here is the democrats: lets spend tax dollars on preventative programs to keep people healthy, lets make it illegal to put loads of sodium in foods, lets make it illegal to deny coverage for preexisting conditions, ect.
here is the republicans: FREEDOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOURE TAKING OUR FREEDOM!...
im sorry, but if the ideas that the democrats have on the table are impeding on your freedoms, then you have some fucked up hobbies
@threadysparrow DONT TAKE MY TAXES! I DONT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT POOR PEOPLE! FUCK THEM! THEY SHOULD JUST MAKE MONEY AND WORK HARD! I DONT WANT TO SPEND ONE CENT ON POOR PEOPLE! FUCK POOR PEOPLE!!!!!!! by the way, i consider jesus a republican just like me. he would be against this stuff too. jesus was american dammit!
@blades392 yeah our "once" great country. are you talking about the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, or 90s? the 50s were full of nuclear fear and racism, the 60s were Vietnam and racism, the 70s were oil crises, hostages, and Watergate, the 80s were an economic meltdown, and the persian gulf war, the 90s had school shootings, rodney king, black hawk down, our president getting BJs, and kosovo, and the 2000s were september 11th, the iraq war, the gulf oil spill ect. ect.
@threadysparrow i love al franken because he is for the people. and what is so bad about calling it the people's republic of America. its for the people, and its a republic, but when you mix those words then all of the republicans start to yell RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE

I have to disagree with Sen. Franken on this one. 1. The information and education is already out there. 2. Sudden, exhaustive bursts of physical activity like gym workouts and long-distance runs lead to more eating of bad food, not less. 3. It can take years, even decades, from a formal diagnosis of pre-diabetes to develop into full blown diabetes (genetic causes aside). Do not rely on the government to improve your outcomes.
Really? So when you go to a restaurant you know how many calories are in the meals you are ordering? Go abroad and look at people there and compare them to people of the US - it's clear that there is a catastrophic failure in education.
(2) That's an equivocal statement. You cannot cite any proof of that fact - I exercise at the gym and do so fiercely, I eat lean meats, vegetables, whole grain pastas, and fruits for 90% of my diet.
Thank you for your reply. As for you first statement I'd wholeheartedly agree there is a failure in education. But to whom do you assign that task?
As for your second comment I have to wholeheartedly disagree. We have very similar diet and exercise regimens personally. You are right to ask for citations here I'd direct you to Dr. Timothy Church (LSU), Steven Gortmaker (Harvard), Kendrin Sonneville (Children's Hosp Boston), and a presentation by the Peninsula Medical School in the UK
@SunSunSuperFun I realize I cannot post the details of each of these in 500 characters but at your request I'd try to fill in any blanks from these researchers, studies done, and other studies I failed to mention (once again due to the 500 limit).
