Hitler was Catholic and by his own admittance was doing the "work of God" by eliminating the Jews. Something Ratzinger knows explicitly. The fascist Mussolini was also Catholic and had some connection with the church. Antisemitism arises from Jews being the "Christ Killers", a solely religious POV.

The Catholic Church actively supported the fascist dictators of 20th century Europe, many of them Catholics themselves. The Catholic Church also promoted anti-semitism itself throughout much of its history.

Morality existed in human society for millenia before Christianity, before monotheism, and possibly before religion itself. Religion may be intended as a particular expression of morality, but it not the source of it.

How can you have moral absolutes without god?

Like this:

1) if during our evolution we had not acquired the genetic components that result in behaviour such as avoiding killing and stealing from each other we would have gone extinct long ago

2) when someone kills or steals they are violating the rules that made us successful as a species and therefore deserve to be punished or rendered innocuous towards the species.

Vampire bats don't believe in god but still have a simple moral code.
