I just love the fact that the short story this was based on was written by Roald Dahl! Brings a whole new feeling to this story, considering how famous he became for writing children's stories. Although even those have their own "dark" elements.
Just yesterday, I had a short story assignment, and I had to write a summary of whichever short story I'd like. I was searching for some old short stories online, and found this one. I love it! I think the story's a bit better than this, but this is still very good. :D
i feel so sorry for mary. here she is a good wife who tends to her husband and take care of house, he tells her that he wants to leave her for some slut. i clapped when she killed his fucking ass. good enough for his ass
The Doc was played by my HS drama/english teacher, Tom Wild. We remained friends for 30 yrs and he paid my entrance fee into the Screen Actors Guild. I acted with him on screen 3 x. He told me Hitch was late coming to the set this episode. Next the large studio doors open and a Uhall trailer was backed in. The doors opened and there was Hitch sitting inside the trailer that was completely decorated inside to look like his den. Hitch then said; "We may begin". His sence of humor was contagious.
The only thing better then being able to watch these shows on YouTube, is watching them in one full part episode! :D. I use my iPhone connected to my TV. When they are broken up into parts I have to keep getting up & finding the next part.

I am currently studying Lamb to the Slaughter at school. this is a very good rendition of this story, and the actors are quite well suited to the story. unfortunately, a lot of the irony was lost as some of the dialogue that was clever was not used, and some dialogue were added. wonderful rendition of the ending, though!
This would be the perfect episode had it not starred Barbara Bel Geddes. Her voice and the way she carries herself ALWAYS - in any role she has EVER played - sound and look as if he was mortally, suicidally deprssed. She also somehow manages to makes it sound as though EVERYTHING she says is a question, even when many of them are statements. God-awful. She's terrible. Because she's always a whiner of the first degree, I never have pity for her characters. Love the story though - a shame.

actually a film can never match up to a book because it interferes with the reader's imagination - I remember being v disappointed by Lady Margarite Blakeney in the film version of The Scarlet Pimpernel, when I saw it several years after reading the novel...
My teacher recommended the movie to me, I thought it was quite interesting. Even though Patrick should have showed a little bit more emotion when telling his wife about the unexpected divorce. Also I'm so team Mary, even though she has serious dementia. Lol Alfred Hitchcock is amazing, there was still some form of ambiguity kept through out the story
....what this "ring test" she's talking about? I've never heard of it. And, applying to the video, that was the MOST CASUAL divorce announcement I've ever heard. I mean, geez! You're leaving your pregnant wife for your mistress!
