not available as social/multiplay. #someday

I never played an Elder Scrolls game til Skyrim, but now that I've played Skyrim it is amazing. I've never play say Soul Calibur til the 4th except for when I played SC2 at a friends and it isn't a bad game. I don't know why I am rambling on, but the point is I don't drift between genres. I more or less try to play all that I can because every genre offers fun things that I think by not playing you are missing out on great gaming experiences.

I will say this, I've never really drifted from one genre to the next although I do play some more then others. I do enjoy many though. I'll play games like CoD, BF, Halo, but I'll also play RPGs like Fallout, Skyrim. Then racers like Forza and Need For Speed or even fighters like Soul Calibur and Mortal Kombat. I'm a person who isn't too picky about the genre as long as the game itself offers me plenty of fun.

i grew up with rts pc games, i played on consoles weth my friends' fighting games like tekken ad mortal kombat. playing first person games of any kind were hard for me at first. but once i got my own xbox i switched between cod4 and assassins creed. completely different games, and i think it's taught me how to pick up different games quicker then i normally would. i now play mostly skyrim. when i play mw3 with my friends i'm not bad, i'm just switching weapons more often. you know what i mean.

Well what happend to me is that before I got my 360 I played literally all games. Then when i did get my 360 all I did for the next year or year 1/2 I played either CoD or Halo and got pretty got. after a while I just got sick of the fps's in general and now im back to my roots (all genres of games)

I've actually purchased Skyrim on release date and then bought Mw3 after, i thought that was a good idea since I played a lot of black ops, but Skyrim definately was a nice relief and i play that frequently, only 70 hours played and im level 48 Warrior. I want to make an Archer after seeing hutch though. Archery looks fun!

the easy answer to why you're only level 30 at 65 hours is you only leveled up a small amount of skills like archery
destruction mage is way OP with the stagger perk. nothing hits me. not even ancient dragons. im going rogue on my 2nd playthrough if i dont level to 81 getting all my skills to 100

There is no right genre, especially for a gamer. To be a gamer, is to enjoy all types of games, regardless of whatever genre they're classified in. FPS, MMORPGs, RTS, all have games that are fun as hell.
I will warn you though, mmorpgs are a grind, and through all the rpgs I've played, the grind is the love/hate gripe I have with the genre.

Recently gotten tired of the cat and mouse fps style. TF2 has its own bs (crits as the big one), but it at least dials back the peekaboo element. Couple other fps games out there do a decent job at avoiding being a game of hide and seek with guns.
RTS and Fighting games are cool, but much like being a fps newb, you will get shit on at first in those genres and have to commit to getting better, which I haven't done yet.
Action/adventure/platformer games are simple fun, though. Like Trine.
