Engine size doesn't always matter on a drag strip. It's about Torque over Horsepower, and just because your engine is smaller or larger in qubic inches doesn't mean you have more of either of the two.

Guarentee you it doesn't. I've ran 0-60 mph runs in the 6.5-6.7 range consistently with the tailgate both up and down. Reducing tire psi in the rear tires and increasing psi in front tires of a FR-layout will improve performance. Windows down do create drag.
@RampageThunder9 ....I should have said not so much in a drag race as it is over quick... but over a longer haul (daily driving) it does, as the air comes down over the cab and will catch the tail end of the box area (tailgate) and when the gate is up... air gets caught in the box providing a 'cushion' to deflect the air coming over the cab to carry it over the back end of the truck. ...but in this instance i doubt that amount of drag would really have much effect over a 1/4 mile haul.

@lcmexicano ..no it was a late '90s -2000 Ford....and the regular cab Ram would have no problem pulling the 12,000lb chippers all day long... We also had a fleet of F-150's (2001/2's) at another shop and the guys bitched all the time how gutless they were yet how they drank fuel. We ended up with Ram 1500 (crew cabs) when the lease was up on the Fords and they guy never had that problem again,
@angusandleigh well thats the old version of fords the 2004 to 2008 F-150s got better but people had more recalls with rams in the 2000s hemis are pretty good engines but not as good as the ford's triton the triton is known to last longer than a hemi and to pull more than a hemi but the only thing that the hemi is better than triton is speed now the 2011 ford trucks have new engines so now the 6.2L and the 5.0L even the 3.5 ecoboost can now tow twice more than a hemi and now alot faster in speed
