Simply the best version I've ever heard!!! I'm in love with your voice...I would like a lot to download the song, isn't there some way that I can do this? Maybe you could send me an e-mail with the music or something like that?
@nr367 Really? I just searched for that song (sensommer visen) here on youtube, and I can't find many similarities. It's a beautiful song though... makes me wish I could speak Danish!
As for the melody... I actually had a faint memory of a recording of this song (Namarie) by J.R.R. Tolkien himself, but I couldn't remember it exactly. That served as an inspiration for this song, but mostly I just made up the melody as I went along.
Oh Please! Pleaaaase record this again with a better microphone, it is beautiful, I am in love with your voice and how celtic this sounds. I'm probably going to learn this now...
Keep in mind while you listen to this that Tolkien believed he was recording this world. It was not a product of his imagination in other words. He once said that he was "Given things…already there, somewhere."
Yeeess! This is how its done! I can smell the woods and hear the river. I've come across a few songs inspired by the Eldar, but yours seems to be the most beautiful and authentic. Its like someone crept up and recorded one in the forest. :) Well done.
I do love this version the best, it stuck with me while the other ones are rough and hard, this was romantic and soft. Bravo Brava dear lady and you did very good. :)
Just so you know, my mouth is hanging open right now. I've never heard anyone so gifted. The way you can make the words flow... its amazing! I'm a bit of a singer myself, but this song would take me at least a week to master, even if I new how to pronounce the words correctly, which I don't. You're incredible! Oh and one last thing... TOLKIEN'S A GENIUS!!!
Amazing to hear the Elvish language sung like this. Thank you, Kathilisi, for uploading this gem, & thank you, Sue, for linking me to it in the Book of Faces ~ (•8-D
This is beyond amazing. Your pronunciation and rhythm are exactly as I imagined the song in my head, and the melody is perfection. It sounds almost as if you're channeling the very spirit of the poem.
This is lovely thanks for posting the translation. I wish I spoke Elvin. I assume this is for Varda Elentari the Queen of the Angels. Its beautiful! Thanks for sharing. Your old mic & computer didn't really distract from it. Its really not lacking in quality, its just stripped down & natural. Makes it more intimate that way, like a folk song sung under the stars around a fire.
I second that. The melody is beautiful, worthy of the musics in the halls of the Blessed Realm. May you be blessed for having shared with us such beauty and melody.
Thanks, but I don't actually speak Quenya. I just used the original Elvish text from the Lord of the Rings and flipped to the back of the book to the appendices to read about the proper pronunciation. :-)

@earthgirl12250398 Silly girl! This is not nearly. It is as Perfect as perfect can be. It was composed by the High Lord Tolkien( May Varda watch over him!) himself. Yes, although "composed" is a bit strong, I guess... I just read through the poem a few times and then sang it with this melody that seemed to fit the phrases. Thanks for listening! :-)
@Kathilisi Wow, that's amazing! I was trying to remember which of the films it was from. Your pronunciation is pretty convincing and your singing very good. I love the tune you composed. I couldn't decide whether it was complicated or easy (I'm a musician and have experience composing) :)

For those hard-core Tolkien fans out there, make sure to google for Dr. Lance Owens and Stephen Hoellers "Tolkien gnosis"-lectures.
You will be shocked to learn that Tolkien didnt invent his mythology, but the story came to him during the writing, like a vision.
