Dennis Edwards is a hell of a vocalist but as mentioned David's voice is more suited to the middle 8 in this song. Dennis' voice is that bit heavier than David... I still think this is great.Eddie is off da chain.
This is different without David, and I tend to agree that Dennis did not handle Ruffin's material well in many cases. But you have to admit it is such a treat to hear them sing live! For artitsts that can really sing, live is always better than studio. As a side note, the beauty of Woodson was that he could tackle both David's and Dennis' material with aplomb.
Heck! To be honest, you can't even HEAR Dennis' voice on this recording. He wasn't well amplified. All that I could hear personally was the bass and drums in the rhythm section, the brass section and Eddie....sound engineer must have "fallen asleep at the wheel" (smile)!
@Bula2you That's the reason why I didn't get it. I couldn't believe that wasn't on it. I remember my mother having the LP and I used to play it to death!!! lol
@Pur0mexico agree 100%. When David was relased, they lost something. Dennis was good for Cloud Nine and the Psychedelic songs and some others (I'm a Bachelor, Mother Nature, etc.), but for the old songs (My Girl, and many others), David's better and as tedkay said, those songs were written with David's voice in mind.

They need the full Live at the Copa album re-released. You can get it now but without the awesome version of "I'm Losing You"

David's vocal delivery was wayy better than dennis. Dennis is more soul and can't do the ballads
