Interesting, Texas wanted independence once because they disagreed with the abolition of slavery (1830), now they are being ingrates again to a nation that made them, or better said, gave them the economy they have (Funny, Texas means "friends" or "allies", ironic)...hmmmm, btw I think if Texas does secede, it should give all the land it took from New Mexico...
@PacoMxxN Hummm not sure where to start here. First off, slavery was abolished in Texas with the constitution of 1824. That constitution was so popular in Texas that the 1824 flag was the first and most recognized banner of the Republic of Texas. Texas sought independence in 1835 not over slavery but because the 1824 constitution was abolished by Santa Anna in favor of a dictatorship. The proper relationship between Texas and the U.S. is nation to nation. Allies, friends & strong.
I would be all for Texas and all the other southern shit states seceding if that didn't mean that they would devolve into a shithole even worse than Mexico is. It's not that I care what happens to them, just that Mexico makes a far better neighbor than they would be.
does he not realise that sovereignty and secession go hand in hand? you can't be free from your current sovereign government without establishing your own.
Traitor. No wonder the USA didn't accept Texas for nearly a decade. What average Americans don't know is: yes, Texas was it's own nation at one point...for 10 lousy years. In those 10 lousy years as The Republic of Texas, the standard of living was sh*t. It was in fact, so bad, that Texas BEGGED the United States to accept them. Guess what? - the USA WOULDN'T HAVE THEM, till after they begged for NINE years. I say, let them secede - And no allowing them back next time.

Total IQ audience and speaker combined 20. Total actual facts in the speech to support his ideas 1. Allowing a state of traitors to be handed back to Mexico - PRICELESS.
Fuck this TRAITOR! Try to cede Mr. Kilgore, PLEASE try it, the USA will rip you & TEXAS a new asshole. 650,000 dead resolved this issue, you dumb hick go back to do want to you do best shoveling mule shit.
Mr. Kilgore needs to refresh his history. Neither Washington or Houston were part of secession movements; they were part of revolutionary movements. Houston was opposed to secession from the United States. And in his Farewell Address, George Washington asked the American people to indignantly frown "upon the first dawning of every attempt to alienate any portion of our country from the rest, or to enfeeble the sacred ties which now link together the various parts."
In fact, George Washington was part of American colonial secession from England, and Sam Houston was a part of the Texian secession from Mexico. So you might want to refresh your own study of history.
You're about as convincing as Mr. Kilgore. What's your evidence? Assuming states rights is a valid theory, secession is the legal act of a sovereign state who wishes to dissolve a union, but neither the colonies or Texas had such sovereign powers, which is why DOI's were needed and wars of independence fought.
My evidence for what? The definition of the word secession? Who cares? I'm not interested in playing semantics. I'm interested in seeing Texas as a free and independent nation once again. Whether that comes about by a declaration of independence or articles of secession is of no consequence to me.
Your evidence that both revolutions were secessions. History and facts are not semantics. If the colonies or Texas were sovereign, there would have been no need for declarations of independence; they would have passed ordinances of secession as did the Southern States. So, if you are going to make an analogy, make a proper one, not one without basis, such as Washington and Houston being part of secessionist movements. Unless of course, you consider history and facts unimportant.
Again, I'm not interested in arguing semantics with you. The word secession simply means 'to withdraw'. If you prefer another word, that's fine with me. The fact is the American colonies withdrew from England, and the state of Texas withdrew from Mexico.
No one is arguing semantics with you, and the fact you keep trying claim so suggest you have no argument at all, because the argument is not about the "meaning" of secession (which would be a semantic argument), but is about the difference between a declaration of independence and an ordinance of secession (that is not a semantic argument). Or do you not see the difference because you desire so badly to enlist dead heroes into your own cause?
Feel free use the word secession however you see fit, and if in doing so you choose to exclude the American revolution and the Independence of Texas, then that is your opinion and you are entitled to it. As I've said, I don't really care whether Texas issues a Declaration of Independence or Articles of Secession or simply says "fuck off" and seals the border. Either way the same goal is accomplished.
get Daniel Miller back on the mic, he had a more childlike innocence, than this idiot.
so you hate the USA, you don't want their laws, and you don't want to pay taxes. quick solution: just go to Mexico. Liberals go to Canada, it's the equal opposite. the climate is the same as Texas, the government is powerless and you have all the liberty so long as you have either financial backing or firepower. Don't secede, emigrate.
What is interesting is how people like him accused people on the left for hating America because they were criticizing Bush. Look who hates America now! Osama bin right-winger.
...what are they gonna replace the FDA, FCC, DOJ, and just about every other federal agency that benefits states with?
How are they going to maintain their roads/airports/rails without FAA and DOT grants?
What are they going to do when Continental, American, and Southwest (all Texas-based airlines) all of a sudden get their domestic flight authorities revoked because they'd then be foreign carriers?
...did any of them put any REMOTE amount of thought into these things?
i think the point they want is to get rid of all these federal groups they see as unneccesary
They will probably make their own programs, its not like they are receiving more money from FAA and DOT than their citizens pay to feds in income tax
And the airlines are probably to make another point. the US will lose a lot of air transport capability without these companies, so the US with either be reliant on texas or commercial flight business would be overpriced and impossible to use in the US.
"its not like they are receiving more money from FAA and DOT than their citizens pay to feds in income tax."
Where on Earth do you get that idea? The grants are from the entire national populace and divided among hub airports by demand. Since DFW/IAH are among the biggest markets, they get disproportional amounts.
Oh, see i thought we were talking about roads and rails, i suppose they may be a bit behind on the airport front, but if the cost of an airport goes up, the cost of the service will go up, and people there will rely more on rails and roads, its the way of the free market
"so the US with either be reliant on texas or commercial flight business would be overpriced and impossible to use in the US."
Why in the world do you believe the airlines would stick around and deal with that manner of lunacy... when American can just as easily move its headquarters to its Chicago or Miami hubs, thus retaining its national identity and rights.
Continental can do the same for its NYC area hub at Newark; and Phoenix, Vegas, and California have been courting Southwest for years
Well, they might decide to be good businessmen, considering their current positions. With America increasing taxes for the rich, and texas being against those taxes, i actually not only foresee businesses staying in texas, but actually moving to texas to increase their profits. This is the way business will do, if it is cheaper to do somewhere else, then they will do it there. So unless America treats texas like cuba (a definite possibility), and they lose customer base, they will move to texas
And y'see, it's exactly THAT level of ridiculous shortsightedness (i.e., seeing the fiscal world in nothing but taxes) that begets the manner of thinking for this "movement" in the first place:
what good is saving a million in taxes if you lose a billion in newly imposed tariffs from the country that you just gave the finger to?
Who's gonna come to their rescue? The Europeans-- who just loveeee fringe right politics? lol Latin America, who these people express their hate for every day?
Then where are they at these rallies lol. They are on board? Yah right, the republicans don't even have black or hispanic supporters. The ones that do support are more for helping out the white man than their own races. Aka Michael Steele.
so... everybody should just support only their own race in a conflict and anyone that supports someone who happens to be of another race is a traitor.
Michael Steele isn't a traitor - he is what he is, a black man put as head of the Republican party because America elected a black president. He didn't have to be smart, he didn't have to be the best man for the job he just had to be black.
There are no blacks and hispanics supporting secession because its white racist shit heads supporting secession and the tea parties.
Find me a rally in support of this stuff that isn't a bunch of old racist crazy white people and I might agree with you.
it's a mistake to lump tea parties in with this secessionist stuff. there are, however, others besides whites supporting tea parties. check out Lloyd Marcus, and Walter E. Williams - you may learn something.
the argument that Michael Steele is at the head of the GOP just because he's black makes sense, but it's also dangerous for an Obama supporter. After all, Obama wasn't elected because he's qualified.
nice non-response. you did a good job of sounding like you were actually responding by imitating the structure of my statement, but you didn't actually respond to the content of it. I give you specific names, you give me "any documented video of any of these protests anywhere." adequately vague- lets you think you've made a good point.
you redirect so much that discussion is of little value. I asked how the claim in your initial post is different from racism. try actually responding.
look, we know that anyone that isn't white or old isn't interested in this bullshit. you can write about answers and questions all day just like Glenn Beck but the fact stands strong - NO BLACK OR HISPANIC PEOPLE GO TO TEA PARTIES OR SECESSION RALLIES CAUSE THEY AREN'T PATHETIC WHITE PEOPLE WHO BITCH AND CRY 24/7 ANYTIME A BUSH ISN'T IN POWER TO GIVE THEM A WAR TO JERK OFF ABOUT :)
Tourism is an export of Texas? lol who wants to go to the ghettos of houston and dallas for vacation? thanks but no thanks, i'll go somewhere nice and not filled with morons.
eh... tourism is not an export, just as american oil isnt... exports was just on rice. I think theres also a lot of wheat, and a lot of ranching, so you can see your meat prices rising (which might be a good thing). tourism would be the absolutely awesome beaches

As long as Dixie stays in the Union. As long as they stay in the Union, we will not have a problem.

lol you cite one war as a counter-example to secession... read more history :P
Vertigopills 2 years ago 3
Point is the US would not allow it. And this shit about Texans being in the military does not mean shit. I am sure most Texans would side with the US. This is just dreamland shit anyway.

You might want to consult the Department of Homeland Security. The vast majority of Texans have already been described as terrorists.

Okiecowboi99 2 years ago 3
ZekeVaughn 2 years ago
Hmmm... two dislikes, but no comment on what they disapprove of? Are those dislikes from revisionists like Mr. Kilgore?
ZekeVaughn 2 years ago
In fact, George Washington was part of American colonial secession from England, and Sam Houston was a part of the Texian secession from Mexico. So you might want to refresh your own study of history.
freysman 2 years ago
You're about as convincing as Mr. Kilgore. What's your evidence? Assuming states rights is a valid theory, secession is the legal act of a sovereign state who wishes to dissolve a union, but neither the colonies or Texas had such sovereign powers, which is why DOI's were needed and wars of independence fought.
ZekeVaughn 2 years ago 2
My evidence for what? The definition of the word secession? Who cares? I'm not interested in playing semantics. I'm interested in seeing Texas as a free and independent nation once again. Whether that comes about by a declaration of independence or articles of secession is of no consequence to me.
freysman 2 years ago
Your evidence that both revolutions were secessions. History and facts are not semantics. If the colonies or Texas were sovereign, there would have been no need for declarations of independence; they would have passed ordinances of secession as did the Southern States. So, if you are going to make an analogy, make a proper one, not one without basis, such as Washington and Houston being part of secessionist movements. Unless of course, you consider history and facts unimportant.
ZekeVaughn 2 years ago 2
Again, I'm not interested in arguing semantics with you. The word secession simply means 'to withdraw'. If you prefer another word, that's fine with me. The fact is the American colonies withdrew from England, and the state of Texas withdrew from Mexico.
freysman 2 years ago
No one is arguing semantics with you, and the fact you keep trying claim so suggest you have no argument at all, because the argument is not about the "meaning" of secession (which would be a semantic argument), but is about the difference between a declaration of independence and an ordinance of secession (that is not a semantic argument). Or do you not see the difference because you desire so badly to enlist dead heroes into your own cause?
ZekeVaughn 2 years ago
Feel free use the word secession however you see fit, and if in doing so you choose to exclude the American revolution and the Independence of Texas, then that is your opinion and you are entitled to it. As I've said, I don't really care whether Texas issues a Declaration of Independence or Articles of Secession or simply says "fuck off" and seals the border. Either way the same goal is accomplished.
freysman 2 years ago
And Texas has been SOOOO successful at sealing its border so far, huh?

get Daniel Miller back on the mic, he had a more childlike innocence, than this idiot.
so you hate the USA, you don't want their laws, and you don't want to pay taxes. quick solution: just go to Mexico. Liberals go to Canada, it's the equal opposite. the climate is the same as Texas, the government is powerless and you have all the liberty so long as you have either financial backing or firepower. Don't secede, emigrate.

Are these people nuts?
...what are they gonna replace the FDA, FCC, DOJ, and just about every other federal agency that benefits states with?
How are they going to maintain their roads/airports/rails without FAA and DOT grants?
What are they going to do when Continental, American, and Southwest (all Texas-based airlines) all of a sudden get their domestic flight authorities revoked because they'd then be foreign carriers?
...did any of them put any REMOTE amount of thought into these things?
ImmortalSynn 2 years ago
i think the point they want is to get rid of all these federal groups they see as unneccesary
They will probably make their own programs, its not like they are receiving more money from FAA and DOT than their citizens pay to feds in income tax
And the airlines are probably to make another point. the US will lose a lot of air transport capability without these companies, so the US with either be reliant on texas or commercial flight business would be overpriced and impossible to use in the US.
clance90 2 years ago
"its not like they are receiving more money from FAA and DOT than their citizens pay to feds in income tax."
Where on Earth do you get that idea? The grants are from the entire national populace and divided among hub airports by demand. Since DFW/IAH are among the biggest markets, they get disproportional amounts.
ImmortalSynn 2 years ago
Oh, see i thought we were talking about roads and rails, i suppose they may be a bit behind on the airport front, but if the cost of an airport goes up, the cost of the service will go up, and people there will rely more on rails and roads, its the way of the free market
clance90 2 years ago
"so the US with either be reliant on texas or commercial flight business would be overpriced and impossible to use in the US."
Why in the world do you believe the airlines would stick around and deal with that manner of lunacy... when American can just as easily move its headquarters to its Chicago or Miami hubs, thus retaining its national identity and rights.
Continental can do the same for its NYC area hub at Newark; and Phoenix, Vegas, and California have been courting Southwest for years
ImmortalSynn 2 years ago
Exactly, no one will stick around for New New Mexico to sort its shit out.
SourceCode2006 2 years ago
Well, they might decide to be good businessmen, considering their current positions. With America increasing taxes for the rich, and texas being against those taxes, i actually not only foresee businesses staying in texas, but actually moving to texas to increase their profits. This is the way business will do, if it is cheaper to do somewhere else, then they will do it there. So unless America treats texas like cuba (a definite possibility), and they lose customer base, they will move to texas
clance90 2 years ago
And y'see, it's exactly THAT level of ridiculous shortsightedness (i.e., seeing the fiscal world in nothing but taxes) that begets the manner of thinking for this "movement" in the first place:
what good is saving a million in taxes if you lose a billion in newly imposed tariffs from the country that you just gave the finger to?
Who's gonna come to their rescue? The Europeans-- who just loveeee fringe right politics? lol Latin America, who these people express their hate for every day?

Actually its Freedom for those who truely understand what it means.Whites,Blacks,Hispanics, etc etc. They are here and are on board with seceding.
thefriobum 2 years ago
Then where are they at these rallies lol. They are on board? Yah right, the republicans don't even have black or hispanic supporters. The ones that do support are more for helping out the white man than their own races. Aka Michael Steele.
SourceCode2006 2 years ago
so... everybody should just support only their own race in a conflict and anyone that supports someone who happens to be of another race is a traitor.
how does that differ from racism?
realslim 2 years ago
Michael Steele isn't a traitor - he is what he is, a black man put as head of the Republican party because America elected a black president. He didn't have to be smart, he didn't have to be the best man for the job he just had to be black.
There are no blacks and hispanics supporting secession because its white racist shit heads supporting secession and the tea parties.
Find me a rally in support of this stuff that isn't a bunch of old racist crazy white people and I might agree with you.
SourceCode2006 2 years ago
it's a mistake to lump tea parties in with this secessionist stuff. there are, however, others besides whites supporting tea parties. check out Lloyd Marcus, and Walter E. Williams - you may learn something.
the argument that Michael Steele is at the head of the GOP just because he's black makes sense, but it's also dangerous for an Obama supporter. After all, Obama wasn't elected because he's qualified.
realslim 2 years ago
check out any documented video of any of these protests anywhere and you might learn something.
SourceCode2006 2 years ago
nice non-response. you did a good job of sounding like you were actually responding by imitating the structure of my statement, but you didn't actually respond to the content of it. I give you specific names, you give me "any documented video of any of these protests anywhere." adequately vague- lets you think you've made a good point.
you redirect so much that discussion is of little value. I asked how the claim in your initial post is different from racism. try actually responding.
realslim 2 years ago
look, we know that anyone that isn't white or old isn't interested in this bullshit. you can write about answers and questions all day just like Glenn Beck but the fact stands strong - NO BLACK OR HISPANIC PEOPLE GO TO TEA PARTIES OR SECESSION RALLIES CAUSE THEY AREN'T PATHETIC WHITE PEOPLE WHO BITCH AND CRY 24/7 ANYTIME A BUSH ISN'T IN POWER TO GIVE THEM A WAR TO JERK OFF ABOUT :)
