  • Simply the best version I've ever heard!!! I'm in love with your voice...I would like a lot to download the song, isn't there some way that I can do this? Maybe you could send me an e-mail with the music or something like that?

  • this is hte best rendition of this song i have heard......your voice carries on the wind of this song.

  • looks like some of the elf maiden herself was singing this song sitting alone somewhere near a stream of water. lost in her thoughts.

    i am obsessed with Elvish....

  • Wow Das ist total schön geworden! *-* Ich liebe Elbisch! <3

  • Each single time I ear your voice in this song is just... amazing :)

  • Please the lirycs! I LOVE YOUR VOICE!

  • 11 orospu evladı

  • Wow your voice is absolutely beautiful

  • OMG! Your pronunciation and voice are perfect for this. Thank you!

  • words from heaven

  • Where did you get the melody? can't help being reminded of "sensommer visen"

  • @nr367 Really? I just searched for that song (sensommer visen) here on youtube, and I can't find many similarities. It's a beautiful song though... makes me wish I could speak Danish!

As for the melody... I actually had a faint memory of a recording of this song (Namarie) by J.R.R. Tolkien himself, but I couldn't remember it exactly. That served as an inspiration for this song, but mostly I just made up the melody as I went along.

    Thanks for commenting!

  • "Applause" just awesome. more.

  • beautiful voice :)

  • Beautiful!

  • Ná Elbereth veria le, ná elenath dín síla erin rád o chuil lín!

  • Keep in mind while you listen to this that Tolkien believed he was recording this world. It was not a product of his imagination in other words. He once said that he was "Given things…already there, somewhere."

  • Beautiful, With a good mike it would be brilliant.

  • Gorgeous. I'm on the way to learning Quenya and this helps. Your pronunciation is great. I'm probably going to have this song stuck in my head now.

  • wonderful... simply wonderful Please do more songs

  • Yeeess! This is how its done! I can smell the woods and hear the river. I've come across a few songs inspired by the Eldar, but yours seems to be the most beautiful and authentic. Its like someone crept up and recorded one in the forest. :) Well done.

  • That's so pretty! You'd do well at a Ren fest

  • I do love this version the best, it stuck with me while the other ones are rough and hard, this was romantic and soft. Bravo Brava dear lady and you did very good. :)

  • Wonderful voice, wonderful pronunciation, wonderful melody! Congratulations!

  • Shit son you have a bloody amazing voice!

  • Just so you know, my mouth is hanging open right now. I've never heard anyone so gifted. The way you can make the words flow... its amazing! I'm a bit of a singer myself, but this song would take me at least a week to master, even if I new how to pronounce the words correctly, which I don't. You're incredible! Oh and one last thing... TOLKIEN'S A GENIUS!!!

  • good job, usually people just butcher these songs, not as good as the original of course but very good all the same

  • I've always wondered what sort of tune would suit this song. Thanks so much! You have a brilliant voice!

  • it sounds so to me!

  • Beautiful

  • Amazing to hear the Elvish language sung like this. Thank you, Kathilisi, for uploading this gem, & thank you, Sue, for linking me to it in the Book of Faces ~ (•8-D

  • Beautiful voice! this is really true celtic music!!!

  • r u singer?or more than it?great

  • I just fell in love with your voice, just cant help myself :)

  • Sounds like a mixture between old norse and gaeleg

  • This is beyond amazing. Your pronunciation and rhythm are exactly as I imagined the song in my head, and the melody is perfection. It sounds almost as if you're channeling the very spirit of the poem.

  • Che bella voce! *-*

  • This is lovely thanks for posting the translation. I wish I spoke Elvin. I assume this is for Varda Elentari the Queen of the Angels. Its beautiful! Thanks for sharing. Your old mic & computer didn't really distract from it. Its really not lacking in quality, its just stripped down & natural. Makes it more intimate that way, like a folk song sung under the stars around a fire.

  • @GoddessElvina Exactly, I totally agree with everything you said.

  • even though i dont understand it, its beautiful

  • Please do post more songs! You have an amazing voice, so it would be a pity if you didn't!

  • Hanon le! I agree with joseport123456789, this music is worthy of the Blessed Realm. Nai hiruvalyë Valimar!

  • You have very beautiful voice.. Please record some more =)

  • This is the best rendition of Galadriel's Lament I've heard! Nai elyë líruva tennoio!

  • Wow! If you think the mike on your old computer was so bad, why not record your song again on a better one?No doubt your voice deserves it!

  • Mae govannen eleni =)

Very good work u have a beatifull voice and i love this song =)

  • Hanon Le!

  • That was beautiful! Please give us more or update this one with better audio!

  • wonderful..!!!

your voice is so sweet... it seemed to be sang by a true elf!!!!

did you write the music by yourself? it's impressive how it goes well with the words...

  • I second that. The melody is beautiful, worthy of the musics in the halls of the Blessed Realm. May you be blessed for having shared with us such beauty and melody.

  • You're awesome!

    Five stars ^___^

    Your pronunciations is really good!!

  • Wow. Elvish pronunciation. Without drawing out the vowels to help sound like you know what you're doing...you /do/ know what you are doing.

And I love the tune. Very good!

  • You have a lovely voice, and your pronunciation is lovely. Keep up the good work :)

  • I demand if possible this song be redone with better equipment!!! Pwn on Kath, pwn on

  • Sounds like a christmas carol at the start makes me feel jolly

  • This is great, can you record other songs?

  • The pronunciation is fucking great! Just put some melody in your interpretation! =)

    Way to go!

  • Excellent!

  • Read the description, it's Elvish!

  • Really awesome!

  • your elvish is amazing! nearly perfect! where did you learn? and if i remember correct it is Quenya, is that right?

  • Thanks, but I don't actually speak Quenya. I just used the original Elvish text from the Lord of the Rings and flipped to the back of the book to the appendices to read about the proper pronunciation. :-)

  • it's impeccable! you are very talented, indeed. I have a very deep respect for you

  • How do you learn this kind of language?

  • theres sites of elvish dictionaries. and online classes on how to speak and pronounce sindarian and quenya. im still learning though

  • hii kathi can u pls translate me something in elvish i wanna do a tatto and i really wanna get it rite i got some txt from the net but im not sure if its the really elvish n i really wanna do the tatto can u pls help me ???

  • She's said that she doesn't speak Elvish, so she can't help you.

  • @earthgirl12250398 Silly girl! This is not nearly. It is as Perfect as perfect can be. It was composed by the High Lord Tolkien( May Varda watch over him!) himself. In fact it is the longest, complete, accurate work in quenya. You dont even know whether its quenya or Valian or Sindarin and you comment, saying that it is ALMOST perfect quenya . RidiculousKids these days! Lady Singer, You have been blessed with the tongue of Luthien Tinuviel , born of Melian high Maia herself! Keep Singing lady!

  • @earthgirl12250398

Silly girl! Do you even know ANY elvish. nearly perfect is it? It is the longest, most accurate, ccomplete work in quenya! The High Lord Tolkien Himself Composed it ( May Varda watch over him!) You are not even sure of the Elven Dialect and you start commenting on the Perfection of the Song. HMPH. Kids these days! And Lady Singer, You have been blessed with the voice of Luthien Tinuviel , daughter of Melian the Maia, herself! You have been using the voice very very well!

  • @jphotguy I was talking about the pronunciation of the girl singing. I am in fact aware that Tolkien wrote the song, therefore it MUST be perfect. In no way was I insinuating that the song itself was flawed.

  • @earthgirl12250398 sorry if this has been answered, I think she's speaking the Hight Noldor tounge.

  • beautiful. You have a great voice.

  • Nice mezzo-soprano scoring. Did you compose this?

  • Yes, although "composed" is a bit strong, I guess... I just read through the poem a few times and then sang it with this melody that seemed to fit the phrases. Thanks for listening! :-)

  • @Kathilisi Wow, that's amazing! I was trying to remember which of the films it was from. Your pronunciation is pretty convincing and your singing very good. I love the tune you composed. I couldn't decide whether it was complicated or easy (I'm a musician and have experience composing) :)

Fantastic work! *favourited* and liked! 5*s if youtube still does them :D

  • you sound like an angel

  • That sounded wonderful, I would love to learn elvish, it would drive my parents crazy. Could you teach me?

  • This is beautiful. I'm really feeling the elven experience. The primitive microphone works!

I wonder how it'll sound if sang inside a space like a church or something. Maybe adding a bit of a chorus? Try experimenting some more.

    Thank you for posting!

  • I love your voice, and the beaty of the song is amazing. Great job!

  • Very pretty..Such a great voice...

  • incredibilmente bello.

    brava

  • OH MY GOD.

    Amazing...

  • wow I don't have words to describe

  • This is just fantastic.

Your voice sounds like it's coming from heaven.

  • Will you ever make a more professional recording of this? This is jenseits bezaubernd!

  • Bein! Beautiful!

  • Where is the melody from? Is it in the soundtrack, or did you make it up? It's gorgeous!

  • I made it up :)

  • That's sung very well. Where's the melody from?

  • @Sinuriel It's Quenya/Elvish from "Lord of the Rings".

    Well sung!

  • amazing :)

  • yeah, it totally sounds Hungarian. Who is singing???

  • Nohát, egy magyar :).

  • na, erre meg miből jöttél rá? :D

  • Nem is tudom, mintha lettek volna árulkodó jelek a commentedben :P. Hehe.

  • :D hát igen. bár be kell vallanom, pont a magyaros fílingje miatt nem érzem eléggé tündésnek ezt a zenét, bár gyönyörű. X)

  • Hát az lehet, de tényleg gyönyörű :D.

  • ezt megbeszéltük. XD

  • I love it! It had a feeling of Hungarian folk music to it, just a bit modernised :P.

  • love it!

  • gad what a melodi!

  • írima!írima!írima!

  • beautiful...I'm trying to learn quenya, but to sing in it! Amazing! írima! (lovely)

  • Írima! Wunderschön! The melody fits comfortably with the words, and you sing it quite beautifully. Tolkien himself has actually composed this as a Gregorian-type chant. That's why I myself haven't tried to compose this poem, although I've done so to various other poems of Tolkien. But your composition is quite simple, reminscent of Tolkien's version, so thank you for your creativeness!

  • Thank you very much! I had heard Tolkien's version once, but when I went looking for the recording again, I couldn't find it anymore, so I wrote my own version of the melody. I'm glad you find it reminiscent of the original.

  • yes yes... my intentions were to tell u that u are not worthy of tokien's work, that is untill i heard the lament that u improvised into your own version, and ill tell you... thats what its all about, making it sound AUTHENTIC.You did this and appluad you for a job well done!5 stars

  • A-W-E-S-O-M-E-!

  • Utterly beautiful. I don't speak either Quenya or Sindarin, but I'd love to learn. Your voice carried it perfectly, like it's your mother tongue. Gorgeous!

  • Hìni a Gwil a Beriad Galadriel (sindarin)

  • Yes, yes Cgurllx. Istanyë Quenya farya lai, ar quetanyë farnë...

  • Lovely and very much in keeping with the spirit of Tolkien.

  • really fantastic !!!
