  • instead of alligator push ups, i just do what are called spiderman push ups lol. instead of moving forward like you, stay put and keep switchin hands like your crawling. another i've learned- dolphin pushup. when you go down. move whole body forward like stickin ur chin out and then back. pretty annoying after a bit

    pushups are for your chest, you have to think about the placement of your chest

    decline is feet up, incline is feet down (or hands up)

  • @hxcnoah your body may be at a decline with your feet up, but it works your upper chest, like an incline bench press. when your hands are on something, you are working your lower chest, like what a decline bench does. since you are pushing for both a benchpress and a pushup, it makes it incline for both the pushup and benchpress. SUPER LAWYERED!

  • The inclusion of Alligator Push ups was great idea. As a sports massage therapist I often see shoulders lacking range of motion due to repetitive jobs (i.e. computer mouse). Alligators and side to side hells are great ways to recruit more of the support muscles and ligaments that need working out but are often neglected.

    also, try adding planche press-ups to your work out, they work out the whole upper body, its the only exercise i do now that i have exams soon, as it only takes 12 mins that way to get a full work out for the upper body (meaning belt upwards including back).

  • @killathi, in the british army they touch the chest to the ground. the shaolin monks laughed at my brother for touching his nose to the ground, so they told him to touch his cheek to the floor. but bruce lee touched his chest to the floor and if the army also do it, its probably a proven, affective method. so i touch my chest down.

  • @00Avenger17 all talk no action, send a video to show you can do better, and if you dont do it on grass what would you do it on? wood or carpet are probably the only other choices without damaging yourself.

  • @00Avenger17, knuckle press-ups are usually for martial arts training and come in handy. especially when you accidentally punch someone else s fist when they try to punch you. it really hurts without training.

    so do knuckle press-ups whenever you can, or just make a habit of doing them instead of normal press-ups.

  • nothing but it does affect your coordination on the ground.

  • When done correctly they help develop your synergists and fixaters required to keep good form/posture. Also to new (old) way of thinking is to do exercise that integrate many muscles not isolate one or two.

  • ...the purpose of knuckle pushups isn't to strengthen your knuckles...it is to develop different muscle groups including your grip strength...so doing it on grass vs doing it on pavement makes no difference...wtf purpose does giving yourself a callous on the ouside of your finger serve exactly...?

  • i got to add something to mrobida`s explanation. it may be correct that it doesnt harden the knuckles (unless you jump with them), but you get a change in the knuckles. in our karate class after some years doing these on knuckles the fist became more plain because all 4 knuckles became 1 line.

  • normally the middlefinger knuckle is pointing out some mm and you cant bring all 4 knuckles on a wall. with some years with knuckle push ups you can (at least when you are still young, i didnt watch this at older persons)

    Knuckle push ups on the grass with thumbs on?

    Oh come on, at my school we have push ups on roads full o' gravels. Some even did have some tiny stones stuck inside their knuckles. The pain.

  • I use a really sharp, makes you bleed the first couple of times, fluorescent light cover like you see at schools. We call it lil' agony.

  • Great form and good variations. But I was wondering why you didn't do the knuckle push up on the pavement instead of on the grass. Because I think the skin of your knuckles have to be tough as well and doing them on the grass doesn't give the same result as on the pavement. That's what I think, correct me if I'm wrong xD

  • That was my first thought as well, knuckle pushup should be done on a hard surface, starting with maybe a wooden floor and after some training ending up on a cement sidewalk or rock.

  • To do one handed pushups you need to position your legs in the right place to balance your whole body.

  • to do 1 handed push ups you have to spread your legs alot wider in order to fairly distribute the weight, kinda like a tripod..I hope this helps a little
