@MrJearlray Damn right it is, I love this song and another one of Harlan's songs that really grabs me is "The Key is' in the Mailbox" They reach right into my heart. If this isn't great music I don't know what is.
This music would still be on the radio if it wasn't for infinity and all those big shots running everthing for the buck. It is all for the teen 's now. Doug in Seattle
We went to a Jody Nix dance last Sat night and he broke out with this one first and filled the floor! It has been my wife Cindy's favorite since she first heard it at rodeo dances in the 60's. We have danced to it every time we have heard it the last 38 years! Thanks10+++++
@dgtxdutch I'm just a gal from Georgia, but I have heard about Jody Nix here. Wish I could hear a good Western Swing band one more time! I love Asleep At the Wheel, but they never get this way anymore.
@Nana2Livi Yes, we are lucky out here in Texas to be able to here this music with a little travel. But i do remember the 80's when it was a desert for good dance music. None could be found.
Brings me way back ------- lovely ♪♫ ♥. It was recorded as a cover version in Ireland in the early '60s by a lady by the name of Masie McDaniell (R.I.P) ---but this is the definitive version.
Boy do I remember this song, it was a major hit, all the juke boxes had it. For those that don't know what a juke box is: it's a carousel record player that had great sound.
Thanks for bringing back these "real" country songs. I remember seeing Charlie perform this song at the Grand Ole Opry many years ago. It was the first time I was ever there but remember quite vividly the singers I saw that night. Charlie Walker was one of them, and have always enjoyed his songs. Thanks ever so much, mrronniea, for a great video. He indeed had some great songs.
I love Charley Walker...I had two of his albums when i was younger and i played them over and over,,,well my older brother got tired of hearing them, and hid my albums in the freezer,,did i cry.
@Jrebindixie Took the words right out of my mouth..."this is what country music is suppost to sound like." I grew up in a home filled with the sounds of Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Buck Owens, Jim Reeves, Eddy Arnold, Ernest & Justin Tubb, Cowaboy Copas, Hawkshaw Hawkins, Chet Atkins...I especially like the cool, confident swing of this song as well as Walker's performance.
Dad was actually not laughing at the steel guitar player but clearing his throat. All of us inherited from dad allergies and alot of phlegm. Dad was always clearing his throat around the house and I find myself doing the same during allergy season. During the solo I think he was finding a good spot to clear his throat. As far as Abe Lincoln goes, well, he's been told that before. Kinda creepy. Thanks for all of the support.
True Ray Price was a crooner stylist that was in the class of Sinatra. Ray Price could cross any genre but western swing was his forte. But very good point on Charly Walker and well put.
Yeah i was disappointed when this disappeared.... Glad it's back !!!
Okay...someone PLEASE tell me who was the steeler here.... I'm pretty good with this, but am drawing a blank here, and no one has ever eluded as to who it is... He sure seems to be having a blast tho...and even cracks Charlie up at 1:09

Would anybody know which Martin model he is playing ?
grandstef 10 months ago
@grandstef Its a Martin 000-28. He purchased it in 1953 and had it refinished along the way. It was up for sale recently at £7,500.

I sure wished country music was still that pure. I don't
really care about what is out now. What they play on the
stations now I wouldn't give a dime for.
