  • I'm SPECIAL!!!!

  • @goldengales14, McFeely was his mother's maiden name. It's not unusual for a child of two prominent families to get mom's maiden name for a middle.

  • Creepy. Ass. Video. Subliminal messages? Conditioning? I think yes.

  • F-R-I-E-N-D doesn't spell special. Plus, What up with the skin commercials randomly popping up? This video is weird!!!!

  • @RatchetXJ0 YOU FAIL. It was just a rumor retard

  • RIP

  • this guy was part of my childhood, and i'll never forget you, mister Rogers!!

  • I'm crying right now reading comments that mr Rogers died I liked him when I was little. I would just wanna call PBS to put his show back on rip mr rogers hope I see him in heaven

  • When I was 4, this was my favorite show. Children's television is crap today.

  • Mr. Rodgers died on my birthday ):

But I used to always watch his show. It was my favorite. (:

  • Who woulda known that Mr. Rogers was a NAVY Seal?

  • @RatchetXJ0

He wasn't, that is a false rumor.

  • @RatchetXJ0 Seriously?

  • @WaNkInGsQuIrReL I couldn't believe it myself?

  • i am the only one that shed a little tear at the last part?

  • He scares me. :c

  • did anyone else catch him say "I like you in the day time, in the night time" firgin' creepy

  • @TheMolly8125 BTW im talking about the night time part

  • this is why mr roger is the best rapper ever

  • this makes me feel nice

  • But Mr Rogers would also presumably say that people should like a vain person exactly as they are. So the video's cynicism doesn't work really.

  • A primer for ego maniacs!

  • @PeteUtonic I never much cared for the dialogue or philosophy. I just liked the puppets and stuff. I think it has to do with the fact his daughter had a mental breakdown in college. She was a straight A student, and when into suicidal depression after getting an A-, because she never felt she was ever good enough. I think either extreme is bad.

  • I posted this as my online Valentine, whats better then Mr. Rogers calling you special haha.

  • @grace8matangira Yay! Spread the love.

  • The funniest part about this is that Mr. Roger's full time is

Fred Mcfeely Rogers. Mcfeely!! Hahaha. That's why he likes us so much!

Who gives their kids the middle name Mcfeely??

  • I think Mr Rogers is the only one who thinks I'm special...

  • aging eyes!....AHHHHH illuminati!!!!!!

  • i hate who ever made this

  • this makes me sad.

I use to watch his show every time it was on, but now he's dead

  • Too old....do not want...no matter how special...

  • pedo . . . .

  • I miss him I used to watch him when I was 3 or 4 Rest In Peace :'(

  • R.I.P

  • Would anybody bitch if I wipe my ass with Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood? LOL

  • omigod this video is hilarious

  • R.I.P

  • AGING EYES

  • @MJ0range.... Mr Roger Ft Snoop Dog your special to me comming soon 2012

  • EPIC RAP BATTLE OF HISTORY!

  • I loved this show when i was a little one

  • Some people like to poke fun at mr. rogers but I've always felt even to this day that he had one of the best pbs kids show and he was really like that in real life as well. His message would make everyone feel special about themselves, it still hits me a little when I see a video today of him because I know he's being himself and honest about his message and not just there to pick up a check.

  • nicepeter MR. ROGERS VS MR. T EPIC RAP BATTLES OF HISTORY

  • shit. hes creepy "i like you in the day time"

"I LIKE YOU IN THE NIGHT TIME"

  • @celectistism117 You're missing the point

  • he had such a impact on my childhood for some reason

  • I don't think people are getting the meaning of this video...shame.

  • did he call me retarded

    and wtf

  • So many of the people are asking what's up with the beauty commercial. It was comparing them to masks and no matter how much makeup you put on that's not what makes you you.

  • PEDIFILE!

  • Who would dislike this??? U hope they die a horrible death

  • what was with the "aging eyes" ad???? wtf

  • 22 Pee-Wee Herman fans Dislike this video...

  • Sometimes I forget. Thank you kindly Mr. Rogers

  • @zantak180 yeah. I remember it like it was yesterday. I was kind of sad when they took it off air

  • I remember this on TV!! :D

  • Every part of you, your skin your eyes, your feelings! FFFFFFFFFFF

  • I LIKE WHO YOU ARE. GET IN THE VAN AND PULL YOUR PANTS DOWN AND SAY AHHHH.

  • To the 21 people who disliked this. Rest assure, Mr. Rogers still likes you for who you are.

  • PRODUCT PLACMENT!!!!

  • "Everyone is special." I agree, but if everyone is special, then that means we're all special... which means we're all the same, in that sense. Which means none of us are special, because we're ALL special. But we're all special. That means we're all unique. But if we're all unique, then we're all the same in that sense which means we're all the same.

That can keep going on and on and on, lol. Paradox much?

  • Wait... who is he rap battling now?

  • whats with all the beauty commercials?

  • Comment removed

  • Me too @ 4uli

  • 1:06 Truth

  • Was that freestyle??

  • Without the commericials, it would lose its point. It shows the utter foulness of the consumer mentality. In other words, if you don't look flawless, your nothing.

You're crap. Then, "It's you I like, the way you are." and the other clips. It's like ointment on a burn, it's so soothing. RIP, Mr. Rogers.

  • This is the ultimate showdown...

  • @GreyArmadillo of Ultimate Destiny

  • this would be so great with out this F*##ing adds......

  • I watched this cuz I just saw epic rap battles of history 13

  • This is a beautiful video, and a greatly inspired one at that. The commercials serve to prove something that should be obvious to us all, yet is constantly forgotten. You are yourself, and no matter what you change on the outside, you must be able to love yourself for the way you are. If you can't do that, then you have no hope of ever loving anyone else. Thank you Jalarson for helping me to relive a piece of my childhood. This actually made me cry a bit.

  • I'm scared...

  • HE LIKES EVERY PART OF OUR TOUCHAABLE LEGS

  • They would be smart to put these on dvd or blue ray, I believe they would make a ton of money !

  • He seems to be a fan of Emerson and "Self-Reliance"

  • LMAO DRESSED UP IN BIG PEOPLES CLOTHES OR DRESSED IN LITTLE PEOPLES CLOTHS

  • Jalarson what are you thoughts on people liking you for who you are, How do you feel about that. I was just wondering.

  • @Pic929

I think Mr. Rogers had an important message about being yourself and loving others for who they are. Most of the commercials that are in this video are sifted out of hours of "Days of Our Lives" recorded from the television. This was on the television around the same time that Mr. Rogers was aired on PBS.

  • @jalarson1

Most of the commercials are targeted towards women, and almost all of them have to do with hair and makeup. While I was looking through the discs trying to sort out the Mr. Rogers that was also recorded with the the soaps I noticed how aggressive and superficial the advertising was and I started to think about what Mr. Rogers had been saying to me everyday. When people grow up they forget about very simple truths and get bogged down with image problems, money problems,

  • @jalarson1

and other depressing issues that make us lose sight of very basic knowledge that the good people in our lives have tried to impart on us. I just wanted to let these women know that they don't need that shit and that it's making them insane. The part with the mask was just so perfect. Mr. Rogers was trying to say the same thing with that clown mask. He may have been talking to toddlers but adults need to listen to him as well.

  • @jalarson1 Yeah I agree, I think that a lot of people are not like that nowadays and they could use a lesson from Mr.Rogers. It seems like Mr. Rogers Had a good message but then thoose commericals that you had up were all about looking a certain way, That in a way you are not good enough you need to use this certain product so you can look better then you allready do and I guess in a way look better for others to accept us.

  • @jalarson1 I think Mr Rogers had a self loving narcissistic message that put false hope and expectations into the lives of millions of small children. I think the advertisers play on this by pointing out the fact that your not special (by showcasing supermodels etc) but then offering you a way to become that special, for a price of course. This strikes the heart of american narcissism and is why advertising is so effective.

  • @wildabeast11235

I disagree wholeheartedly. There's a difference between self-esteem and narcissism, and no child who watched Mr Rogers would come away behaving insensitively to others. Yes, they learn that they should like who they are, but they constantly learn the consequences of behaving irresponsibly or hurting others and how to make better choices

  • @grands1am Agreed, there is a line. And self esteem is important, but the kind of self esteem this show puts out is no good. Self esteem comes from self actualization. It is the feeling you ACHIEVE when you show yourself you can meet your goals. This is, "I'm special" self esteem. Believing your INTRINSICALLY special is a gateway to narcissism. Mr. Rogers isnt saying your special because of the good things you do or have done, but special for no other reason than, "you are you."

  • @wildabeast11235

I don't think I agree with your premise. It seems to me that saying everyone is unique is a literally true statement, so he's covered there. I don't see some automatic path from that to narcissism, which seems to involve massive disregard for others. Like I said, he constantly re-emphasized the reasons not to hurt other people

  • @grands1am Everyone's unique, what of it? What about that makes anyone any better? Anyways, i apologize for not clarifying my terms, so you are correct. What i mean to say is there are different types of narcissism. There is clinical, severe, massive disregard for others narcissism, but there is also a cultural narcissism. Cultural narcissism is a very direct result of this show and other shows, books, etc. like it.

  • @wildabeast11235

It does not make anyone any better and he never claimed that. I still can't imagine that narcissism of any kind would be a consequence of this show. He taught that you are an individual that can contribute something and that can be loved without trying to be someone else. You're imagining a brat that takes the message and warps it and I'm imagining an abused child or a child with no self-esteem that gains confidence and a sense of true inner worth

  • @grands1am Astute analysis. Maybe we're both projecting a little, eh? Still I stand though. The "self esteem" movement, including Mr. Rogers, has inflated Americas possibly noble individualism to a sort of disgusting narcissism. By "Americas" i mean the general sentiment of the nation, i.e. the culture. Advertising and consumerism also play a role in promoting in the hollow husk of self aggrandizement inherent in many Americans these days.

  • @wildabeast11235

I don't know about projecting since I had quite a happy childhood. I agree on the general point of inflated egos but I still can't include Mr Rogers in that at all.

  • @Pic929 he had a show that was in a different time than we know now, it was a positive and uplifting message he was sending and we are a better world for having him

  • I was wondering if there is any chance you could just upload the Mr. Roger clips and edit it out the commercial. I know you meant it the way you put it up, but that way people could have both.

  • @gtdannemiller

    No chance.

  • @gtdannemiller

    No chance.

  • Long live Mr. Rogers. Because I am special God damn it!!!

  • 1:57

  • We miss you, Fred.

  • The stark contrast really makes you think. Thanks for posting this!

  • Mr. Rogers is awesome! Not only does he say the words but he actually means them. So good.

  • Bless u Fred! I miss u so bad!

  • This makes me sad.....It seems that we let Mr. Rogers down : (

  • I'd tap that

  • That was so beautiful thanks

  • Provocative & unsettling. I liked this, & I say that as a nearly 50 yr old fan of Mr. Rogers. Though I haven't seen him in a while, I really appreciated that, no matter what a person did for a living, he treated them w/ dignity & respect, what they did as something meaningful & important. This reminds us that we could all stand to have a bit of Mr. Rogers grace & gentle wisdom in our lives - we'd all be happier and the world would be a nicer place.

  • @FeelFreeToArgue feel free to be molested by Mr Rogers the T-Rex.

  • I am glad to know that I am not the only one who can see the difference in the message we are receiving now from the 80's.

  • I am a Mr Rogers fan and I for one love your art piece :) the ending is the best part, when he's singing "It's You I Like" over the commercials. And I think the "rough" editing is the point, it shows the juxtaposition as jarring as it should be.

  • More! Great work, Joy. In fact, I'd love to see even more intercutting. It's a great idea. Thanks for taking the considerable time it must have taken to make this provocative piece. Onward and upward, ~ e

  • 3:45 Brilliance.

It's a shame some people don't seem to be appreciating the juxtaposition, but what can you do?

  • @DukeNavarre

    Thanks!

  • I love you Mr. Rogers.

I agree, the idea is pretty interesting, and I really did like the concept. However, editing was a bit rough at times. Overall, pretty fun to watch, though.

  • Hey! What's with the (cuckoo) ads?? Leave this alone as it is! :(

  • Hey! What's with the (cuckoo) ads?? Leave this alone as it is! :(

  • The Socrates of our time

  • This is some serious creepy stuff.

  • AHHHHHH LEARNING!!!!!!!!!! :O

  • Good contrast. Everyone should take a leaf out of mr. Rogers' book, and try to be more accepting of one another.

  • I did't like the commercials, but perhaps they show the utter vacous superficiality of the "cover girl" culture-i.e. people will like you only if your're beautiful skinny, have perfect clothes, and nice cars and jewelry. If not, you're trash. Mr. Rogers (an ordaind minister) shows the true love of people, even those most would call unlovable. A very Christian message, but it works for anyone.

  • subliminal message?

  • That's excactly what I want every man to say to me! *sob* *sob* I never trusted men after I have been bullied by mainly boys because of my disability and also in some points, I was told to change (I stood my ground) but I am glad from watching this video, there are nice people out there who love you for you..... but idiots out there want you to change and only worry about looks....

  • @AnimationAngel1 I like you just the way you are :).

  • Comment removed

  • I miss this show.

  • i know you're trying to make a point by adding in the commercials, but i guarantee that every person who watched this video just wanted to watch Mr. Rogers....so thanks for nothing.

  • @emily51805

I think if you look through the comments you'll find that many people enjoyed the piece as it is. Also, it was for an art project so if I just put a bunch of clips of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood together it would have been pointless. If you aren't thankful for anything you shouldn't use the word at all.

  • @emily51805 I thought he was making a good point. If you don't like it, well, I guess we can refund your $0.

  • agree , terrible editing bad idea not funny

  • @emily51805 You are a fucking faggot.

  • couldn't edit this better without the commercials?

  • who would trust their kid alone with Mr. Rodgers?

  • this wouldve been awesome without the stupid commecials in it

  • this is the creepiest video I have ever seen!

  • @LaurenRachel89 sacralige! Mr. Rogers is the next best thing to Jesus.

  • @missheath000 Mr. Rogers is better than Jesus. I don't recall Mr. Rogers ever endorsing slavery, for starters. Please read your bible.

  • "People can like you just the way you are, by just you're being you"!! You're special!!!

  • @braveryfan1

It doesn't matter how rough the world is.

You're still special, and friends are important.

It's really sad that the world has forgotten how important it is to have a good childhood.

    Have a good day.

  • @braveryfan1 if he was still on tv today, id be using my tv as target practice!

  • Mr.Rogers, you're so great.

  • Wanna notice a relationship?

Mr. Rogers generation (Up to 1990's) - Everybody has some sort of moral values (Kindness, treat others the way you want to be treated, etc.)

Post Mr. Rogers (2000+) - Everybody's a little shit who thinks they can get what they want and do everything half-assed, get drunk, and party.

  • why do loreal commercials keep popping up

  • @littlewrenify kuz it is a social commentary

  • I <3 Mr.Rodgers he was truly a kind, caring, and gental man that can never be replaced.

  • americanos, pfff

  • @thiagokronig

    Brazilians,pfff

  • this just made me sob and sob.

  • @Vestergaard

I made the thing and every time I watch it I have a hard time not crying as well. You can feel how much he loves humanity. He's sending us love from the grave.

  • Wow- this is amazing! Great job of making this video!

  • I have a documentary on Mister Rogers. Someone stole his car once, and it was reported on the news. The very next day his car was sitting in front of his house unharmed. True Story.

  • @zabc19

Only Mr.Rodgers can pull that off.

  • Advertising is an affront to humanity.

  • Fred Rogers was a mentor to me at a very young age, and I still look to his wisdom years later as a grown man.

  • @zubhilton i do too

  • @zubhilton

I'm 28 years old and this guy still makes me smile.

  • MR> Rogers iz in luv with u!!!?!

  • 0:22 Oh, God, what's wrong with his neck? Christ, I told Freddy never to try auto-fellatio!

  • @Alex98714 hahaha his neck im more worrie bout those eyes of curiosity hahahaha

  • What a great message. The rest of the media tells you everything you can do to change, but he says "You're special just the way you are."

  • Hey sis, great vid... Too bad Mr. Rogers had to die of the cancer

  • Johnny Costa was the man on the keys.

  • he should have been president

  • @oldmackheath I think the point of a contrast is to focus on both topics.
