I watch a lot of your videos (thank you, by the way, for all your work), and strangely I had not come across this one until today. Watching you do the original beat and then spice it up a bit, I realized it sounded VERY familiar... then it hit me. This beat and it's "spiced up" versions are EXACTLY what Trent Rezner uses for the song Only. Not only that, but I very quickly learned the groove to Only via this video. So, thanks for that!

brennan, maybe you can try using his last groove with the 2 ghost strokes, and play both on rack toms, or just one on a high tom and the second on the snare. move the right hand around the kit and keep your left on the snare

this is actually really great, even for metal, or grind, i dont know how you feel about grindcore since its not technically metal, but bands like Attack Attack! fuse techno into their beats, check out stick stickly! the end of it is truelly remarkable, the first time hearing something like that.

I'd suggest you try to learn open hand (hats with left, snare etc with right) start real slow, it won't come easy, but later you'll be glad you learned it, later it comes in handy when you can't possibly cross over in a beat. Otherwise just hit a practice pad for a few minutes with just your left hand.
