I can seriously say without lying, I have seen a Civic beat a Celica twice and it's because the Celica missed 2nd and the poster admits to normally losing and the other was because the Civic was modded completely to a stocker. Civic owners go on all day about VTEC when it's not that great. It was 40 years ago when it was invented, but now every half decent manufacturer has their own model of VTEC, in this case VVTL-I.

@187MA187 Don't kid yourself, you are bragging about something that has a way bigger engine? Lets put a Mustang, or a GT500K for that matter; and pare it with something of equal specs, the Z06. Ford gets walked on all day like a grandma's car. Ford owners can laugh all they want at 4 cylinders, but when someone with an equal engine steps up they won't talk.

I look at how much money does the owner have in the engine instead, which I find to be way more accurate in determining power haha,

Btw a Mustang, a pony car, compared to a factory-built race car, a Z06, is just about unequal as it can get.

@Ian400ex1 btw I'm not "off at the head", not even sure what that means. I was comparing engines, not cars btw. lol and I don't deny the fact that a Civic could, with tens of thousands of dollars in it, beat a stock Cadillac CTS-V. Hell any power-plant could with that much money poured on it.

But I do agree that the kids with Civic's thinking their car can beat a CTS-V with anything short of $20k and LOTS of work is stupid.

The GT500 has to start with a compromised platform from the beginning while the Corvette has it's own dedicated chassis. The GT500 also weighs just about 4,000 lbs while the Corvette Z06 is nearly 1,000 lbs lighter.

Take a look at their sales history, never been a year without a Mustang since '64, and in the same year they came out sold over a million units within 18 months, while the Camaro had to call it quits in 2002 until 2010 and sold much less over the same period as the Mustang. And the Challenger has barely returned after decades. All verifiable.

0-30 mph even the gts is the same power and virtually the same engine as the base corolla until you hit the valve lift. My brother bought the first GTS when them came out in 2000. Not a fast off the line car.. but it was ok once it got moving. The newer civics are a lot faster though.
