BMTH is a core, people see Killswitch as a core. Well, I hate BMTH and love Killswitch (from time to time). The difference with death/metal/whatever-core is and Wolf, or any other metal for that matter, is that it doesnt need angsty, screaming teenagers in it to have succes. BMTH, I like to have this band as an example, yes, has ugly vocals, just plain ugly, no talent at all.

@Racoulda They might rock instrumentally, but it's the whole picture that counts. And skill doesn't equal success, power chords might be simple, but you can't deny that they (Wolf) are good.

I think it's stupid as well when metal-elitists criticise new metal, but core isn't impervious to critique because it's new. It isn't new any more either ;p

I like almost all kinds of metal, because it's part of the last true music forms left.

@LordKalakukko I love growls, and most do take skill, yes, the problem here is that the 'growls' BMTH utilizes don't require skill, if you listen to some of their songs where you here his 'voice' very clearly, you can hear he sings off-tone, he mindlessly screams, there's no beauty to be found in any of their songs. Heaven Shall Burn scream as well, but they actually sound good. BMTH doesnt ;p

@loukas1995 They're good, but their intention is definitely bringing the 80's type metal back. Go to their official website and read the band biography, there's references to Maiden and Priest in there that shows these are their main source of inspiration and the same style of music they play. I agree their style is distinctive enough, but you can't deny their influences and there's also no need to because they embrace them themselves (otherwise they wouldn't put that in their band biography).

I wouldn't say they sound totally alike either but the style is recognizable enough to show they are successful in their wanting to bring back the vibe of those times.
