Sternguard Combo! Proper Way To Support Them!

Would Assault Marines or Terminators of some sort also be viable Sterguard support? I got a Dread but thats just one dude, may as well know my other options.

That said I know how my dead, which I call Brother Darius, does a great job and this sort of thing.

@777rick777 both of those are good options. normal terminators can do the job well they shoot good right along the sternguard and can also handle assaults not to mention their anti tank with assault cannons/missiles the Assault marines are also good but they may get tied up into combat if you have them flying around on the table but nothing wrong if it protects the sternguard.

So would you keep the dread in cover as a threat of a countercharge to any opposing assault units?

@Grendelsbane No I would move him along with the Sternguard. I tend to allow him to move up to about 10 inches away from the sternguard this will allow him to cover the 6 inch movement and 6 inch assault to get into close combat if he failed to stop it from happening. he tends to be a little in front of the sternguard for me.

How do you keep the dread alive? I always get them popped when they leave cover. :/ The sternguard models won't give it cover as it trails along, right?

@Grendelsbane if you place the Sternguard directly in from/side of it they do indeed cover 50% of the dread and will give it cover. if you place them right in front of the dread you can see they give it cover =D and don't forget those smoke launchers ;D
