  • Just the old fashion way to fillet a nice black bass.... nice video man

  • I resently moved closer to a fresh waster pawn, the water is very clean it is a pound made in 2005, there is minimal garbage maby 2-8 cluminum cans in the the pound, very clean and i just went to have some fun and i atually did very well i got 13 bass, i released them all but seen this makes me want to try the bass, i dont know if i should but i dont know what do you think ?

  • I dunno why everyones complaining. they seem like pretty clean cuts to me

  • im sorry but your method sucks you wasted tons of meat under the rips when u just cut it off like that

  • Thanks! I purchased a whole bass today and I wasn't sure how to fillet it. I watched a number of videos and frankly yours was the best. I can see that I might do it a bit differently (I will probably go over the ribs and not cut them away) but I can see why you do it your way. Keep up the good work and don't let the haters get you down.

  • Is it better to fillet as soon as you get home for an easier cut? I brought 4 spotted bass home, left them in the fridge and then fillet the next morning. I found the skin was a bit tougher..

  • i could never bring myself to kill a largemouth bass

  • @bassfishermn95 Why not? Is there anything wrong with someone who does?

  • Why?

  • aaaaa ho menny fish did u have in that barrle

  • Hi there did you see the roe why didn't you take it?

  • try cutting around the rib meat instead of cutting through the ribs, the rib meat is some of the best on the fish.

  • i just wana say those who say this is a bad vid or say he is a redneck fuck you all go get the knots out of your pannies great vid do you know how to clean a perch?

  • what about the lateral line bones?

  • Nice and quick method, I personally avoid cutting into the stomach as to not contaminate the meat, but looks like you cut around well.

  • What are you PETA bassmn? Dont be gay! Would you eat a walleye or a catfish?

  • Good job and thanks for posting this. I thought that was an excellent and quick way to get that done.

  • Fine, fine job Tam. No meat on the ribcage anyhow, better off not wasting the time. I catch tons of gills icefishing and I do it the same way. When a couple guys go fishing and limit out I have over 50 to clean. The electric knife is prime and junking the rib meat is fine by me. Thumbs up.

  • This is why we live in America, so we can catch and eat bass whenever we want. Nothing wrong with that. And if you dont like what he is doing dont watch. Matter of fact I am getting ready to fillet a 4 1/2 pound bass I caught just the other night. How do you like them apples.

  • fuck you for killing bass

  • Thanks for your logical argument against the retention of Largemouth Bass. I’m the one who caught, filleted, and ate the Largemouth Bass in the video. Largemouth Bass are a renewable and sustainable resource that will be the lakes in which I fish for the rest of my lifetime. Many of the oceanic fish species consumed by people around the world are being depleted at such a rate that many of them may no longer be fishable, or even extinct, in 40 years’ time. By the way, nice vocabulary.

  • @Teacherman1984 holy shit thats wrong in the first place, and 80% of largemouth bass have tapeworms. Hope u get um

  • @bassfishMN Actually it's good for people to catch and take bass that are 14-16 inch or 2-4lb. Those size of Bass are very aggressive and will eat out the food population down fast. Catch and release all 18 inch above 6lb+. A good lake should have a lot of little Bass and a lot of Huge one. If you start noticing your lake having a lot of 2-4lb then your going to see a lot of Bass not being as healthy as they should be.

Just do some research on good Bass Habitat pond or lake and you'll know

  • REactions?

  • Hey what lure did you use to catch so many of them?

  • i thought you saved a pretty decent amount of meat considering the speed in which you got it done. especially if you have another 15 to go. nothing worse than taking 3 hours to fillet just to save about a chicken nugget's total worth of meat from 15 fish....

  • nice way to do but if u cut outside of the rib u will get much more meat so u wouldnt have to waste good fish?!

  • im mexican i just take the guts, scales out and wash it and fry it and eat it lol

    not wast full

  • great video

    thanks, Devery

  • Why is everyone saying this is a waste? This is how I was taught.

  • for some rednecks u sure did leave a lot of meat!!!

  • what a waste... i think you should have a video shows how to catch and release...

  • you threw away the head?? its the best part :) maybe cus im korean. we make some bomb ass soup out of the heads

  • @darkx1004 lol

  • thats how i fillet my crappie aswell

  • thanks for the video!! It was helpful!

  • Ya, that seemed kind of... dare I say it... 'fishy,' how you cut it. A Bass that size should yield more meat... And you didn't cut very close to the spine like I've seen in many other videos. Also, real men use manual knives. Screw technology when it comes to good old-fashion backyard fillets!!!

  • I prefer a good bonless fillet such as this to a "less wasteful" fillet full of sharp pin bones and the less flaverful bits of meat. Just sayin, and btw its not wasteful, the fish is dead anyways, how much of the meat you use does not change that fact. Nor is the argument that this will mean more fish being killed as there are bag limits and consumption limits (due to mercury).

  • 19 People dont like fresh fish. Been doing it this way ever since I was taught by my grandafther when I was 10 years old. Im an avid outdoorsman and love fresh fish, and certainly will not be bitching or going hungry if (and when) groceries in stores skyrocket.

  • hey tamaman7777 does bass taste good

  • not very good technique to fillet the fish

  • thats fast but youre losing a lot of meat :(

  • horrible fillet job.... thumbs down... what a waste of meat...

  • That's how it's done alright. Not much waste to speak of. Anyone claiming there is, doesn't know shit about fish. I prefer Bream and Crappie, but Bass is delicious. If you don't eat fish, you shouldn't be fishing.

  • yam

  • This guy sounds just like Bubba from Rick and Bubba!!

  • this almost made me cry ):< dumbass. bass are for catching not eating

  • @hiphop23ist you better read your bible again. Fish weren't made for entertainment, douche bag.

  • So how do the lmb taste compared to other freshwaters?

  • damn that must take practice to be that quick and not spill guts everywhere...ive done only one fish before and i had to take it slowly to get it neat.

  • Good video on filleting technique. I don't believe in filleting. Wasting a lot of meat being thrown away.

  • Great Video Man!

  • redneck

  • @margatelover69 loser sitting in your mums basement making negative comments on peoples uploads. I notice you don't have any. The young man in the video is a School teacher that finished college at the top of his class with honors. But thanks for the redneck comment , we are a proud lot!

  • @tamaman7777 First off, my mum doesn't have a basement and second what did he get an honours in? how to fillet fish the right way? Goon.

  • @tamaman7777 dont worry bout that ass im a redneck i love it and always be proud to

  • @tamaman7777 are we proud to be redneck!!!!!! but one question i have always threw back my LMB but how do they taste??? i just dont think i could eat one. i love fishing them for sport.

  • @LiLJohn71088 They taste pretty much like any other scaled freshwater fish. I would rate them right behind crappie but above pike or walleye.

  • @margatelover69 Just because you are Southern does not make you a redneck, and just a hint most southerners take the term "redneck" as a compliment.

Anyways great video it helped a lot!.

  • did u take the fish egg pls reply

  • Dear Tam: You are one huge, wasteful American. If you or anyone does fillet this way, you shouldn't put it on youtube. Respect your wildlife by not wasting it.

  • @HARRYMILT Thanks Harry for your somewhat respectful comment. I appreciate you not using foul language ans thanks for the lack of exclamation points. I check out my commenter's by viewing there YT page just to see if they are worthy of my response. I was so impressed with your's I subscribed. I release 90% of the LMB I catch. I never take more than 2 dear per season and of those I keep the backkstraps and donate the rest..My son-n-law is doing the filleting in this video. Not I. good day

  • @HARRYMILT that's right... for those who don't know how to fillet, respect the wildlife and release it please... doesnt make any sense to kill it but you barely eat it...

  • @HARRYMILT fuck you...im american and i thought it was a waste also....i also think you are an asshole

  • @HARRYMILT jeezzz... he was just trying to show people how to skin a black bass with a good type of cutting tool to make the job done easier and nobody here cant deny the simple fact that our human civilization eats fish and all sorts of other meats well besides that thank you teaching me how to skin this type of bass correctly I appreciate it! :)

  • @HARRYMILT How is this wasteful? Did he not do it right? Or did he have too many? I am genuinely curious.... not trying to be a jerk or anything. Thanks

  • @HARRYMILT

Not that I really care, but are there even bass where you live(I'm guessing you don't live in America)? The only place that I can remember that has largemouth is some lakes in Japan and Northern Mexico.

  • Not Billy! Why no no no,,, Thomas J can't see without his glasses! What a world what a world!

Good vid,, I release all my black bass, rabbits foot sorta thing...

  • did u take the bass egg

  • I filleted my first fish about a month ago, and i can safely say i can do a quicker, neater and less wasteful job with a normal knife. That huge section you cut off to remove the bones is a huge waist and ruins the shape of the fillet, you can run your knife under those and lift them off with the roe.

  • nice that helped alot

  • It's the people like u who will ruin the population for the future......

  • THEN WERE SOME WAVEY FILLETS YOU NEED AN 8" FORSCHNER FILLET KNIFE 4 CUT MOTION 1 UNDER PECTORAL FIN TO BACKBONE 2 TWIST KNIFE OPPOSITE DIRECTION SLIDE BLADE GLIDE DOWN BACKBONE TO TAIL 3 FLIP SLAB OVER AND DESKIN 4 SLICE OUT RIB CAGE!!!! EZ MONEY!!!!!I CLEAN 100 BASS A DAY WORKING ON THE SPORT BOATS IF I BROUGHT THAT THING ON THE BOAT THEY'D FIRE MY ASS!!! HHAHAHA

  • @UnidudeRS What would he do with them?..

  • @Honeebuket their good boiled with ginger and green oninon o.o

  • Rofl you left the eggs -_-

  • dude im pretty sure thats why they say dont clean it like that because u leave bone and u have to take time to get the bones out c'mon my nigg.............a

  • SOME BADASS CLEAN FILLETS SON! :D

  • Electric knives are for guys who can't slice off a nice filet with a regular one.

  • @FishingKing754 when you only have to clean 1 or 2 fish a fillet knife is fine.

  • @tamaman7777 Ya your a tool with a bucket full of bass. and a fillet knife is fine for 20 if its not a junk knife.

  • Largemouth Bass are some of the best freshwater fish to eat. You can get good filets off of them and the meat is great. You don't hear alot about people eating them any more due to their sportfishing appeal. People that fish tournaments get mad about people keeping them. As long as you obey the creel limits and use commen sense it won't really effect the population.

  • Why are people freaking out over eating bass? I have been doing it my whole life! When we camp, we eat what we catch! Fry the fillets ina cast iron pan with butter and little garlic salt!! Great! And I just tried frying it in Italian dressing! Amazing!!

  • @UnitedPonys if you fry it. other than that it taste like seaweed

  • That is a cool knife were did you get it?

  • good job!!!!!!!!

  • Great Job! It one of the most helpful video about filleting a bass.

  • It seems like you could get more precise cuts without the electric knife, just seems like alot of meat was wasted due to the crude way of cleaning the fish.

  • @nandoGdog A little meat is lost on these smaller fish. We release the larger ones. Sometimes we may have as many as 30 to 40 bass crappie and bluegill to clean. Just makes for a fast and neater job. JMO

  • @tamaman7777 i have ZERO problems cleaning 8 to 14 inch perch caught in lake st clair, w/ my electric... and i do it all the while saving that section of meat you toss. what a damn waste man. do you cut the back straps off your deer and toss the rest on a farmers field too? come on man. first your eating large mouth (sick) and secondly, your wasting 1/3 of the fillet. brother, take the extra 3 seconds and save that meat if your going to eat a bass. you can do it, i have faith in you! lol

  • nice job!!! thanks for the video!!!

  • nice video. I am a freshwater fisherman myself. However I have only eaten white bass, crappie, bluegill, and of course catfish. I never though of LM bass as table fish. Are they good? Is there enough meat on a LM? Why do people generally not consider LM bass good to eat? I'd think they taste the same as crappie.....

  • why wouldn't you eat bass?

  • cool video, i always catch and release though.

  • In the mouth!

  • What lake? GUY!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hot Springs Creek Lake Hamilton. Caught them on a fluke, We caught 30 or so, but kept only 8.

  • Hello...
