Actually, they are completely different technologies/languages, etc. You could have a CDMA sim card or you could have a gsm phone without a sim card (theoretically) and they still wouldn't work on each other's networks.

However, Verizon and Sprint use CDMA, which doesn't have a SIM-Card. Thus, making it impossible to run GSM on CDMA. And vice-versa.

Here, in England just like Denmark we only have GSM (European Standard), we are soon getting 4G too. Only America, China and India have CDMA (Which sucks).
