Are Cold Steel swords made using modern metallurgy techniques? Or using ancient & medieval ones? I am just wondering if the swords back then were as effective.
In my experience with swords (Probably no where near as much your team's) I've found that the Katanas are both alot heavier than sabres and fail to cut nearly as well. Do your Katanas maintain this tradition of a heavier, less effective blade, and if so, are there any swords you can reccomend that have a similar weight and ability to, say, your 1796 Light cavalry sabre, while maintaining that Katana feeling? (I'm asking on behalf of a friend, I'm perfectly happy with my 1796.)
The larger guy made a mistake. Instead of simply yanking the sword out of the scabbard, you need to push the neck of the sword out of the mouth of the scabbard. Other than that, most of the other guys seem to know what they are doing.
@csknives yeah right, dude. in the other videos you cut the big ropes where it's taped back together from being cut with weaponry that can ACTUALLY cut it.
@n1nj4p1rate i own a few of their products, they are very high quality, come razor sharp from the factory, and are made from very strong steel, ive cut through steel belted radials with one:]
@n1nj4p1rate i own a few of their products, they are very high quality, come razor sharp from the factory, and are made from very strong steel, ive cut through steel belted radials with one:]
@ripjohnnyc I'm a very easy going guy and I love our fans as much as I love our products - but I won't tolerate offensive comments about my friends or slander regarding our knives. Respect goes both ways. I will happily answer questions and chat to folks who are friendly or simply inquisitive, but trolls don't deserve my respect or a civil answer
I imagine that due to the size length sharpness and speed it may have been used be ninjas in history. That's my theory anyway. I myself am a person who prefers swifter weapons above the larger weapons, so I truly like it and all the other weapons as well. But can you tell me what weapons would you suggest to a person who rather concentrates on speed and agility.
@martin14941 When I say SmallSword I'm referring to a specific product. Check out our website. It's a very fast and nimble Western sword which several of our staff have trained extensively with. In the right hands it's amazing.
@TINBITZPHAM if it comes down to it these weapons could be used to defend yourself. If you think it's gross I'm happy for you to embrace the alternative.
1:46, the only reason it didnt cuth through the thing is because you need to cut with the last 5" or so of the blade for maximum performance. he cut with the inner half.
This just shows that a redneck with an improper sword technique can chop dead meat on a rope. If I ever were to get a Katana, I wouldn't buy one that wasn't genuine.
I recommend getting someone who knows how to wield a sword to demonstrate the cutting power. These men are holding the sword like a baseball bat, a huge minus for any martial artist.
@dravenroughnecks That would depend on the finish and it's application. I would suggest calling customer services via our website and talking to one of the reps. They are very knowledgeable and happy to help :)

@csknives Would it be possible to make a laser sword? Lasers are used for cutting steel and although such lasers would be way too expensive and big to use a weaker version of it might still be very profitable. Who does not want to have a working laser sword? There should of course at the end of it be put some kind of mirror to reverse the beam, swords like in star wars where the beam suddenly stops are of course impossible. More like the sword in the videogame No More Heroes.
@csknives not saying its bad just saying it could be better spent a couple months in japan watching the old masters practice and learning whats a good cut and whats not and quite a few of the cuts made weren't clean
@Teufelhund5803 Members of our PROOF crew have studied in Japan extensively, Luke LaFontaine for example has been practising Aikido, Seido Karate, Northern Kendo and Shinkendo amongst others for over 30 years. Bear in mind this entire DVD was filmed in one week. I invite you to make many thousands of flawless cuts, produce your own videos and show us how it's done.
@MrChris4251 well everyone knows the ignorant one here kid, stop being angry and accept you need to learn abit about katana's, the way you know one is sharp to perfection is when you hold the cutting edge towards the sun and there is a sparkle on the edge and if you turn it lower and lower u can still see the sparkle all along the blade, go pick up a book and do you home work kid. im done
@warrior24880 Take it from a student of the German longsword: katana are no sharper than any other sword. They just get a shit-ton of hype for being from the "mystical east". Take a longsword and a katana from the same time period and you would find they had the exact same edge: sharp enough to cut through flesh, dull enough not to be ruined when impacting hard surfaces (armor, bone, etc.). These days, that's unnecessary, so they're often sharpened to a razor's edge to cut soft targets easier.
@warrior24880 Actually, it's no sharper or stronger than the average european sword, it got its reputation from marine officers during WWII who were issued shitty stamped-out blades and were thus amazed by katanas. This reputation has been perpetuated by the hated wapanese.
