The second movie takes place after full scale war, where the cities have been destroyed and society has crumbled.
The 3rd movie is supposed to be 10 years after 2, but doesn't add up. Kids, Max too young for it.

@GunsOfThePhoenix Not true. A guy ALMOST died. Remember the part where the guy flips off his bike and does all of the flips in the air? That wasn't supposed to happen. He was only supposed to sort of dive off the bike. Also, if you look closely, you can see his leg is bent oddly. The shot was kept because it was so authentic. I am a BIG Mad Max fan.

This is still the best Australian Film ever made. So many films have been inspired by Mad Max. Take a look at any post-apocalyptic movie and you will see similarities.
@DancingSpiderman The Arnold movies...with Arnold in them. The music had similar instrumental sounds with an emphasis on epic (just like 'The Road Warrior').
I played this movie at gay man's bathouse once when I was cashier. I was tired of seeing porno, and would occassionaly sneak in a regular movie, that played to the house guests. the idea to this movie was good, but id like to talk to the costume guy. I've never seen the Mad Max movies but they always struck me as films I'd like to see.
I've always had an interest in post-apocalyptic stories and this one, Mad Max 2, is often held by many as being the best film in that genre.
I don't know if that's true or not, but given my liking for 80's films, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and watch it.

@GunsOfThePhoenix Not true. A guy ALMOST died. Remember the part where the guy flips off his bike and does all of the flips in the air? That wasn't supposed to happen. He was only supposed to sort of dive off the bike. Also, if you look closely, you can see his leg is bent oddly. The shot was kept because it was so authentic. I am a BIG Mad Max fan.

@LifeForm0 Actually, The first Mad Max didn't set off until 1979, so Damnation Alley actually came first. But everything else mentioned, I agree. Also to add,The first 'Saw' movie ripped off that the last scene in Mad Max where Max gave one of the Toecutters people a handsaw while he had him ankle-cuffed to his motorcycle, giving him a choice to cut through the handcuffs or his ankle before the bike exploded.

I always laugh at the guy at 2:28 who accidently sets himself on fire and calmly begins trying to put it out. Hands on fire? Simply look at them in frustration (not pain) and slap your legs some more. "I'm all right! I'm all right!" as his hands and legs are on fire!

This is still the best Australian Film ever made. So many films have been inspired by Mad Max. Take a look at any post-apocalyptic movie and you will see similarities.

I played this movie at gay man's bathouse once when I was cashier. I was tired of seeing porno, and would occassionaly sneak in a regular movie, that played to the house guests. I never saw that TV room so full of people when they were watching this particular scene. They were even going "Ohhhh . . .!! . . . . Ohhhh . . . . Ohhh . . ."

Lost count of the amount of times I've watched this. Look closely at the shot when Max crawls out of the truck. Under the cattle catcher: you can see Wez' s arm sticking out holding the shotgun. Classic man. Oh & the bloke under the tent with the lass. He turns up again after he's killed by Max. Better shurrup. Giving too much away. The gasoline! We go! We go! Filmed at Broken Rock ;)

the idea to this movie was good, but id like to talk to the costume guy. What the fuck was he thinking? good cast, good story (well... rather), loads of recources to do it and what did they come up with? gay vilians in tight leather outfits with lots of naked flesh. Oh god in heavan do i wanna see that? NO! its postapocalyptic for christs sake! its supposed to be cool and dim and dark and brutal but for the love of god not homo! (disclaimer: i do not intend to offend any homosexuals by that)

@KnowImillian, sorry, women love the Mad Max series, and not for the usual "Mel was so gorgeous" reasons. It's only now that we have these moronic labels with dumbed down shit films filling each category - shit "chick flicks", crap buddy/action flicks geared for guys and so on. Be it Mad Max 1 & 2 or Bullitt, The French Connection, The Mackintosh Man or James Bond - they were made for everyone, and that's probably why they were among the coolest films ever made.
