@gunslingr100 Everyone is different. I myself enjoy putting myself in different states of mind, and if it's done within reason I find it an artistically inspiring experience but the thing is I use stuff instead of abusing it and obviously I stay away from hard drugs.
Straight edge if you have never tried alchohol, drugs or cigarettes and or lived in an environment or been around people who that shit has destroyed and seen the effects or had any sort of exposure to it. Plain and simple, you are not straight edge. It is that conscious decision and exposure that drives people to CHOOSE to be straight edge. It is a serious choice not one to make because youre friends are doing it. If you havent tried or been exposed to it you are prejudiced and a hypocrite.

I have no idea what Straight Edge is because I spent most of my time hiding from reality under the camouflage netting of copious amounts of drink and drugs. It's quite an existence I can tell you and it takes just as much effort as abstention to be done with any degree of success.
Went to a hookah bar with some friends last night. They all smoked and I just sat there and talked to them had a great night. Don't do drugs, smoke, drink and don't have promiscuous sex. You're not necessarily ruining your life if you enjoy the occasional drink or joint. Casual use and dependence are two completely different concepts, and casual use does not necessarily mean that you're using the substance as a crutch. I lived my whole life as 'straightedge.' It never appeared to me as a title or something to brag about. About a year ago I started smoking pot. It was just with some friends and it was alright. I've never drank, or done any drugs. I still smoke pot and still consider myself straightedge. It comes from the Earth right? Not a drug.

All my friends say I am Straight Edge because I am copying CM Punk. I love CM Punk, but he has introduced straight edge to me, BUT. I am not being a wannabe. Went to a hookah bar with some friends last night. They all smoked and I just sat there and talked to them had a great night. Don't do drugs, smoke, drink and don't have promiscuous sex. Not straight edge. but a few of the friends I hangout with are. I just can't stand people imposing their beliefs on you. You're not necessarily ruining your life if you enjoy the occasional drink or joint. Casual use and dependence are two completely different concepts, and casual use does not necessarily mean that you're using the substance as a crutch. It's just a way some people enjoy themselves, like you enjoy not doing those things. An analogy is like someone who enjoys sports and plays them for a good time while others do not. Btw, if you drink caffeinated coffee/tea/energy drinks, you're not straight edge.

I lived my whole life as 'straightedge.' It never appeared to me as a title or something to brag about. About a year ago I started smoking pot. It was just with some friends and it was alright. I've never drank, or done any drugs. I still smoke pot and still consider myself straightedge. It comes from the Earth right? Not a drug.
