  • lets play it once again...

  • favourite melvins song. favourite cover. favourite song ever, in the world.

  • Very cool cover of probably my favourite Kiss song.

Dinosaur jr's version is great too - but the Melvins' choice of tempo adds a nice "heaviness"

  • This is great. Honest to the original, and with their own spin on it too.

  • Pretty darned cool. Could use a tad more cowbells, but pretty darned cool. ;)

  • Best cover ever? Absolutely/

  • Because Buzzco. did this, I can say I like a Kiss song,

  • @genreslur oh shit really? are Kiss somehow good enough for you cause of this shitty cover? stupid idiot

  • @AltarboyMusicTV shitty?

  • Did anyone know that the bassist for this album Lori "Lorax" Black, is the daughter of Shirley Temple.

  • @TannerStreeter7 and who, my dear friend, is shirley temple?

  • @freppoman Really? Well anyways she's a child star from the 20's

  • @franck19671 they were contemporaries of Nirvana. The Melvins were doing while Nirvana was still coalescing. I can see the relation to the Butthole Surfers, but not the Clash.By "second punk movement" are you referring to grunge or new wave?

  • @TheLimivorous Do you listen to NO MEANS NO ?

  • @shmuck31 Mmm mm. I've listened to different stuff, but my musical education needs work. Got any good songs or album recommendations?

  • @TheLimivorous check out No Means No ( Wrong) ( 0+2=1) two very good albums

  • @shmuck31 Cool, thanks. I'll check that out

  • @shmuck31 Great advice! My favorite band, such awesome music

  • @shmuck31 yeah, oh no bruno

  • great ! what a time! the late 80's great decenny

  • great sludge version of this old KISS song. King Buzzo is awesome!

  • This is as good as Pink Floyd.

  • @mcwilliamsrandy

    no, its better.

  • I found this cd under my foot , laying badly scratched and barely playable in a friends escort wagon. Not thinking it'd work she gave it to me. I was maybe 16 or 17 and have loved the Melvins eversense. That was about 15yrs ago. Forever gonna love these guys ...and if you havent go see em live Buzz is a aweseome guy had a chance to bullshit with him.

  • So, so much better than the original. Like when Hendrix covered Watch Tower.

  • @smedley

I couldn't agree with you more. Just like Sleep covering snowblind by Black Sabbath.

  • been a rock fan all my life, I´m in my 40's, and the Melvins are as heavy a band as Iv'e ever heard. When I say heavy, I mean heavy in the traditional sense of Black Sabbath (who are still heavier than most). I don't consider death metal or black metal to be heavier than Sabbath or the Melvins, just shit.

In the classical sense of heavy rock, the Melvins are pretty much in a league of their own, and this track is an excellent example of their stuff.

  • Man, Gene Simmons would be proud!!!!

  • so much better than Korny

  • I really miss just roasting bowls all day and listening to Melvins. best way to spend a day skipping class imho :D :D

  • @kkkhronicmunchies Buzzo hates drugs. No one is giving you any kudos.

  • awww yeah!!!!

  • Sounds like a heavy wedding song.

  • Melvins in Denmark 17/10! So exited :)

  • In my opinion, this is A LOT better than the original. Wanna know why? It's because Melvins is godlike!!!!! <3

  • tomorrow i'll listen The Melvins in Rome....i'mo so excited

  • came on to italy!!!!!!!!

  • \m/

  • improved.

  • I think the melvins "ACED" this cover!

    hahahah what a terrible pun

  • @nmepig Horrible, but I still had to laugh. I'm almost ashamed XD

  • @MrUnit731 I just laughed even harder because I forgot I typed that.

  • @nmepig terrible, but great.

  • omg. i want hard rough sex to this. fuck yer.

  • @metalmisstress85

too bad you're a fat ugly cunt that no one wants to fuck.

  • one of my favorite melvins songs

  • Yeah it sounds so good ... when do you wanna hear some Grunge from germany so listen to Drunken Hippies - Sad things... Peace & Love

  • This is the first music of Melvins I heard.

I love this song and I think i'm going to be a Melvins fan.

  • @TheKami100 good idea

  • @TheKami100 I think that was a valid decision. How is that working out for you?

  • @TheKami100 this is an ace freely cover

  • @TheKami100

So did I a few years back. Get as many albums as you want, lock yourself in a room with padded walls and punch 'till your knuckles are nothing but bone.

  • @nockuout1 KISS also has 33 released records

  • @nockuout1 i said their version of goin blind is bad not the band

  • wow this sucks this is why bands shouldn't cover other bands music cause one its not theirs and two they can never sound as good as the original and it shows that bands have no talent so they copy others songs

  • @TheSuperspudnik They're paying tribute to Kiss by covering this song.

  • @SuperSpanishChicken not always

  • @TheSuperspudnik If bands didn't cover other songs then we wouldn't have New York Groove or God Gave Rock and Roll to You. I really like the kiss version of this, particularly the version on symphony alive. But in my opinion this is still a good version.

  • PORNFUCK

  • you're all fags and queers, this version is shit compared to the original by the greatest band ever KISS <3,

  • @22walchuk KISS can KISS my ASS. The Melvins FTW.

  • @aLana3883 KISS wrote it. You must give them credit. I'm a member of the KISS Army, therefore I am authorized to tell you that KISS is much more successful, with this song, and with their careers than the Melvins. It's not a bad cover. Too hard for my liking, KISS was better. If you wish to insult KISS, fuck off. We all can agree that both bands deserve credit, not just these guys.

  • @KMZiggyStardust fuck off dick. kiss sucks

  • Comment removed

  • @aLana3883 Again, so that everyone knows, without KISS, you would not have this song.

  • @KMZiggyStardust UGH. The KISS Army? Really? Anyways, I get that without KISS we would not have this song. However, there is just something about KISS that pisses me off in a way, though I cannot put my finger on it... However, I do give them props for their unique stage presence and costumes. I like what the Melvins did with this song, though. And no, I did not say that KISS didn't deserve credit for this song or any of their success, so YOU can fuck off for making my 8 word comment a big deal.

  • @aLana3883 "I like what the Melvins did with this song"

    uh, slowed it down?

  • @cormermusic I can't really describe it but the difference in the lead singer's vocals sound more appealing to me in this version. And, "uh, slowed it down?" Even if I did like it because the Melvins slowed it down, aren't I entitled to a different opinion than you?

In case you couldn't think of an answer, I AM entitled to a different opinion than you.

Bitch, go make me a sammich.

  • @aLana3883 man i know what your talking about. Kiss are great and have made heaps of awesome songs and all but they're just a bit too 'shiny'

  • @Benn0912 Dear lord thank you. Someone who understands! Gene Simmons also occurs to me as slightly ignorant, but I'm not one to judge since I've never met him. I completely agree, though. Way too 'shiny'.

  • @aLana3883 I kinda agree but i mean.... if i were gene simmons, i probably would be too

  • @22walchuk

KISS rocks. These flesh carving, depressed freaks wouldn't know a good time if it bit them in the ass.

  • @riverlioness we dont coment on your video's or disrespect your music so take your ignorant generic ideals of rock whore consumerism elsewhere please.

  • @riverlioness Melvins are some of the jolliest guys on the planet man!

  • @riverlioness Depressed freaks? Lol

  • @riverlioness Depressed? Have you ever heard Buzz laugh? His laugh is contagious, man. Plus, Kiss isn't really that good.

  • @spicyMcHAGGIS9green its true...kiss isn't good at all hahah

  • @riverlioness LOL you have no valid opinion when it comes to music. how you even came across this page was a huge mistake, it's obviously too much for your simple mind.

  • @consonants

Simple mind, huh? I was just doing an equity ratio. My IQ is 140, and I am an accounting major. Bite me.

  • @riverlioness Well then! Maybe you should account yourself to some Kenny G.

  • @22walchuk "you're all fags and queers" says the guy who likes men wearing heavy....

    Make-up??

  • hahahah i like how theres always an arguement under every video

  • kinda sounds like ace!

  • OH YEAH!

  • @genreslur Your here.

  • everybody here is a big faggot.

  • @kvon45 Well guess what? You're here, so that includes you.

  • I'm not one who cusses people over the internet but alot of you are dicksmokes.

  • Kurt talked about wanting to write more pop-style music. The irony is he hated being famous. His biggest influence, according to him, was the Pixies. Regarding Melvins, I'm pretty sure they've never set out to make one single pop song. lol They f'n rock.

  • i also like pie.

  • Their so good Kurt Cobain was turned down to be one of their guitar players, to bad Nirvana was more famous (:

  • @angusloveryoung bassist. not guitarist, but ya, melvins are better

  • @bigtreatz Kurt wasn't a bassist, and not at all I never heard of them till I saw a documentery of nirvana. Nirvana blows them away they're good but nirvana are gods of grunge.

  • @angusloveryoung NO cocksucker, i said kurt tried out for bass. and they arent the GODS of fucking grunge buddy, unless you consider every band that's successful to be the GOD of their genre. they feed off other bands, like the melvins.

  • @angusloveryoung yea he played bass too, he tried out to be their bassist. and grunge isnt a genre.

  • @bigtreatz Really lol, I don't think you have a clue what your talking about this is grunge! Kurt was their guitar tech and then tried out to be thier guitar player, But was denied then met Krist the bassist for Nirvana and started their own band witch was more successful then Melvins.

  • @angusloveryoung i never said melvins werent grunge. i said nirvana aren't the gods of grunge

  • @bigtreatz No you said "Grunge isn't a genre"

  • @angusloveryoung oh shit sorry, that was a typo, of course grunge is a genre

  • chuckles, was an ass clown, after he was put in the slammer.long live sludge!

  • @sc4433a Your a fuckin' Jerk Off, why the fuck are you HERE? - LOSER! If you have a problem, lick some Balls or Smell some DipShit's Bung, because your the Fuckin' GOOF, HAHA! ASSWAD!! Lick balls and STOP being so CUNTY!!!!! WORD!!! You Shit Consumer! I love this, this AssHole keeps coming back to the page because IT'S some sort of A Little bitch who thinks they have a Shit Licker's life. WTF? I bet your the Ass-Clown around whose fuckin' all the sheep, BaaaaaaaaaaaaaaHH- Animal Rape Artist!!!

  • @xcasmithx @xcasmithx oh and I'm here because I like the Melvins haha I thought that was obvious but I'm dealing with a thick fucking brick here.

  • little lady cant you see im 93 your 16

  • Comment removed

  • @sc4433a haha maybe he's joking

  • Talking about fucking up songs...

  • @keyblok I like this version.

  • @AwesomeSauceLimited me too, puts some balls behind it.

  • @keyblok Haha, doing justice to a completely crappy song*...

  • Hail to the mighty Melvins! Love this shit.

  • this song is beautiful

  • iugh!

  • @orfeomichael huh?

  • guitar tone on this beats kiss version js

  • good charolotte BLOWS

  • @ottochad the fattist dick

  • @ottochad Good who?

  • Better than the original! Long live the MELVINS!!!1

  • bit too slow, but still good

  • i freakin' love reading through the comments. everyone's yapping about what version's better. yet here i am not giving a fuck and just getting lost in the music. keep arguing guys, i love to be entertained.

  • Fuck, this is good.

  • this song makes me weak in the knees good lord

  • Thanks to the Melvins for covering this tune, but Kiss' song is a classic. One of their best, less popular songs, but an anboslute peach of a tune. By the way it's not different enough from the original for anyone to say it's a better version. Fair play to other people's opinions, but there's a reason why people cover songs. Mainly becasue they like them or feel some sort of empathy with it. Kiss have some very good tunes like Deuce or Watchin' You, or Parasite. This is one of them.

  • @KissU2345 Kiss Alive has held up pretty well over time.

  • @ZyioScalebane calm down and enjoy some kick ass fucking music.

  • This better not get deleted off YouTube because I love this song!

  • @sc4433a NO ONE COULD HAVE SAID THAT BETTER!!!!!!!!!!

  • search for gary moore, still got the blues.

For those who have been involved in the little arguement with me, this is my favourite guitarist. Sadly he's no longer with us. If you ask me, the best guitar player the world has ever seen. Maybe you'll know the song, maybe you wont. Maybe this will help you understand where I'm coming from. I don't expect every guitarist to live up to this, but it gives you a good idea of the feeling I was talking about.

  • What is this crap about Buzz playstyle?

    He is a master!

  • @Kolenschopper His playing style is amateurish. If you don't believe me, ask ANY good guitarist. I urge you. He's not a master...

  • @WilliamMattarmustdie

You might be right about his technical ability, but his compositions are awesome. Realy master!

I dare you making 30 or more cd's with such`amateurish` play.

Btw i know this is a cover...

  • @WilliamMattarmustdie

Your claims are mendacious to the point of nausea. Your critiques are shallow, and you come off as pretentious and puerile. You think guitar should be a pissing contest, like most 12 year olds who listen to nothing but shredding do. I'd be surprised if your taste in music was eclectic.

  • @BELACSAMOHT Actually, I'm into rock music, but mostly, I'm a blues man. I am not at all interested in shredders. My critique was based on a knowledge of the guitar. This guy is amateurish. It's not the speed I was talking about, rather the robotic feeling. Play with some feeling. This guy doesn't even know how to bend strings. I know it's hard to believe some random person on the internet... That's why I said ask any guitar player you know.

  • @WilliamMattarmustdie

There's hardly any bends in the original.

  • @BELACSAMOHT Actually, there are.

  • @WilliamMattarmustdie

There are, but not many. I'd say 7 to 10 maximum.

  • @BELACSAMOHT There are also prebended notes which are released. I'm a huge fan of Frehley though. Very underrated guitarist.

  • @WilliamMattarmustdie

    Those aren't relevant.

  • @BELACSAMOHT I was using that as an example of a good guitarist playing with feeling. And considering the fact that the solo on the melvin's cover is just a sloppier version then it is relevant... Anyway, I'm done here and will post no more replies to this very subject.

Most of the responses I've had have been stupid, some have been good. But I'm not gonna argue this same point over and over.

  • @BELACSAMOHT

Also, why aren't you addressing the things I've said?

  • @BELACSAMOHT Lastly, I have been addressing you. Let's just agree to disagree. I'm not going to argue the same point over. It's the best for both of us.

  • @WilliamMattarmustdie

Well, you explain things poorly. So, you really didn't make compelling arguments. Try to be less vague next time.

  • FCUKIN AYE

  • Melvins took the best KISS song and made it even better <3

  • Buzz is fucking epic! So is KISS though..lol

  • @scribbles. Just because someone isn't famous, doesn't mean they aren't talented. I know so many people who could wipe the floor with this band. In an out and out guitar duel, I'd have this guy beat immediately.

His guitar solo is amateurish. Pick up a guitar yourself and eventually you will see for yourself.

  • I have to agree with spyoung on this one. Too slow, the guitars are too distorted (though I can live with that) the vocals are just bad and this guy can't play guitar to save his life. Has he ever heard of bending the strings, as opposed to using hammerons? He just came across as very amatuerish, and I could do a far better job myself.

  • @WilliamMattarmustdie Too bad you are nothing and well... they are the melvins.

  • @refusedchad I'm talking about his technique. It's awful. Ask any decent guitar player you know. Or better yet, pick up a guitar yourself. It won't take you long to surpass his playing ability.

  • @WilliamMattarmustdie you know he can dumb down his playing to get the sound he wants right??

  • @spudsisnumber1 I am a guitarist myself, but this is not about dumbing down his playing. His lead playing is terrible, sloppy and amateur. His rhythm playing is decent though.

  • @WilliamMattarmustdie

It's not about whether you're good, really. To paraphrase the immortal Shawn Lane "It doesn't matter your what your abilities are, anyone can write a good song at their skill level." Get off your pedestal, you pretentious philistine.

  • @BELACSAMOHT How about you open your eyes (or in this case ears) instead? I've given a detailed analysis as to why his playing is bad.... And you guys have had a heart attack acting like i insulted your grandmother. I listened to this because I'm a fan of the original, but the guitar solo is terrible... I mentioned it and everyone's just having a go at me instead of reading my analysis or providing their own. For the record, I could've played a better solo after 3 months of guitar playing.

  • @BELACSAMOHT I actually don't mind this cover version, but it's not a patch on the original IMO. And as a guitar player, the solo just stuck out like a sore thumb. His technique is amateurish. Using hammerons rather than bending the strings gives it away. I urge you to ask any good guitar player you know. Walk into a guitar store and ask someone if you don't believe me. This guy should just stick to rhythm.

  • @WilliamMattarmustdie

"I've given a detailed analysis as to why his playing is bad" "but this is not about dumbing down his playing. His lead playing is terrible, sloppy and amateur. His rhythm playing is decent though." Yes, indeed a detailed analysis. Anyway, you don't understand music and probably never will. It's not all about technical proficiency. Go jerk off to Yngwie or something(like he's a technically sound musician)

  • @WilliamMattarmustdie

Do you even know who Shawn Lane is? I bet you don't.

  • @BELACSAMOHT I didn't recognise the name, but a quick google search brought up black oak arkansas, who I'm familiar with. I'm not debating his rhythm playing, his songwriting abilities or his stature in the music world. I know he's a legend, but he's one person who should leave the lead guitar to someone who can play with feeling...

I'm giving you reasons, but you're all in denial... Therefore I'll say it AGAIN... Ask ANY decent guitar player you know what they think of his solos.

  • @WilliamMattarmustdie

"I'm giving you reasons, but you're all in denial" Very, very vague reasons. "but he's one person who should leave the lead guitar to someone who can play with feeling." He hardly plays lead, and it would be foolish to procure a session guitarist to play one measly solo, especially if it's a simple solo. You've provided very vague and petty reasons, and that will never suffice in changing someone's convictions.

  • @WilliamMattarmustdie

How can you call yourself a guitarist with a straight face, and not know who Shane Lane is?

  • @BELACSAMOHT So i'm supposed to know who every guitarist is??? You're just clutching at straws now. I was more than aware of black oak arkansas... Never heard of shane lane though... Shawn Lane, I've heard of...

  • @WilliamMattarmustdie

No, but you should be aware of a guitarist as excellent as he was.

  • @BELACSAMOHT I was aware of him. I just didn't know his name. I was more than aware of the band... Who say's I've got to know every good guitarist to have credibility. If it wasn't for the fact that I am currently travelling in Canada and my Les Paul's are back in Scotland, I would have uploaded a video showing how it is done. I'll do so when I'm done my travels, but I urge you to ask someone you know. I'm making a valid point, but you won't believe me because you assume I'm some 12y/o vai fan.

  • @WilliamMattarmustdie

Oh, and did you ever think it was intention to play in such a way?

  • @BELACSAMOHT No because it sounds like a 10 year old playing guitar. You can try and explain it any way you want.... Ask ANY guitarist that you know and they'll tell you it's clumsy.

  • @WilliamMattarmustdie

This is really a matter of subjectivity and no sound and objective conclusion can be made, obviously it was all along. I really don't think it sounds bad, it befits the sluggish phrasing.

  • @WilliamMattarmustdie no. what are the names of your 30 albums? oh you have none? hm.

  • @refusedchad I step back into the ring to say one more thing. I was criticising his lead playing. Not his skills as a songwriter (even though this is a cover) or as a musician or singer in general. I was not trying to belittle him. The only point I was criticising was his solo, which btw, was sloppy imo.
