You know I tried to do something like this but alongside having a lot going on at the time not enough people were prepared to genuinely invest their time and effort. This is always the problem with such things, that people want to be involved but not do any work. I'm happy to share my ideas with you in pm if you're interested. Let me know.

I'm assuming the TOS would be something like; don't post / upload copyrighted content, content that is illegal to distribute e.g. child pornography, and personal content / information e.g. address, phone number etc

Also would have to say something about personal "attacks". Where the line is drawn. What is acceptable and what is not. What can people say about others.

Also would like to hear (maybe in next video?) what you think about authority / control. I assume some people are going to have to work not just to answer queries but also to make decisions like whether an account should be terminated / reinstated, legal stuff, and even where the organisation is going - new features, changes to TOS etc. Who'd be in control and make those decisions. Would there be a hierarchy to that?

Some suggestions:

I wouldn't make it too orientated to a particular group or ideology, more neutral I would say. Still want people who disagree with you to join so we can argue against them, and so they can pay towards the costs ;)

Need a system so people can only create one account and are accountable to that account (like what you said about paypal). Don't think you can really rely on IP addresses. Needs to be some real information where you can gather name, address, age etc.

Posted a comment on the stickam video about buying your own hardware and storing / running everything yourself. Just throwing it out there, don't know whether it would be more efficient / cheaper or not.

Have an option to make your videos viewable to over 18's only or make an over 18 area only.

Also maybe ask advice from people who have done this before or have some experience with any aspects of it.

the best rating system i've seen is just a one choice system. you can only endorse a video, no downrating, no abuse. then all you have to worry about is the % of endorsements in your view count.

I've worked on a few web applications professionally and on my time so I might be able to help build this or provide some input. There really needs to be a convincing plan for organizing, building and financing this thing before people will take this idea seriously and actually commit to it.
