For those who don't (ever apparently) watch hockey, the fail is the fact that they are doing a goaltender performance of the game when they should have been showing the action, and why you only see the replay of the goal....
Well it's the same here on the Rds network in Mtl...they suck big time and the reviews or on-screen charts are always during the action!! Fucking frustating.
@m420carbine4 VS isn't horrible, I just remember watching games especially playoff games on ESPN. I thought those announcers were better. It seems like VS and NBC tends to dumb down the broadcast to appeal to casual fans.
NHL on ESPN was GREAT. Gary Thorne, awesome commentator. The presentation was wonderful, the theme music and alternate themes before commercials were perfect and always put me in the mood for hockey, and ESPN would never cut out a minute of gametime for someone speaking like this.

They never show the Sharks and Devils and they are fantastic teams, while they show the Rangers, who didn't even make the playoffs, the Bruins, who are chokers, and the Flyers, who were shit, only made the playoffs because of a shootout and only made it to the finals because of Leighton and Pronger.

NHL on NBC sucks ass. The same goes for Versus. They don't even have their "own" broadcast teams. They get guys moonlighting from other teams. Seeing games every freaking week in Boston, Detroit, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Washington, and New York gets tired after a while. Why not show the good teams. The Sharks have had good teams for years, Vancouver, Calgary. There are plenty of good teams outside of NBC's little region that you can't see unless you have NHL Network or NHL Center Ice.

NBC always shows highlights during the action. I have no idea why they do it. It's not football... there aren't 40 seconds between plays and it isn't baseball... it doesn't take forever for a pitch to be made.

God, NHL on NBC is fucking awful. Horribly produced and how many times do I have to watch Pittsburgh or Detriot every week? I know it's a long shot and will probably never happen, but they should try to get back on FOX. NHL on Fox was easily one of the best produced hockey programs, despite James Brown as the host. I know it's a long shot and will probably never happen, but they should try to get back on FOX. NHL on Fox was easily one of the best produced hockey programs, despite James Brown as the host. I miss the robots.

It ain't great but it's better than just about nothin.' I actually like the commentators as well....much better than listening to the announcers on Hockey Night in Canada imo....and when I am able to climb back into the "middle class" bracket I'll order Center Ice..........

The commentating on NBC is awful. All Doc says is Rising Shot and Ricochet. I swear. If you listen for those two sayings you'll hear him say them probably 15 times a game. Annoying!
