  • LOL it's funny but not surprising that Heenan tries to join the nWo even though he has a huge hatred for Hogan. This just goes to show that the nWo at this time was just too powerful and even Heenan knew it would be a better career choice to join them than to go up against them.

  • good times, old times, have it on VHS :)

  • Jim Ross was no Bobby Heenan???

  • Bobby did the best he could with his time in WCW. If you have an unreasonable boss that just doesn't have a good vision or good ideas ... you unfortunately are only as good as they will let you be since they are the one who is paying you. Believe me ... I am in the same situation now at my office with an unreasonable boss who makes horrible decisions.

  • @MystikWizard Yeah, it sucks...and its the employees who suffer the most.

  • Amazing how wrestling has such great commentary and the NFL doesn't.

  • sellout

  • I remember this and what was great about it was that Heenan was only NWO for that one episode of Nitro and then they threw him out, lol. The following week Tony Schiavone said to him, "You are a disgrace!" and Heenan just kept his head down the whole time and said, "I was just trying to get inside information from them, I never wanted in" lmao

  • @theELVISdoctors i didn't know this happen

  • Do you guys realize exactly why Rick Rude made the comment about Sting "deserves" to have his neck broken?? I know why.

  • @iwanttoseemrshow Because Rude's neck was injured in a match with Sting in Japan, ending his in-ring career.

  • @RayChiTown

no i think it was his back.

  • If Kevin Sullivan was Skeletor the NWO was the evil horde.

  • I agree, hearing Heenen as heel for nwo would have written itself.

  • The problem today is the announcers have no character and are quite silent. Then they talked and put EVERYTHING over! I miss that

  • Heenan has more talent than all of these guys combined.

  • They did the will he wont he join the NWo thing but to have him suck up to NWO then the minute things go wrong with them he back peddles to WCW was a typical thing Bobby Heenan would have done.It made sense but on commentary he should have been allowed to ham that up alot more. Now Dusty Rhodes joining the NWO made no sense what so ever.

  • Heenan running with the NWO bad guy thing would have fitted so long as they didnt make him wear a leather coat, lol.Na,It would have fitted Heenan perfect.

  • @Pulpedtoafiction31 Bobby would have been the perfect NWO member !!! Too bad it never happened.

  • There was only 2 people that rivaled Bobby Heenan as a comentator and that was his co mate and long time friend the late Gorilla Monsoon and Jessie Ventura. The rest never sold it like they did!

  • @Swampdog36 Ummm, Jim Ross?

  • @MiketheCabbie Jim Ross was no Bobby Heenan. The Brain and Gorilla were the best commentating team of all time

  • @ManBearPig2384 They're up there at the top, I'll give you that, but even though I was a wrestling fan in the 80s, during my childhood, the Attitude Era got me back into it, so I gotta put J.R. and the King right up alongside Brain and Gorilla.

  • @ManBearPig2384 FACT.

  • @ManBearPig2384 : Yep. Good luck trying to convince this generation of that though.

  • @ManBearPig2384 Bobby Heenan was no JIM ROSS .. and Jim Ross was no BOBBY HEENAN .. both were GREAT Commentators

  • lmao. Classic Bobby Heenan. He was such a weasel. lol.

  • LMAO @ BISCHOFF "SHUT UP!!!" AND NASH SAYIN I GOT GO TALK TO SOME1 ABOUT A HORSE LMFAO

  • Comment removed

  • Classic segment.

  • Heenan was so kickass that even being misused in WCW, he outshined pretty much everybody still!

  • @DClem1 He wasn't misused. He's just another guy who felt the need to badmouth WCW after the fact. He was treated very well in WCW and had a good run. The problem is that after WCW went under, everybody and their mother had something to say. He made a lot of money and was treated well and he should be thankful.

  • @danteras23 I agree with all of that, and I'll add that as much as I love Bobby Heenan as a character and color guy, it was disappointing that he felt the need to trash WCW so much considering how unprofessional he was towards the end of his run there. For whatever reason his sharp wit declined. To me, it looked blatantly obvious on live TV that Heenan was often completely hammered, you could almost see the fumes in his breath. Hearing Tony Schiavone try to cover for him made for awkward TV.

  • @boxeo911 Unfortunately, a lot of guys took the opportunity to pile on after WCW went under. As a fan, I found it very disturbing and low class on the part of many guys that I once respected. These were the same guys who had no trouble waving the WCW flag when it was on top and beating the WWF, but then jumped ship like a bunch of rats when it went under. The guys who did it know who they are and it wasn't lost on people who watched it go down.

  • LMAO! i love it when bobby graveled

  • I would of hated dear old Bobby joining the NWO it just wouldn't have been right they were such an evil group and just very curious here was Heenan ever the babyface commentator in WCW or not he never always showed much admiration for the NWO and every now and then was quite sarcastic about Bischoff which left me in a fit of giggles

  • why didn't bobby heenan just blow him??? just sayin'

  • Wow! bobby heenan should have never stooped this low, this is pathetic the way he is talking to eric bischoff. Bobby Heenan is greater than bischoff will ever be.

  • anyone got him with them announcing though?

  • Comment removed

  • Hogan as a heel sucked The Weasel as a heel like Larry Zbysko shouldve made em both heels

  • rick rude

  • only eric would blow a great idea like heenan in nwo

  • They should have let Bobby Heenan be himself while he was there, he never seemed happy doing commentary there.

  • Part of me actually thought it was a great idea to have Heenan NOT join the NWO. It made it seem like they were so bad, even Heenan, who loved all the other heels, hated them. Seemed like it put them on another level.

  • @Ironslave28 Absolutely. Also,Heenan hated hogan from day 1, so it would have been strange for him to suddenly cheer for him. This way, he hates Hogan so much that no matter what, he'll take the opposite side of him.

  • @Ironslave28 i agree

  • my favorite announce team will forever be heenan and gorilla monsoon.

  • I punched the "post" button too soon - I meant to follow that Gene Hackman quote with -

"And Heenan is sure kissing their asses!!"

  • To borrow a phrase from Gene Hackman in "Crimson Tide,"

    I can't stand save-asses, and I WON'T ABIDE kiss-asses!!"

  • They should've made Heenan an honorary NWO member for being a classic heel for years without any questions asked!

  • They had no respect for the tradition of the past or someone like Bobby. They purposely embarassed Bobby and made him look like a total asshole. I know he hated this, I know he had reservations about doing this and they really made him look like a loser.

  • Sabin06 NWO didnt run WCW into the ground wcw was sold under turners feet. NWO broght ratings to that show and NWO was gone be4 WCW ran into the ground.

  • but the story went on for too long and the ratings went down slowly, by 98 wcw already in trouble. thats all I have to say

  • Eric Bischoff was, is, and always will be a worm.

  • @patsman191 Good thing too, since the NWO got real stale real fast.

  • yea NWO ran WCW in the ground

  • Now that is true after that gimmick was over they had nothing except Goldberg and they took the belt off hm to early.

  • Yea it was all the nWo and Hogan/Bishoff. It had nothing to do with Jamie Kellner or the sale of Turner Braodcasting to AOL/TIme Warner. No, it was all Hall and Nash's fault... The canceling of Nitro and Thunder because it didnt fit AOL/TW idea of programing had nothing to do with the downfall of WCW... Stop being stupid.

  • @Duddy316 Heenan's character wasn't exactly tag team partner with the truth though ;)

  • Heenan made wrestling even more fun back in the day. What a great personality..

  • why did heenan leave wwf in 1993 for? money?

  • According to his book he left cause wwf/e needed to make cuts he even offered to take a pay cut to stay but that was refused so he went to wcw

    heenan is a true legend!

  • @theabsolutetruth he left because he didn't want to work 7 days a week anymore and wanted to live near his daughter, who lived in Florida. He has often said "I got a paycheck and went home." You can find shoot interviews with him here on youtube where he says this. In truth, he HATED the WCW, and thought it was poorly run.

  • I read Heenans book. He didnt say he hated WCW. He said he hated Tony Schiavone. Tony was the reason Heenan said he took the paycheck and went home. Sciavone would tell him to shut up at times. To say Heenan hated everything about WCW just isnt true. It was his broadcast partner he didnt like. In his book he talks about how Schiavone was telling him to shut up from the very first match they called together and how Tenay was the only one who got along with everyone & had to be their go between

  • @BruiserDrop I don't doubt anything you said. If you go to youtube / watch#!videos=zHZGSwVsLlU&v=HQI4tQ0ZK9s (spaces inserted so the URL isn't blocked) you can listen to his entire shoot interview. that is why I said what I said. In this interview he absolutely states he hated WCW, Again, I don't doubt what you read...but I was merely repeated what Heenan says on this interview. It's one hour long, and I think you'd enjoy listening to it.

  • ok I see what your saying. I'll check it out a bit later. Thanks.

  • the difference between wwf faking it, and wcw faking it, is that wcw had an unreal sense of it actually happening or being possible. So what you may look at as faking here....you know there's truth about it. That's what made wcw golden during this time.

Not like a "show" like wwf was having goofy characters and whatnot.

  • the stuff that happens isn't all fake you're wrong!

  • actually in case you didn't realize....that's fake. You think that's how he left the WWF?

He probably came to an agreement with vince, letting him know that he was changing companies. So they wrote his chracter off that way.

    Knowledge is power!

  • Ha ha I remember this! Heenan, of course, never joined the NWO. In fact he was one of the many WCW heels who OPPOSED the NWO. Of course they couldn't make Heenan do something heroic so they had him do this brown nosing act for this one show.

  • I've never seen Heenan kiss ass like that before. yikes.

  • They should have ran with this gimmick.. it would have been great to hear Hennan on commentary beinga heel. He was out of place in WCW when he was told to not put over people. They really did not use his talent correctly.

  • @ChromeFamily WCW was so poorly run it was things like not having Heenan as a hell during the NWO era that led to its failure. Heenan was one of the greatest heels of all time, and the type of guy you love to hate. His digs at faces and fans were often hilarious and made him one of the best in the biz.

  • @ChromeFamily u think so???? i thought Bobby did a great job for his stay there.

  • he looks like a game show host! cmon bobby, u dress better then that

  • u can tell bobby is not excited about doing this! u can tell

  • I gotta give Heenan credit for selling this as well as he did, considering he really wasn't on board with this idea.

  • first off, bobby and hulk are friends. it was all an act. bobby got hogan to join awa, and hogan got bobby to join wwf

  • bobby didn't always get along with hogan liar!

  • dude yes they did. ive heard several interviews by bobby and read both his books, ur a liar!

  • Guys, Heenan himself said he is/was cool with Hogan. It was an act. Their characters hated each other in the AWA and WWF so it just continued in WCW. You don't have to be a Hogan or Heenan mark to know this. There is no heat and was no heat between the two.

  • bobby lied in the book, him and hogan didn't always get along!

  • nigga just because YOU don't believe so, doesn't mean he lied in his book. Shut the fuck up and go watch your cena, and PRETEND like you know wrestling.

  • Please lay off that word please :d

  • @gnetikjakhammer fuck you racist

  • 0:40 Ah-wha-wha...

  • heenan said he should be remember the greatest attraction the business ever seen its a good comment hehhehehe

  • Vince Russo is a turd.

  • right chuck but at the same time , for that time it was something different

  • Vince Russo is the biggest asshole. Bischoff also. Every time Nitro or a PPV was in Flair country, North Carolina, they booked Naitch in humiliating programs. Their only concern was sucking up to Hogan and Nash, while making Flair, Arn and others look like idiots.

  • You can tell the Bobby Heenan pained to say that shit about Bischoff.

  • I agree. He probably threw up after this skit. Bischoff sucked and killed WCW along with Russo. I can't believe they reduced a legend like Heenan like this.

  • oh u are right

  • thats where the nwo went wrong, they had everyone join it in an attempt to put talent over. it was like oh this guy has potential what can we do with him, oh i know put him in the nwo.

  • @chuckrockssox It did help Konnan and Buff Bagwell, but not someone like Mike Rotunda or Virgil, for example.

  • nwo did the same things the horsmen did, but the nwo were very ultra violent

  • Oh I see why I missed this NWO NITRO. Damn they ran the NWO thing in the GROUND! Half the damn roster joined the NWO. Everything the NWO did the Horsemen already dead. The Horsemen were trensetters. WOOOO

  • yea but the nWo took their material and went in a whole other direction, and ten times more successful than the Horsemen

  • Hell no. They had a bigger stage, with all the cable channels, ppv's and Nitro and Thunder. More Successful, guess that's a matter of opinion.

  • they were the reason WCW was ahead in the MNW for roughly two years, their t-shirts are top ten highest selling of all time....yes they were more successful. the nWo was a whole other type of faction than the horsemen, the horsemen were schoolyard bullies, the nWo were invaders

  • @JordanSayz There's no denying the NWO was why everybody was watching Nitro at the time, but it was a lack of a long term plan on Eric Bischoff's part that was why WCW eventually failed.

  • @landrykkb Personally, I just watched Nitro for wrestlers like Jericho, Benoit, Malenko, Saturn, Raven and the Flock, Filthy Animals...........and MENG. Haku FTW. Never did like the NWO stuff much, always switched it back to Raw for those segments

  • @maxpower789z The NWO segments eventually got old and WCW could therefore not branch out beyond that. It's always a recipe for disaster when the top guns in the company aren't putting over the up and comers, which Hogan and Nash were infamous for not doing.

  • you realize those were characters, right? not really them....???

  • and what in the hell did sting have anything to do with that? he was nWo too in case you forgot

  • @ed2kou1 Exactly, and The 4 Horsemen had all the NWA titles in their possession themselves on at least more than one occasion.

  • Bobby Heenan, icon !!!!!!

  • the only reason I say there is heat between them is because I never once heard bobby say anything good about hogan even in interviews not related to wrestling and vice versa with hogan but your 100% right when u say today's wrestling is garbage in fact I think your being kind when u say garbage cause I think it's fuckin horseshit and it wont get better anytime soon in fact if tna doesn't make a serious run at wwe it will probably never get better

  • I hope I didn't get this wrong. Did you say Hogan and Hennan had heat? Because that is untrue. They don't have any personal heat with each other.

  • If u read what I said again you will see that I said I always felt there was heat between them not that I knew for sure there was just that I felt there was and I explained why I felt that way now unless you have some inside knowledge which I doubt very much you cant say for sure that your 100% certain there is no heat between the two of them I never heard bobby one timesay anything nice towards hogan in characteror out of character so it just makes me wonder is my point

  • I already established I didn't read what you said properly, and hoped I did not get what you said wrong.

Bobby Hennan does not have heat with Terry Bollea. I can tell you that categorically. Trust me, I'm a Hogan mark, I know who has heat with Hulk.

  • being a hogan mark doesnt mean you know for sure what goes on backstage or who has heat with who Im a huge hogan fan and have been since 1983 when he came back to the wwf to start his big run I remember piper hating hulk for years and years then on the day they went into the wwe hall of fame he not only buried the hatchet with hulk he admitted he was jealous of him for so long I was shocked to hear him admit it the point is unless your actually imvolved in the business you really dont know

  • Hogan and Heenan do not have heat. I can tell you that for sure. trust me.

  • Just needed to add. Hogan, Hennan and co back in the WWF were known as the Minnesota crew. There wasa backstage kliq which, had the guys from the AWA in it. Another was the Calgary guys (Bulldogs, Bret, Anvil etc).

    They don't have heat.

  • Hogan, Heenan, who else was in it?

  • To be honest I'm not sure who else exactly. I heard about their kliq in a Ricky Steamboat interview from a while back.

The kliq's back then were didn't have huge political pull like the HBK kliq or the kliq in WCW.

  • Oh, thanks !

  • Ventura and Hogan have heat, but Bobby and Hogan basically love eachother.

In almost every interview I've ever seen Bobby is kissing Hogan's ass.

  • they use to have personal heat!

  • @oldschool6804 not always getting along is different form having heat with each other. Learn the actual terminology.

  • I always felt there was real heat between heenan and hogan I don't know why but I noticed when hogan joined nwo heenan still never liked him and heenan as a heel announcer always liked the heels but bobby was great he could make u laugh or get u pumped up for a match with his eyes closed he is without a doubt one of if not the greatest talker ever in the business it's a shame he got sick he could still to this day cut promos better then half the guys in wwe if he didn't wind up getting sick

  • I'm pretty sure there was never any legit heat between Heenan and Hogan, Heenan was just that good at we did. I agree with everything else you said. Wrestling these days is garbage.

  • Bobby Heenan would never join the NWO;

    that's the team Hogan's on.

Heenan & Hogan are never on the same team.

  • well it clearly happened.

  • Comment removed

  • i wanna hear him broadcast the show now w rude and bischoff... funny stuff from the greatest manager and heel announcer of all time!

  • This was classic Bobby "The Brain" Heenan. He'd always kiss ass when it was to his advantage and that's what made him the best heel manager ever.

  • Kinda weird that Heenan was allowed to say "World Wrestling Federation" on WCW Nitro!!

I also agree that you can tell Heenan didn't like the way his character was used!

  • he can say dat. eric said "wwf" they al can say everyones names its just etiquette or ego that prevents it mostly.

  • NWO 4 LIFE

  • heanan was the best commentator

  • I heard that WWE TRIED to recreate this on an "ECW" PPV with Joel Gertner.

  • I think what your talking about is at One Night Stand 2006. I believe Joel wanted to join the whole WWE Invasion of ECW thing. He wanted a job with WWE and he pleaded and begged to Bischoff to hire him but Bischoff just shoved his ass to the ground.

  • You're right, but it was ECW ONS 2005, not 2006.

  • It was 2005. Your right! Thanks for the correction!

  • heenan lolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll you tun coat you haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • Eric Bischoff was funny as a heel commetator

  • Actually Eric Bischoff BLEW IT by not having Bobby Heenan join the nWo...it would have been great to see Bobby Heenan do his thing as an nWo member it would have added to it.

  • @powerofawarrior come on Heenan jumped back and forth so many times we never knew whos side he was on

  • Hell Tenay as far as i am concerned still doesnt have a personlity.. I never really liked Schiavone.. Heenan did his own announcing back in the day. He's extremely good at it.. Its just right now in pro wrestling Tenay needs to do something diffrent.. I am too used to the WWE discribing the moves and talking about the match as its happening instead of like TNA they go soo off subject.. in every match..

  • so right tenay knows wrestling but it is not an interesting character, ross, gordon solie, heenan, monson, all have thier own character. Tenay just doesn't.

  • man i totally agree

  • Kevin Nash had the best one-liners. Damn he was funny.

  • @Darwinite He could compete with Bobby Heenan in that department.

  • I agree with all028, this should have turned into an angle. But this just like with other many good ideas WCW had in their hands, it was just thrown out the window.

  • Not an example of Heenan at his best. One of the earlier comments I think rings true when it was stated that Heenan didn't like doing this and was uncomfortable with it.

  • @TranqPJ That's because Bobby Heenan was much better at ad-libbing while he was himself.

  • heenan was the most talented individual in the entire history of pro wrestling.yes even more than flair and hulk, sorry to all the hulk and flair smarks but heenan stands tall above them all.

  • Thanks for posting this. I never saw this...

Heenan is one of the best heels next to Jim Cornette. I think WCW should've turned this into an angle

  • Maybe they should have let Heenan play Bischoff's part on WCW nitro. Maybe like an advisor/mentor/manager to the NWO, and he could have annouced the NWO matches He could have started all sorts of heat, he has great mic skills.

  • @tribebro Bobby Heenan couldn't take bumps at the end,and that was why he couldn't have worked in that role as the head honcho.

  • I remember this, but I can't recall what happened after this... I don't think anything came of it.

  • What happened AFTER this? Did Heenan really take Nash's seat? lol I can just IMAGINE hearing Heenan, Rude, and Bischoff doing commentary lol.

  • Bobby Heenan WCW wasn't the same as Bobby Heenan in the WWE.

  • He was still good, though.

  • Too true dude.

  • u can tell heenan did not like having to do this, he isnt excited to do this. he just wanted insurance and get paid

  • What the hell happened with Bobby at 1:45?

  • i think he was too close to the edge of the stage.

  • It's only a one time thing. Kinda of a shame, because most of the nWo were ex-WWF stars: Hogan, Savage, Liz, Mr. Perfect, Rick Rude, Dibiase, IRS, Virgil, Boss Man, 123 Kid, Razor, & Diesel.

  • wow i totally forgot about this haha crazy...heenan was the best

  • i dont recall this
