I don't really care much about others opinion...what matters to me is... i LOVE David for who he is, being so humble and grounded... AND I continue loving his meaningful song with a lot of good positive messages... YES there are singers better than David, but my loyalty is with him forever... Keep inspiring people David and follow your dreams....

If a singer's voice is their way of communicating how a song makes them feel, then no one should say David should have sung this like Lennon. David knew his instrument and wanted to stir emotion in others, and he succeeded big time. For a few minutes he made you believe we all really could come together as one.

He said in interview he wanted to sing his favorite verse (3rd) in 90 seconds of limited time. Also he knew everyone expected the first verse, so for a surprising element, he did the third verse.

This is far from a good cover, He takes a song meant to be simple and pure and adds a bunch of flashy vocals as well as skipping the first two verses which completely eliminates the message of the song. I also hate his stupid reason for skipping them. She is a family friend that was there during the first few weeks of competition, his mother can be seen in the audience closer to the finale. 2. This is far from a good cover, He takes a song meant to be simple and pure and adds a bunch of flashy vocals as well as skipping the first two verses which completely eliminates the message of the song. I also hate his stupid reason for skipping them. He's just another ignorant Christian who can't handle the thought of "no Heaven"; he can't imagine...and if you can't imagine then don't cover this precious song.

@HaiBritProductions Exactly at 3:54 you can see the relief in the mothers eyes at him giving the "right" answer. They had to skip the No heaven hell, no religion parts so their conflicted ideas of religion and profiting off another persons work could be reconciled. Beliefs that Lennon would in no way endorse,typical hypocrites.

@okltsply Actually you are completely wrong. 1. That woman is NOT David's mother. She is a family friend that was there during the first few weeks of competition, his mother can be seen in the audience closer to the finale. 2. David has sung Imagine several times since AI, (and once as a guest star on the show) and has sung all of the verses (including the first one). Please take the trouble to do a little simple research before posting, you will appear less ignorant.

People don't even realize that this song is satanic. John Lennon was so very against Jesus. On the "Sgt. Pepper" album, all of the people that they looked up to were on the cover...it turns out that Aleister Crowley (leading satanist) is one of those people. The Beatles were satanists...as were many other popular bands back then, and other bands that are around today

If he were to just sing the no religion verse then he would have looked like he was endorsing atheist views. I believe it was a diplomatic choice on his part. And he didn't get praise for nothing.
