  • am i the only one here who doesnt know what ppl mean with the Sherlock Holmes thingy !?!

  • @BSCHEATER This song was used in a montage at the start of the final episode of this series of Sherlock :)

  • @BSCHEATER Sherlock the BBC series, so far the best Sherlock adaptation from the books. 10000000000000000% better than the stupid US movie

  • @jamilv bang on! the movie just ruined sherlock but there's our BBC version saving it :D

  • @jamilv Hah well i dont think either is better

I like them both for different reasons

But this one definitely had a better ending

Its like when people are fighting over who is the best Doctor

They are all the Doctor and i like all of them for different reasons

  • @jamilv FUCK BBC and all limey, lames from UK. That's why USA Is #1

  • known this wonderful song for ages - its use in Sherlock just reminded me to link it to my less-fortunate friends'n'acquaintances.

    Richard Brook is a fraud.

    I Believe in Sherlock Holmes.

  • Moriarty was real.

  • omg...I thought this was a great song..but look at all those Sherlockians herping and derping around D: ITS FABULOUS!

  • seriously. i'm fed up and shocked at humanity. I come on youtube and I see and hear tremendous things. Songs and videos which are in a class of their own. Such as this video. And I am not alone in holding this view, after all over 13000 people seem to agree. What i will never understand however, are the 107 people who press dislike. Do you do it to be a pain? or do you lack culture? Or maybe a soul? Who can listen to that and press dislike? To think i probably pass ppl like that on the street.

  • Please, ♥

  • i am here cuz of Getting up

  • @TheLeoaugusto hahaha me to

  • Forget Sherlock Holmes, The Thomas Crown Affair far surpasses.

  • @Bryallen Hush now

  • @Bryallen the Thomas Crown Affiar was a brilliant film don't get me wrong, but you're wrong here, Sherlock far surpasses

  • One of the rare things, if not only, that can make me yell "POWER TO THE LORD!!!" without hypocrisy. :)

  • Richard Brook is a fraud.

  • For a while now Nina has been the largest inspiration of my life. I cannot begin to tell you how much of a powerful woman and how incredibly talented she was. When I heard this on Sherlock I started crying because it was the least expected thing to hear on the soundtrack, and yet it fit so well and was absolutely perfect. Sherlockians, I beg you to please do a little research on Nina and discover the amazing person that she was.

  • who da f is scherlock??

  • @sijomigadjura I find it amazing that a) you don't know who Sherlock is and b) you managed to spell it wrong despite the fact that you have seen it spelt correctly on every comment mentioning his name.

  • @specialfred1101 hhaha good one

  • @sijomigadjura Sherlock. The TV series. Modern take on Sherlock Holmes. Have a look on BBC iplayer series two episodes 1 and 3 then you'll understand why people are saying they are SHERLOCKED! (p.s. watch ALL of them if you can they're great!!)

  • @sijomigadjura its a BBC drama series check it out ITS AMAZING<3 and they used the song in one of the show......

  • I remember hearing this song years ago on Scrubs, and I had heard it elsewhere before and since then, and I've always loved the bits that I heard, but for some reason I never knew the name or who it was by. Hearing it in the Sherlock finale finally got me to finally looking it up. I feel pretty silly not knowing it was Nina Simone! It's such an AMAZING song!

  • good movies take us back to good music :)

    "Carry On Wayward Son"

  • glad i heard it on Sherlock, it was on the top gear USA special i think and it drove me mad trying to find it.

  • SHEEEEEEEEEERLOOOOOOOOOOOCK!

  • Does it really matter how you become aware of something amazing? We're not born knowing about all the best things in life, but once we hear them, we do have the power to discern that they are in fact excellent.

  • HOW IS SHERLOCKED ??

  • This was ON the new CBS show "Person of Interest" over a month ago..... if you go back you will find comments in December....Nina wrote this song in 1965, and it was based on a Spiritual written in the early 1900s. Musician(s) Nina Simone (piano, vocals, arrangement), Al Schackman (guitar, harmonica), Rudy Stevenson (guitar, flute), Lisle Atkinson (bass), Bobby Hamilton (drums), Album-Pastel Blues, Year-1965, Label-Philips Records, Producer-Hal Mooney

  • Moriarty brought me here!!

  • I O U

  • Nina Simone's songs always pop up everywhere and there's not one song that I don't love by her.

  • Thumbs up if you heard this on Sherlock BBC

  • This was used poorly in Sherlock, almost identical to how it was used in Thomas Crown Affair. You can not use it in a heist in the exact same fashion. I adore this song, but Sherlock lacked originality by choosing this very song for an almost identical scene. Any way thank you Miss Simone for the music...POWER!!!

  • @StylishMrGordon It wasn't used in a heist scene in Sherlock. It was used as Sherlock and John are heading to Moriarty's trial. I thought it was very well used in that scene and quite symbolic given the connotations of the particular Holmes story being adapted.

  • @joneswe01 I stand corrected in that case. It was used in Sherlock when Moriarty was captured by the authorities just after the heist. It was used in Thomas Crown when TC was being pursued by the authorities during the heist. I

  • @joneswe01 believe that to be very similar (but I do stand corrected on my original statement). It’s funny that many slept on Nina Simone when she was alive and it took Thomas Crown / Sherlock Holmes to remind many of what an amazing body of work she had and how her music was often a result of an oppressive system bestowed upon her and her people (I think that is symbolic).

I hope Thomas Crown / Sherlock Holmes was not your introduction to this great song and Nina’s prowess.

  • I first found out about this song from Marc Ecko's Getting Up game. God, that was awesome.

  • Oh guys, come on! Sherlock rocks ass, but how can you people know this as "the song from Sherlock?" This is an epic classic!

  • scrubs.:)

  • This song made the Sherlock episode give me chills! absolutely PERFECT CHOICE. OH, NINA <3 OH, SHERLOCK.

  • Totally! That's how I ended up here - tracking the song down... The SHERLOCK sequence was brilliant!

  • I loved Nina Simone since I saw the Thomas Crown Affair. My love has only grown since then, and has solidified with Sherlock. Bless you High Priestess of Soul.

  • IMSherlocked

  • Sherlock brought me here :D

  • Sherlock did bring me here - but now I discovered some new music! :D

  • SHERLOCKED until season 3

  • I Am Sherlocked.

  • This song was amazing on Sherlock.

  • Oh, gosh, I live Nina Simone. Her voice was beautiful.

  • Oh, Sherlock....

  • That awkward moment when you heard the word sinnerman on Sherlock and run to search it on Youtube only to find it is sung by Nina Simone.

  • @TheValkyrie0 I don't get your point. Apparently 48 people (and counting) do, yet I don't think they do.

  • @MartyFunkhouser00 don't get me wrong please, i said "awkward moment" because I felt embarassed when I learned that Sinnerman is her song, I should have known it. I love her and her songs, I didn't mean to say anything bad.

  • @TheValkyrie0 No worries, thanks for clearing it up. :) Not that I think the hordes of thumbsup merchants knew what you were getting at though. Peace.

  • @TheValkyrie0 Why would it would be an awkward moment? There is nothing embarrassing about Nina Simone. She is a legendary artist. When I saw the BBC Sherlock preview using one of my fave tunes "Sinnerman", I thought it was a stroke of (further) genius from that fantastic series. Worked even better in the context of the actual episode. Anyway, it has brought Nina's music to those who were not aware of it before, so it's all good. The woman is a Goddess. Listen and be enthralled.

  • @CloppaCastle you got me wrong :) awkward moment because i haven't heard the song till i watched Sherlock and never guessed that it is Simone's song. awkward moment because I feel myself embarassed for not knowing it is her song. Anyway, I love her music, that's the point.

  • I loved this song long before Sherlock, but the series does pop into head whenever I hear it now.

  • The lyrics are kind of scary, but it’s about the importance of believing in god. You should have been praying all your life, just because you’re about to die now you ask for help.

  • Marc Ecko's Getting Up and Sherlock. Gettin Up introduced me to it and Sherlock used it masterfully in the episode.

  • that was a fun 10 minutes!

  • i was wondering what this was, got shazam out, and its forever mine!

  • sherlock bought me here!
