It is supposed to create a "snowstorm". It is something I want to try myself. Potassium sulfate is difficult to dissolve in water and is definately insoluble in alcohols. The alcohol being less dense, should partially remain on top and gradually take up water from the potassium sulfate solution dropping crystals.
ifit becomes barium sulphate, then isn't what's left sodium chloride which is just salt, so how is it a liquid??

@LenaLee9520 dude its NaCl in an aqueous solution...thats why..aqueous means containing water!!

its white cuz there are no metallic elements that provide color

@coolazdude94 to be more specific....transition elements can be said as forming colour compounds

Random question, but does anyone know what coloour sodium sulfate solution turns in water?
Polyrix 2 years ago
@Polyrix Sodium Sulfate (Na2So4) in water is a clear liquid (if dissolved) depending how pure your Na2So4 is it can be a bit yellowish
maxovitsj 2 years ago
Therefore Barium Chloride or Nitrate is used to detect for the presence of sulfate ions

random.. but does anybody know if after the barium sulfate settles, is the aluminum chloride solution white or colorless?

It will still have a white haze to it but it would be clear for the most part.

Nice video!
Will Sodium thiosulfate (Na2S2O3) work instead of Sodium sulfate (Na2SO4) ?
ThScience 3 years ago
ah I not sure.

fill the cylinder with saturated potassium sulfate solution and carefully and slowly add 70% isopropyl alcohol on top see what happens.

what happens?

send me some of this barium sulfate I need some because I'm an amature pyrotechnician who has no desire to use barium nitrate.

Thats a good indicator of a reaction between two chemical compounds.
