  • My mom got this last month after her 2000 Pontiac Grand AM (123,000 miles) front undercarriage all of the sudden fell apart (probably due to the railroad tracks (she dont slow down on them) and it is awesome. XM for 3 months free and onstar for 6. though it irks me sometimes about the plastic like interior.(yes she slows down at railroad tracks now since its new.)

  • Looks and Feels nice, just hate Chevrolet don't provide reliable customer support and it seems like as most other offshore Companies they will not recall their vehicles when there are obious enginineering Problems in the designs and quality of the parts they use for assembly, My 2008 LTZ has a water leak behind the passenger seat, I've seen other people having the same issue and Chevrolet does not seem to provide support. If anyone has informationa about the ause for it please advise

  • the engine on the 2008-present Chevrolet Malibu

    Engine

    2.4 L LE5 169 hp (126 kW) I4

    3.5 L LZ4 217 hp (162 kW) V6

    3.6 L LY7 252 hp (188 kW) V6

    Hybrid:LAT 2.4L 164 hp (122 kW) I4

  • Just bought one of these 2 weeks ago....only paid 11. Love it!!!!

  • Chevy Malibu hybrid =fail . 3.6 engine isn't a good engine several have been replaced because of the timing chain ends up stretching and snapping off. Don't get me wrong they handle well I have driven one but its still feels out dated as for styling ...BTW you don't feel like your driving a 45+ premium sedan that just made me laugh hearing that.. thanks..

  • @soyntgo4it i bet those people went nice to there malibus also

  • I am so geting this car I seend one for $15,000 oh yeah!

  • @TheMike31b if u saw one for 15 why dont u just get a Jeep Patriot thats 15 also

  • golf bags?! really, are u serious? who cares about golf bags? not everyone plays golf?!

  • @besplatno69 they use golf bags because a lot of people understand how big they are and can form the image in their head. Regardless if you play golf or not

  • i love driving theese though they have alot of problems becaause when i drove (no i did not own it) the head lights turn on randomly... and also sometimes the lights on the spedometer light would shut off while driving at night.

  • Hey, it's Ken from street fighter.

  • @strife2xlr8 lmao! ken it does look like him

  • .01

  • Just buy a jetta or a passat

  • The only time I find horsepower useful is when I need to merge onto the highway.

  • I'm actually driving a 2011 now and I don't like it at all. It's not the LTZ or anything up scale. The transmission down shifts way to early and jerks at low speed. The braking is decent as the steering. But i did notice there is a lot of body lean in the corners. Mine has about 7,070 miles on it and it already feels like it has 50,000 mile. The design is amazing but overall, I'm not safisfied. :/

  • @harwell288

    3.6 or 2.4?

  • Looks like a great car. And great value.

  • the front that car is so ugly, im hoping they'll change it in a year or two

  • Is this a chevrolet commercial???

  • i dont care what people say about american cars. but if they're reasonably priced, ill buy it, and it'll make me feel good about myself knowing that i've done what i can do to stimulate our economy. and it takes more than just me to achieve it, all patriots must be involved in pulling the country outta this shit hole that we're in. btw i have a 09 malibu 1LT

  • i still want one

  • I hate to say it but mainstream american cars do not deserve to be compared to Japs or Germans!

  • Has anyone noticed that Toyota commercials have only been talking about their previous reliability showing previous Camry models. Cause theyre going to shit

  • @blackimpreza07 You wonder why after they are built so much in the US. The Toyota Camry is the Most US built vehicle out there. GM, Ships all the jobs to Mexico, which is cheap labor and with that is cheap quality.

  • @Zinizzle

Please realize that cheap labor doesn't mean cheap quality. GM is notorious for penny pinching--using the cheapest materials and the poorest engineering designs available to build their cars. Just remember: Garbage in...garbage out.

  • @happy543210 Right, most GM employees are way overpaid and their is always someone who will take less pay and do the job just as good if not better.

  • Oh wow the fucken malilbu looks like a g35 from behind

  • The 2010 Fusion is just so much better than this car..

  • @yanava

    Why?

    Give your reasons.

  • no way! lol

  • The LTZ is the way to go, I just got one and I love the style of the care, automatic engine start and seat warmers. I live in Wisconin, we get some cold winters.

  • i drove this car so much when my parents rented it , and its amazingg ! i love this car so much . but when it rained . on the front door up top where the window closes on the fabric , it was leaking , so if you live in a rainy place , watch out for that !

  • @mrowens131 lmfao, and why would you love another low quality, piece of junk from General motors?

  • This car has just arrived in Brazil and I WANT IT!!!

  • I find the styling to be typically bland USA. it's like bland japanese but bloated.

for styling a sedan noone comes close to Audi.

  • It's pretty sad that they make all this crap to get as much of a 'quiet ride' as possible. It just proves that too many people are too ignorant and too lazy to learn to pay attention to the sounds that their vehicle makes so that they can figure out when something needs to be replaced BEFORE a major failure.

  • awesome car! way better looking than anything else on the road!

  • I work for gm as a mechanic and all I can say is these cars are mad to look nice on the inside and outside but it's very low in quality where it counts. Everyday we get all these new cars that should not have any problems but we have to fix them, all these cars will cost a pretty penny but just like the rest they will only be worth 6-10 grand in a couple years, buy a honda or toyota, something that will last.

  • This car blows, my wife used to have the exact one, we had to trade it in because after 5k miles we already had to replace a lot of parts, but you should not have to replace the alternator on a brand new car one of our tail laight was filled with water the first, It's also funny that Im a mechanic at a GM facility, but I only work there for the pay not because I them, They make their cars look nice on the inside and out but it's in the quality where they suck, plastic parts.

  • @olverafam Sounds like Kia. That or a lemon. The alternator should have been covered under the powertrain warranty.

  • if you notice the chevy emblem on the stering wheel has a dent in the middle, i have a 2010 malibu and it has it too n one of my cousins has a 2009 and has a dent also. if you have a malibe check out the emblem it really does not look cute

  • americana? they make them in mexico!

  • the 2010 vw gti with dsg transmission gets the same mileage as the hybrid version of the malibu and has a 2 liter inline turbo 4 cylinder making 200 hp, the v6 in the malibu makes 252 hp...wtf? doesnt make sense to me

  • @Jkillah29 I think it has something to do with the engine in the Malibu being side mounted, and it's also naturally aspired. Forced induction is much more effective when gaining more horsepower then simply making a bigger engine.

  • Do any Chevrolet's have built in GPS navagation system?

  • @littleelvis1996 yes on all of them especially if they have OnStar (all of them have it now)

just press the blue button and ask for directions. on the malibu they will download it to your stereo and it will show you an arrow where you need to merge or turn. and it also says it out loud.

  • this sounds way better than my moms avalon when u really get down on the pedal

  • i just bought one this friday 2 days ago........it'ssss awsomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • I just bought one of these, love it. FIRST CAR=)

  • poor man's CTS

  • wapse axujena masina :DD

  • That definitely does NOT look like a 45,000 dollar car. It's not even as good looking as a honda accord and the interior looks like crap. Compare that to a honda accord.

This is not a review, this is a rank from somebody on GM's payroll. He doens't even go into any features of the car apart from mileage.

  • Have you got cataracts or something? The Accord looks like the runs on the outside, and the Malibus is easily as attractive inside.

  • LOL who drives Hondas !!. .LOL LOL Buddy .. word of advice . .. FUCK THE JAP SHIT !!

  • All of my family drive Hondas. your a STUPID IDIOT RETARD

  • @fordsucksGOHONDA hahaha that's why you eat a lot of rice !!! sucks

  • @Waffleater1 you're funny, if we talk just mechanicaly , on the top 10 best engines in the world just tell me why the honda engine is on the top 7 the GM's 3,6l V6 is on the top 6 ?

  • New Face, Same Crap!

    GM = Generally Mediocre!!

  • Emotions run high when it comes to brand loyalty. I appreciate your position--because I'm no apologist for GM. I have never been a fan. But this is an Opel, a big improvement over GM's past offerings.

  • lol this isn't an Opel... It's on the same platform as the last gen Malibu. You're thinking of the Regal/Insignia maybe?

  • @gfedtyhfs your an idiot

  • did u have to go to PRICK SCHOOL TO LEARN THAT, LET ALONE SPELL IT....must make u feel like a grade F student....

  • must of been the same school you went to, to learn how to talk like a vulgar pig!

  • lol dude ok ok im sorry for that i was just saying....

  • @gfedtyhfs because of jerks like you who buy foreign products GM dont have enough money and intrest from the public to put better quality into their cars and the factory workers high salaries dont help either

  • @randomusa100 my last two jap cars were made in Ohio and Tenn the last time I checked so they paid the American workers earning a living; half of GM products aren't even assembled in this country. Canada and Mexico don't count. Next time, don't sound like such an idiot!

  • Can I rev it to 7100RPM? No of course not, rather go with the Accord and the titanium connecting rods.

  • no sirven yo tengo uno v6 2008 y solamente duro 41 mil kilometros y a un no tiene los 2 años si gustan les mando fotos

  • quiero un malibu =,(

  • yo también

  • un ltz verdad¡?

  • sí

  • This car isn't going to keep its value that well. I don't car what they say. Most chevy econo cars turn to crap after 3-4 years. This car just came out in 08. Pretty interiors and acoustic windshields do not tell me anything about the powertrane.

  • haha yeah but it will still be under warranty in 3-4 years

  • the waranty is a sham. It doesn't cover everything. You buy say a brand new accord. It only comes with a 60k miles warranty but that's all you really need. They know the car they built will last far longer than that. They easily surpass 100k miles. mine has 141k miles

  • @EpiDemic117 : Bumper to bumper warranties on the Malibu and the Accord are the same: both are 3 yrs/36,000 miles. But, the Malibu and every other GM car will give you 5 yrs/100,000 miles on the powertrain warranty, which doesn't just cover the tranny but other things like the cooling system as well. Yeah, the many imports can run over 100K miles with no major problems, but then again, people with money usually get rid of their cars before they get into 6 digits on the odometer.

  • Thanks for the intel. But the warranty on most other cars are about 60k miles. It pisses me off even more how they don't cover transmissions. Usually those are the things that will always fuck up.

  • i hate when the dash is separate from the center console, like in the honda accord. it looks much nicer when they are connected... good job on the interior chevy =]

  • Yea this car has a double-wishbone suspension, infinite range camshaft phasing, air intake length control by ECU, drive-by-wire throttle technology and actually that is the Accord. Don't kid yourselves, you haven't caught up to the master of engines just yet.

  • so i liked the video and wanted to know more so i read up that it is a good car in the winter...well that was wrong but i lossed control of the car in the winter three times...so it is a good car but not the best

  • i rented this car it was as he said and i agree with him about the price because it is the first criteria to buy any car

  • the current gen honda accord is better

  • Comment removed

  • wow bad review he had nothing bad to say about the car -- no car is perfect

  • @fan4now

Maybe he was trying to promote it

  • this car is handsome. better looking than accord or camry

  • I have a Saturn SW2 1993 wagon that still gets better mileage than this Malibu. What's up with that? This Malibu is new and won't save me any money. What kind of crap are we being fed?

  • You are also comparing a 15000 econobox to a 30000 midsize car. go drive one and you'll see the difference. if you don't you're an idiot. You get what you pay for.

  • its bigger and more powerful than that peice of junk you call a car.

  • Comment removed

  • The new malibus are beautifull. So are the impalas.

    Chevy is king. :)

  • i rented one the other day, i love the look chevy really stepped it up, but i wouldnt buy it, i will be buying 2007 325 bmw coupe

  • many cars are different MPGs depend on hill, mountain, curve street, too much goes and stops, count people and loads weights inside the car, 4 or V6 motor

  • any down sides 2 buying this car? No, ok title should be oblivious 2 malibu flaws, this is not a review!!!

  • Love the car, but I'm sorry 26 mpg is not competitive when the Accord gets 29, the Camry gets 29, and the Fusion gets 27. What competition is he referring to??

  • he is talking about the v6 ..the 4cyl gets24/34

  • No he's not, listen again. And the 4 cyllinder gets 22/30. Your numbers are from the poorly rated Malibu Hybrid.

  • Ha garbage? My 07 4 banger murdered every river that revved up at the red lights.... I miss that car now :(

  • this car is grabage

  • how is it garbage?

  • To all of you who are like "You'd better buy American or you're a traitor." It's people like you that sunk the American auto industry in the first place. If the Big 3 have this massively loyal fanbase that are going to buy anything they put out, why in the world should they try to compete?

Don't get hung up on blind loyalty, buy quality and get your money's worth. Toyota, etc. forced the Big 3 to make better cars, and we consumers are better off for it.

    Capitalism = competition, folks.

  • Spot on.

  • @TheGreatUrameshi13 Fuck Capitalism

  • @HeartagramBAMF If we didn't have capitalism then we would have nothing but junk. Over priced junk.

  • @Zinizzle: If we didn't have capitalism then we would have nothing but junk. Over priced junk.

JM: It's because of traitors like you that the rich get richer....by using communist Chinese slave labor.....while the rest of America gets poorer. Capitalism my ass. republican businessmen fund explosive growth in communist China with jobs outsourced from America. republicans get rich off the backs of communist Chinese slaves. The fabulous '50s had the highest % of unionized jobs.

  • @JetMechMA Okay let's just lay the facts down, it's evident that the Japanese manufacturers have always produced a more reliable vehicle than that of the US (UAW). And I am not being biased because I drive a new Chevy, but come on my Toyota 4Runner has almost 400k on it, it's a shame that we can pay 30 bucks an hour for a union job and have to use cheap materials to compensate for the costs of the vehicle. And if the Union workers don't get that 30 bucks what do they do, STRIKE.

  • @Zinizzle The workers didn't design the car. See how mindlessly biased you are?.....AND wrong! You are a mindless republican cult member. Reality doesn't matter to you. America doesn't matter to you...only your mindless brainwashed loyalty to your republican cult matters to you....and it's KILLING America. DO YOU HEAR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheGreatUrameshi13 TRUE, BUT NOW ITS TIME TO PUT TOYOTA BACK IN THEIR PLACE...THEY HAVE GOTTEN MORE THAN LAZY OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS..AND HOW DO YOU EXPECT THE HOME TEEM TO DO BETTER IF YOU DONT SUPPORT THEM? JUST A THOUGHT

  • @DAONLYKB

You're full of shit! How has Toyota gotten LAZY? Because of the sticky gas pedal recall? Remember that was an American built part (CTS) which replaced a more expensive Japanese part (NIPPONDENSO).

  • @happy543210 FULL OF SHIT HOW? AND I WASNT EVEN TALKING ABOUT THE GASS PEDAL THING BUT OK YEA THAT A PROBLEM..IM TALKING ABOUT THEIR QUALITY!! MY FRIEND HAS A BRAND NEW CAMRY AND SHIT WAS JUST FALLING APART INSIDE THE CAR..THATS A NO GO..AND FYI I WORKED FOR TOYOTA FOR THREE YEARS..IVE NEVER SEEN SO MANY TRANS PROBLEMS ON THE CAMRYS IN MY LIFE..PLUSE THE SIEANNA'S GAS TANKS WHERE JUST FALLING OFF LEFT AND RIGHT..JUST FALLING OFF THE EFFIN VANS OUT OF NOWHERE..MIND YOU THESE ARE BRAND NEW.....

  • @DAONLYKB

How can you expect me to believe that gas tanks are falling off brand new Siennas. You might as well tell me that unicorns and mermaids are real.

  • @happy543210 WELL IM NOT GOING TO ARGUE WITH YOU ABOUT IT. AS I STATED, I WORKED FOR TOYOTA FOR A LITTLE OVER THREE YEARS SO I SAW FIRST HAND ALL THE RE-CALLS THAT CAME IN OUR SHOP! AT THE END OF THE DAY, WHAT YOU THINK REALY HOLDS NO WEIGHT, AS YOUR NOT IMPORTANT..THANKS HAVE A GOOD DAY SIR!

  • @DAONLYKB

Well, here's something that holds some weight. I'm a proud owner of a 2003 MR2 and a 2004 Tacoma, and the only thing I've replaced in them is the battery. My dad owned a Chevy Silverado, and after 6 years, had to replace the water pump, oil pump, oil pressure sending unit, and 2 starters...oh, and both doors were falling off their hinges.

  • Comment removed

  • @happy543210 THATS NICE, BUT LIKE I WAS SAYING AMERICAN PRODUCTS WILL NEVER GET BETTER UNTILL WE SUPPORT THEM..SUPPORT DOSNTJUST MEAN BUYING THEM, IT ALSO MEANS DEMANDING THEY MAKE PRODUCTS WORTH THE MONEY! WE MAKE DAMN SURE OTHER COUNTRIES PRODUCTS ARE A + BEFOR THEY COME OVER HERE, WHY NOT HOLD OURS TO THE SAME STANDARD!! AND FOR THE RECORD I THINK BOTH CHEVY AND FORD ARE ATLEAST TRYING..AND DOING A PRETTY GOOD JOB NOWADAYS! THANKS, THAT WILL BE ALL

  • @TheGreatUrameshi13 What about the fierce competition between the Big 3 in both America and the rest of the world? They have been main rivals for ever! For example the trucks and muscle cars Dodge, Ford and Chevy makes, always try to outdo each other each year! So if you don't like this Chevy, why not look at a Dodge or a Ford instead of going to a Turdota?

  • I'm in the market for a new car since my Grand Prix was wrecked and I'm taking a hard look at the Malibu. Oh, and for all of you saying that Chevy bought this guy off, quite a large segment of the automotive press is singing the Bu's praises.

  • paid by chevrolet

  • The Japs have been paying off the auto journalists for years.

  • Hahahaha

  • @YYZ5000 Have you been reading Jesse Ventura's work?

  • @YYZ5000 hell yeah they have

  • He Looks Like Ken Masters

    From Street Fighter

  • Simple as if your American you buy American.

  • hahahaha , u make me laugh , cause these cars are only assembled here , but majority of its parts are made some where else in the world , like china or Mexico

  • The Japanese said they would get us back for the A bombs, not by force, but by other means. Guess what...they did...so for all of us hard working Americans and Canadians, thank you for helping them. You my friend are a traitor, end of story.

  • I don't necessarily know how one could be a traitor towards this country for buying foreign made cars. For example, the Toyota Camry that is sold in America is made in America. The parts are made and assembled right here. Even then, the Asian imported cars are very high end and they hold up well. We should be kicking ourselves right now for not being able to make a good enough car to compete with foreign cars. I'm interested in the Malibu, but we already own a Camry and Accord as is.

  • You are wrong about parts being made here. Toyota only uses a maximum of 35% domestic content (Big Three use upwards of 80% domestic content). Auto manufacturers spent 148 Billion on parts in 2008. Do the math. Income from foreign cars goes right back to Japan. Big three employment dwarfs foreign employment. No excuse. I drive by a Toyota dealer everyday and guess what...the repair bays are always full.

  • Where else do you expect the income for Asia to be made? Those little stickers that say made in China? That's life my friend. Other countries are going to make a profit off of us. It's time to quit thinking ignorantly and close minded and start recognizing that we're a world as a whole. Only by name are we a country. People around the world are very similar to us and that's simply because we are humans, separated by borders.

  • can this easly b tricked out ?

  • i was skeptical about this car but after i test drove it i was sold maybe next time toyota but i hate to say it but their quality has gone down

  • Chevy is a proud human brand. I, as a proud human, will however continue to support Chevy to the best of my ability even though GM has been overtaken and nationalized by the US and Canadian GOVERNMENTS for the FIRST time in its history.

  • Comment removed

  • I dont know if i should get this or one of the new camrys

  • Well, this car interior looks not bad indeed.

However... GM is dead so if you buy this car you might deal with some "problems' related to warranty.

Buying a Toyota is reliable investestment than a Malibu.

    Your choice.

  • There is no new Camry till 2010.

  • Well i as far as ive seen the new 2010 camrys are already on the lot because i went to look at them about two days ago.

  • Those are a facelift, still the 2007 generation. By 2010, the next generation 2011 Camry would be released. I expect the next generation Camry to come with 17 inch wheels standard, with 18 inch wheels for the sport version, and radical enhancements, especially for the hybrid.

  • ok i get what your saying and i already saw the 2011 camry its nice just goggle it

  • The 2011 Camry should be released next year? It's already out?

  • no its not out but i saw it on goggle

  • Wait for next year's autoshow. The next Camry is expected to be kickass!

  • TOYOTA IS A PIECE OF SHIT YOU TRAITOR.

  • Toyota is a piece of shit?

  • How is Toyota a piece of shit?

  • Ugly cars, foreign made, TRAITOR Americans buying them.

  • Countries mean very little nowadays. And not to mention the fact that Ford, GM, Chrysler do not belong to any country. They belong simply to shareholders.

  • Buy Detroit Iron all the way.

  • Malibu..i think its kinda hot, Camry is Zzz like all toyotas. I own one, theyre good cars but they are so boring i wonder if they specifically enineer the engines and handling so as to not be fun to drive.

  • i have nothing against the malibu what so ever i might consider getting one ive test driven the camry altima and malibu and dont know what i want but i think that i might end up getting the altima.

  • I have not driven a car, so I'm not sure what you mean by "fun". Guess one day I might find out when I drive. Cars are not meant to be "fun", unless you drive super fast on an empty highway. Cars are for transportation, that's what they are made to do. I guess people consume so much today they do not appreciate any good product anymore.

  • You sound like a typical Toyota-buyer :)

When i say "fun" i also mean "satisfactory", as in able to overtake fast and safely, precise steering, and good chassi. All these can be labeled as active safety features, and they definately make for a good product.

  • I do not drive a car and your bias is already showing

  • whatever

  • I agree the Malibu is the best sedan out there at the moment.

  • V6 3.8 VVT 10 secounds acceration 0-63 mph. 69 SECOUNDS Top Speed 130 MPH

33 lites p 63 miles in city and 23 lites p 63 miles on highway BY 630 miles

2.4 VVT 14 secounds accreation 0-63 mph 65 secounds TOP SPEED acceration 105 mph

    28 lites p 63 miles and 20.1 lites p 63 miles BY 630 miles.

  • Nope that time is only begining to start, look at the dodge charger/ challenger. Chevrolet camaro, enz

  • Excellent German Opel design! Once I save enough bucks, I'll be getting a Government Motors Chevy Malibu!

  • Oh please GM, build some big American cars like they use do....

  • That time is gone. America's demographics will never be the same as before.

  • Saturn Aura IS the Opel Insignia. This is a German designed car. And Camry and Accord are and Fusion are all American designed.

  • The new Malibu / Aura is based off the Opel Insignia. It's a German designed.

  • Dud, guess who designs and makes Camries? Americans!

  • No no no. The camry is designed in Japan. It is assembled in the US. Don't get your facts messed up.

  • The Camry is designed in California and Michigan by Calty. Do some research.

  • Profits go right back to Tokyo.

Don't try to justify being a traitor.

  • Traitor? Japan? The US? What does it matter? We are all of the human race. Not only that, every human is inherently greedy, selfish, and wicked. Nobody cares for his / her country, only for himself / herself. Who the fuck cares where profits go? Do YOU know where profits go? They go to the companies' employees and shareholders.

  • you're suppose to suppose to support your country. OH MAN. I can already tell you're a LIBERAL IDIOT!!

  • TRUE.

And profits go right back to those fish heads in Tokyo.

  • Are you African American?

  • No I am a white racist, but I do like Blacks since their American and not scum like the Japs that come here and drive their ugly ass cars.

  • Are you German American?

  • You liar! Racists are the most selfish of people, and they only care about themselves, never about their country. I know so because I am a racist too.

  • Haha, are you a Black racist against others but proud to be American or what?

I'm white and very against the illegal Hispanics but don't really have a tremendous issue with Blacks anymore.
