Physics? I don't need no stinking physics! The hilarious part is that people believe the .45 ACP actually does stuff like this. Tell that to the people who relied on the myth of the .45's "Knock-down power" instead of practicing marksmanship.
So, where does one buy those "Infinite Capacity" mags for the 1911, I can only seem to squeeze 8 rounds in mine... ;)
"John Smith" must be a time lord (Isn't that one of Doctor Who's aliases anyway?) , his mags are clearly constructed on Galifrey and use Time Lord technology, they're "bigger on the inside" ;)
no bullet in the world throws you away....it just rips apart pieces of you...bounce around inside you, clean penetrate you, shred inside you, explode in you...but it is a scientific fact that apart from you falling down in whatever position you like the energy of the round does not affect the trajectory of the fall.Hollywood just offers show.Sorry for spelling, but English is not my first language.
I know that the power of the .45 is exagerated in this movie, as well as the capacity of the 1911s, but I don't really care because Bruce Willis is so bad ass. Also, I really like the sound effect that they used for his guns.
To, "cclampe": multiple hits at close range with 230 grain bullets WILL do that to a human body.
I'll let you in on a lessor known fact about the .45 ACP.......
Most people believe the 1911 pistol was developed to stop charging infantry at close range, namely, the Morai warriors in the Philippines..........
They're wrong..............
Actually, it was developed to stop CHARGING CAVALRY AT CLOSE RANGE (HOLY SHIT!) If you don't believe me check out the "Thompson-LaGarde tests" of 1904.
If the impact of the bullets had enough energy to throw a human being around like a rag doll, the recoil of the gun would be so severe that it would have the same effect on the firer of the gun. Remember your most basic physics: for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
To answer everyone's question, no double-stack mags didn't exist during Prohibition. 8-round single-stacks hadn't been intented yet either. 7-rounders only. If he loaded his chambers first and had his mags full, he'd have a total of 16 rounds loaded. Every successive reload would yield a total of 14 rounds since he wouldn't have time to load the chambers before inserting fresh mags.
sad that the director failed to be more realisitic with these scenes. i mean a 1911/colt have maybe an amount of max. 8 bullets and he fires with his gun like it is a mac10. but besides that i love the movie. the action-scecnce are insane and bruce is so cold and cool in his role that he piss ice-cubes... luv that movie
One of my favorite movies. I just wish I was back in the prohibition era. I can probrably find plently of work. Nothing better than a pair of 1911's and plently of ammo.
This has john woo all over it. Over the top but i love it all the same.

Where can I get a 1911 with a flush-fit mag that holds 32 rounds?!

NOOOOO!!! This would have been awesome but you cut out the best part!
When he's on the stairs in the 2nd to last scene and he reloads his guns they emphasize the metallic sound when the slides go forward.
I dunno but I love that little part :(

I like how when some of the guys get hit with "God's Caliber"-- the .45 ACP. they react like a 60mm mortar exploded in their hands.

Smith's a mad man with those duel .45s. I can see him and Hicky working together. A two man extermination squad.
