No offense to Jimi Jamison, but I prefer their original singer Dave Bickler on vocals for this song. Too bad He had vocal issues and had to leave the band. Jimi does a good job though. I think alot of credit should be given to the rest of the band, especially Frankie Sullivan. His guitar playing, and song writing are way underrated. I understand the need for top 40 hits, but these guys could have rivaled many of the hard rock bands of the day, or today for that matter.

Survivor>journey, foreigner, loverboy. It's sad to think they are only famouse for Eye of Tiger. They are the soundtrack to teenage love and it dosent matter what era you're living in. When I was 16 survivor was my world! They are the kind of band you can't replace.

To me there were two Survivors: Dave's and Jimi's and I must admit I enjoyed Jimi as he is a great & talented lead singer.

But Dave was the original sound. And his nasal voice, oh man, that was the sound I expected from this band !

You gotta be kidding me. I think if anyone is out of his range and is a prick, then Dave should be in that argument along with Jimi. Listen to "The Search Is Over (live version)" and how much Dave screwed that one up. That to me, is out of tune and range. Jimi rules! Dave, as much as I admire his vocal abilities and range, tends to be more annoying than Jimi and sings a lot through his nose. Jimi enunciates better and knows his range. Love Dave, great singer, awesome dude, but Jimi wins.

No doubt Sullivan does a stellar job in this live performance. His duties are difficult in doing the backing vocals and guitar work without the advantage of studio dubbing. But Jamison's awesome voice is spectacular as well.

I think Jimi does an awesome job on this version and sounds almost exactly like Dave. The only difference is that he doesn't hit the really high notes until the end of the song, but in a concert when you're constantly hitting high notes on every song, it's understandable.

While I agree that it is good; the guitar is not loud or nasty enough. The studio version guitar sound is unbeatable. The keyboards are too prominent in this version.  They are there for accent, not carry the song. That is the job of the guitar riff.
