  • I absolutely love Jessica Harper's interpretation of Janet. I can't believe that I've met people who say that she's a bad actress simply because she's playing Janet, and isn't Susan Sarandon. Not only was her acting good in ST, but she was AMAZING in Suspiria and Phantom of the Paradise. Insulting her because she ins't trying to be Sue is just unfair.

  • This song and her voice grew on me.

  • I actually prefer Shock Treatment to RH now, and this Janet... Even the songs!

  • She has such a lovely voice!

  • a movie about reality shows... before there were any reality shows.

even here, we see how it impacts life to have your own constantly watched.

  • I love this song, and this movie. But it would have been better if it wasn't related to RHPS...

  • This is GREAT!!!

  • u have successfully succeed in getting this song stuck in my head (:

i love this and i love bet and nation laughing in the beginning and Cosmo's thinking 'i work with a bunch of idiots' hahaha i can't help not laugh with them! (:

  • I know everyone bags the new Janet, but this is one of my favourite songs of all time and I sometimes wonder what Rocky Horror would have sounded like with Harper as Janet (sacrilege!). Not a fan of shock treatment the film but the music is out of this world.

  • @shiftaling I like Harper's voice better than Susan's. Grant it Susan had a very light innocent voice-which I guess fits Janet Weiss and Jessica has a deep strong voice which fits Janet Majors but...I like her a bit better.

  • Is she holding the same purse that she had at the beginning of The Rocky Horror Picture Show? I can't really see it in this video, but I remember Janet had a white bag in Rocky Horror!

  • She never blinks!

  • This is actress Jessica Harper singing. i love her voice. talked to her a few times in email and she signed the shock treatment dvd and cd for me as well as patricia quinn who plays nation in the movie.

  • @geminidreamatl26 ohh ur soo lucky! i would die if i had an autograph frm pat quinn! shes my fav actress! i love her in rocky horror & shock treatment! :D

  • Yeah, I think that Shock Treatment does seem very ahead of it's time in it's media constructed live-in enviroment, people being crafted as iconic celebrities theme. Maybe that's why it didn't do as well in 1981.

  • @allaboutdmagic That's exactly why it didn't do so well. I'm sure there was some sort of reality tv in the early 80s that I can't think of at the moment, but reality tv and iconic celebrity crowd pleasers. The whole concept-mental health as something to watch was literally 20 years too early. If this came out in 2001 it would have done better. I'm sure there are fast food commercials during Dr. Drew's programming.

  • Whoever sings these songs has got a great voice.

  • This Should be remade with O'brien, little nell , and the cast from both the US & UK version of the Office ?

  • @SOLIE6226

Hahaha, Ricky Gervaise as Bert xD I would pay good money to see that!

  • @TheCGIMaster Ah, that'd be EPIC!!!!!!!! Or Eddie Izzard XD

  • Is it wrong that I'm starting to enjoy ST's music more than RHPS's?

  • @eharsh87 Haha the same thing is happening to me! it feels weird

  • @MATTMAN92ish You know what I think it is? I think it's just that RHPS music is so overdone, for me at least.

  • @eharsh87 Not "WRONG", just a bold statement on how GREAT ST's music is!

  • Not knocking Richard O'Brien's genuine creativity/talent- the most underrated 20th Century composer -influenced I believe by old Ella Fitzgerald song, "Always True To You In My Own Fashion", a 1948 Cole Porter show-tune, written for "Kiss Me, Kate". In the song, singer protests that she's always faithful to her main love "in her own way"- even mentions "Ritz", R.O.B.'s nickname!

Some versions of the lyrics, even reference "Threepenny Opera"'s "Mack the Knife"- Cole Porter & Kurt Weill, who knew?

  • her eyebrows scare me.... she looks like Pam from The Office

  • I think her eyebrows are a nice feature

  • hey. she kinda does.

  • @dustin69798 ikr? me & my sis were making jokes about her while watching Shock Treatment and i was like 'omg, if u put her in some drag queen frank-n-furter make up she would look just like him!' and my sis is like 'omg, ur so rite' and we both start laughing our asses off! but other than tht, i rlly like this song lol

  • that chick has got some great vocal chords, y'know?

  • this movie was brilliant, it was way ahead of its time. i love it just as much as RHPS-the music in itself is amazing.

  • The commentary on the dvd is great, about how the movie prophesised reality tv lol. It's a great movie on it's own, probably would have done better if they had dropped any connection to rhps.

  • This was a great movie when looked at on it's own, it starts to lose something when compared to the RHPS. The two movies are on different levels.

  • "Bitchin' in the Kitchen Part 2!" Janet is beginning to see Brad as an obstacle! For those who saw the Rocky Horror Stage Show (or saw the edited DVD extra "Once In Awhile"), this is the reverse of Brad's "disillusionment" expressed there. Interesting how O'Brien created depolarized situations in both stories!

  • this movie is awsome nell campbell is hott in this movie i luv her shes my idol <3 nd patricia quinn nd richard o'brien are ao adorable 2 gether <3 :)

  • the songs in this film are legendary XD just wish people would quit comparing it to rhps << my fave film everrr (: amazing song x

  • I love this song. Thank You.

  • Awesome.
