Swordfish are carnivores. They eat squid, fish, shrimp, etc... They don't think twice about eating their prey.
It's about time we humans get over our guilt about being at the top of the food chain. One large female swordfish can lay 29 million eggs. Swordfish are not even remotely a threatened species.

Are you talking, Mediterranean, Indian Ocean, Atlantic Ocean or the Pacific as it seems stocks vary wildly across the oceans? Mediterranean stocks are highly overfished and threatened. Just because lots of eggs are laid means little, mortality rates for eggs and fry are huge for any marine creature. A tiny percentage would grow to adulthood.
