I was 6 years old and living in Royal Air Force Tengah when this film was made / i started school at the junior and infant school there / right next to the runway (almost) i remember that day when a Venom Jet flew into a married quarter near the school when it was taking off in formation / we witnessed quite a lot of the action whilst living there / The best thing i remember - well- it was the Base swimming pool / i practicaly lived there - in that pool enjoying myself / Good old days they were
The true glory days of Singapore when it really was a gem.Mysterious and inviting...Unlike what it has turned into.Shopping centers after shopping centers.
wow this is really history! its a wonderful Singapore then, not like now! i bet the air was much more cleaner than now. people seemed happier then compared to now, where the government now is busy squeezing the citizens of their hard earned money! who cares about the poor anymore? Then was so much different, I really envy those born in the 50s', they don't live long enough to see the agonies of Singapore now!
I know the shot with the white building and the bata shop in the background is Stamford Road; right after that is St Andrew's Cathedral; then the Singapore River; Cavenaugh Bridge; and the River again. Does anyone have any more info on the locations, especially the first shots?
well done. I was there as tiny boy at bright hill crescent and i went to nee soon school. I prefer old Singapore. Anyone that has old footage please upload.
