  • why cant the plans be free for once

  • can u turn up the volume for this video?

  • @mriambronx Glad to have helped. Post up a video response of your flight! Thanks

  • what material do u use? and awsome video

  • @TheGAMEBOYS2000 6mm Depron foam. Thanks for watching!

  • i cant buy servos cuz im just 10

  • how many volts is your battery?

    thanks for the help

  • are those T-pro mini servos good? compared to digital esky servo?

  • @heberorozco I have never used either of those servos. I have used the HXT 9 grams for this build. The best are the Hitec HS-55's. Thanks for watching.

  • @FangarJim oooh cuz i see that the servos you use are blue so the T-pro are blue too, oh well nice clean build though!

  • can you use a 6-channel radio/receiver and still work?

  • slow printer

  • how long is the propeller? and is it plastic or steel?

  • where did you get all the electronics?

  • where did you download the plans?

  • how do you cut the plans

  • @guitarharish using a sharp utility knife and caution

  • thanks again for the explanation on the motor prop combo. as everyone has noticed Jim responds to questions and spending the few bucks to get his plans are well worth it. this is by far the best most helpful plans on the net. thanks again jim.

  • Thanks for the kind words Scott! I am always available to help if you have any issues with the plans...! ~ Cheers.

  • Jim,

Thanks for the video. The question I have is regarding having the motor spinning backwards. How does the motor spinning backwards and the prop on backwards vs the motor spinning normal and the prop normal affect performance. also with the battery what is the range on flight time.

Thanks again & God Bless our Troops

  • I think folks are getting confused here as dingo might be... The motor is placed into the plane physically backwards, meaning the propeller shaft is facing the rear of the plane. The motor is not wired to run backwards, rather it runs the correct direction as if it were mounted normally in the plane. Instead, the propeller is mounted on the shaft backwards. If you take a look at the 0:05 mark in this video, you will see the mounted motor and prop the motor mounted in the plane

  • ok jim, i understand. how does the prop on backwards help? what is the difference of just reversing the engine spinning direction and mounting the prop in the correct position?

  • The props are not designed to run that way. The pitch is cut into them. You will see what I mean when you try to mount it up that the time of the build. The pitch of the APC props are only designed to run one way...

  • Also, I have a set of plans available for this plane now that has ailerons that function off of the same 2 servos. The plans are only 8 bucks and show how to set the plane up. If you click the link in the description bar to the right, you will see some close-up photos of the plane, motor setup and the new design. Cheers!

  • I was wondering if I could use a C20 Outrunner 1550kv instead of the Turnigy one? I got mine from Hobbycity., great little motor. Is it a pusher prop? cause thats what it looks like.

    Thanks, Matt

  • I am not familiar with that motor, though most will work as long as they are not too big. Your results will vary. The motor is mounted in reverse, but I just use a regular electric prop placed on the motor backwards. ~ Cheers.

  • Reverse the motor?, cause reversing the prop doesn't do anything or am I missing something?

  • The motor is placed into the plane backwards from a normal mount so that the prop mount faces the rear of the plane (pusher). Then the propeller is placed on the motor shaft opposite of the way it would normally mount on the shaft. The front of the prop facing the motor. In other words, the prop is essentially facing forward as normal, but since the motor is installed backwards, the prop is mounted on the shaft backwards... Clear as mud? =). Sorry if that is confusing.

  • Thanks for all the help, but the only way it will work for me is if, well you know the way you hook up the motor to the speed control for a regular plane? Well I just swap two of the wires so now my motor runs backwards than normal so I guess thats what I will do it.

  • Yeah, that will reverse the rotation of the motor, but that is not the issue here. The issue is that the motor is mounted backwards. Have at it! =)

  • which sheet use to make plan

  • 6mm Depron.

  • thanks

  • looking back at these older videos i think maybe it is within reach to build one of these myself. this plane would be my throw in the trunk plane.

  • Thanks for plans! I really love this plane!

  • Hi i want to make it too but where can i get this material ?

  • it was awesom, but can you tell me where can i get this plan?..

  • Link to the right ============>

  • what motor i should use for 6x4 prop and for mediumfast speed and brushh plzz

  • See below for the motor... If you are asking for a brushed motor, this isn't the plane for you.

  • Hello...

    thats very good make.

thanks man for this video it's fun . :)

    Have a nice day.

  • how do u make plans i realy want to know if you can tell me that would be great

  • Visio or Inkscape to draw the plans to scale. Usually off of measurements I take from a build. In other words, I build the planes first and then make the plans from the plane. Then there are various programs for conversion to .pdf files. Takes time and getting used to drawing in a CAD environment.

  • can you please list the materials? Thanks

  • Hello. I get my motors and ESC's for this plane from United Hobbies.

    Motor: TURNIGY 28-22-A 1600Kv Outrunner

    ESC: TowerPro 9g w12A Brushless

    Servos: Hi-Tec HS-55 (x2)

    Battery: Thunder Power Lipo 3S - 910mah

    Receiver: Hi-Tec 5s.

    Hope that Helps ~ James

  • can you bind the HI-Tec 5 receiver to a spectrum DX6I transmitter or do you have to get a spectrum receiver? great video

  • The Hi-Tec 05s is a 72mhz receiver. In order to bind with a 2.4ghz like the spectrum, you would need to get a 2.4ghz receiver. They make some lightweight and cheap ones now days. Thanks for watching!

  • Thanks Fangar so much! This was my first every DIY scratch foamie . I've been in the hobby for 5 months now. And this taught me alot. Although there were a few things a beginner needs to know before building but research is golden.

  • that looks good but the thing atatched to the

    servo is called what

  • They are called the control linkages or push rods.

  • what are those stick thing that's attached to the servo called?

  • Push rods...

  • I have printer your plan and its cool - my depron is on order but could you tell me what angle the tail fins need to be set at ?? - thanks very much

  • Sorry for the delay. I have been busy. The Vertical Stabilizers are attached at a 68 degree angle to the body. Good luck with the build.

  • What setup are you using? (speed control motor battery etc)

  • Thanks for the plans I printed them out and they seemed too big is the canopy supposed to be 17 inches long it just seemed too big response would be appreciated!

  • Not sure what you are referring to by the "Canopy", but if the printed scale on the plans matches a ruler, then you are good to go.

  • on part 2 at :45 seconds that part just wondering

  • Sounds about right. Did you match the scale of the printer ruler on the plan with an actual ruler? The should be the same.

  • Thanks it just seemed kind of big for the plane, o well it looks good, flies good, its good for me. =) Now I can start the construction after my depron gets here *sigh*

  • I saw this video and thread on RCGroups. I favorited that site and have built the plane with the HXT Micro brushless Outrunner 1800kv. Flies nice! Great build!

  • man ..I continue..I don't now what's engine to use..if you can..say to me a group of engines who I Should use in my plane, because I haven't anyone and I have to buy one..

  • i found the plans..and I start! but what's the name of the glue?? and.. what tipe of glue is it??

  • The glue needs to be foam safe CA which is usually the odorless variety. If you are not familiar with the glue, I hope that you are familiar with scratch building. Good luck! Keep us posted.

  • hey thas a good video!

man..i can't found the planes..could you please send to me or post a link here..

i will do it , if you do it.. ;)

  • The plans are available on my website. There is a link over there -------------------------->

In the information box. Cheers~ James

  • i wonder why no one watches it is a good vid

  • first post btw nice vid it really cool

  • Thanks for watching! It is a great flying plane.
