  • like this if you think this movie took place in Ukraine, dislike if you think russia.

  • this show is so fun 2 be in! i luv the story!

  • Thanks for showing these! I only wish they were not so distorted. They look a lot like an HD TV on the wrong setting :(

Awesome movie, though! I always loved this one, it's nearly as good as the Broadway version!

  • The original broadway recording was great, but here, with John Williams' orchestrations makes it SO much bigger and better!

  • very entertaining - happy, sad, funny, joyous - but a real treat on the eyes and ears.....thanks for sharing :)

  • We are doing this musical at my school, I am playing the part of Shpritze

  • Trying out for this play in a week. SOO nervous. Hoping for Hodel of Chava, but aiming for Shprintze in the meantime.

  • Anatevka looks just like Rockland County, New York.

  • lol my boyfriend's jewish. we joke about this movie all the time :)

  • I just got casted as Yente. stoked.

  • When Larry David did the "It was 12!!!!!!!!!" line in Curb Your Enthusiam it was amusing....

  • I'm going to be Chava or Hodle in this play

  • I'm the rabbi in my school production of this and need to do the jewish wedding tradition. HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!

  • lazar nearly takes his hand off with that meat cleaver....5:13

  • Im going to be in this play soon...just as a kid....but im still really excited!!!!! :D

  • So the fiddler on the roof represent all the traditions they have and they want to maintaing and the balance of the fiddler stading in the roof represents the balance they want to make about keeping their traditions in spite of the changing world??? Am I right? Am I wrong?? Can someone help me pls?

  • @Eponina7 I don´t know the answer for sure... but I feel you´re right, I think that is the meaning of the fiddler on the roof, too. I am mexican, but have some jewish blood in my vains from sephardits jews from spain. I love this movie since I was a little girl.

  • @Eponina7 The fiddler represents Anetevca (sorry if I spelled it wrong) and his balence represents tradition :)

  • It feels good to be a Jew :).

  • @benskingtut awesome!! I wish I could know some more jewish traditions in the present day... I ´ve never known one jew person with jew traditions... even my very ancient jew backgrownd... sad...

  • @katyacarcanodiaz If you have any questions about Jewish traditions, I'd be happy to help you. I don't know a ton about Judaism, but I know plenty of websites that could help you out.

  • 3 people lost their balance and fell off the roof

  • omg doing this for my eighth grade play. Can't wait!!

  • gotta to love it!!!! doesn't get any better than this! thanx, it's definetly worth sharing! xoxo

  • "And in the circle of our little village, we've always had our special types. For instance, Yente, the matchmaker. Reb Nachum the beggar, and, most importantly, Tevye the milkman. He shimmes around town bursting into random song and dance!"

  • i memorized all the songs even some dialogues when i was like 10 yrs old when my eldest sister bought the complete vinyl soundtrack, and the paperback.... i love this film!

  • Anatevka looks just like Rockland County, Ny.

  • im doing this right now and im teyve

  • I saw this show live. It was the first real professional musical I'd ever been to. It got me totally hooked on musical theater.

  • "We all live in harmony here. *whispers* It was 12.", "It was 6!" *starts riot*

    yup total harmony.

  • @Dl33tTrollololo1 i love the way traditional jewish culture is portrayed here. it gets my mom and i all excited when we watch this movie. we usually end up singing and dancing along ^^;

  • @singingforsunshine You're so lucky! Have fun! :)

  • I love watching and listening to Anatevka slowly awaken.

  • best musical EVER my skl just did a production and it was AMAZING

  • Chaim Topol was the PERFECT pick for the role. His stage predecessor, Zero Mostel, (although made famous the role) did NOT possess the resounding voice that Topol displayed in the movie. I am of Asian descent, but I LOVE LOVE this movie. ALL the main characters played their part perfectly. I must have been of jewish blood in my previous life. :-)

  • @thn55555 You should see him as Salach Shabbati. Much older film, and a lot funnier.

  • best musical ever

  • My brother's school did a play on the Fiddler on the roof and I loved it!

  • @aly53661 was it hunter elementary?

  • everybody there is going to be a fiddler on the roof play on may 17 and 18 taht river springs charter is going to perform this play at temeku hills tickets will be at the box office.

  • "You may ask how did this tradition get started, i'll tell you...i don't know" ! :D I just LOVE this movie !

  • I rather preferred the intro to the stage musical, where they had the Rabbi sing the blessing, and Nochim actually had some lines, oh, and the original was "he sold him a horse, but delivered a mule." But hey, the movie can't do everything the way the stage musical does. Still, it would have been nice to have The Rumor in the movie also.

  • Rumors are going around that this may be the musical my theatre does next year. :)

  • i saw this movie almost 20 years ago...and believed i was surrogate or a ghost jew ever since. this movie ought to have won the oscar for best picture and actor. amazing music, amazing performances - an all time fav~ thanks a lot for the upload~

  • I absolutely love the music in this! Definately one of my favorite musicals. But fiddling on the roof isn't very hard. I do it all the time xD

  • Marry whom ever Papa picks?! I think not! lol

  • we're doing this musical this year! i tried out but didn't make it. i'm still in it though because i'm in chorus :D

  • That lion is from Dublin Zoo! :D

  • maziltoph

  • I have not seen this since High School! Glad I found it!

  • @kkkaylalynn wow man, what did Jews ever do to you? Huh?? Congratulations man, you've really just shown us the patheticness of your sad life in that one comment. Have fun trying to lead a happy life with that attitude.

  • I love being one of only a handful of people at my school that actually knows and loves this musical from my childhood! Every time I talk about it there is always someone who has to ask what it is and why I still like such an old musical...I simply answer....TRADITION!

  • I hate most Jews but I love this movie.

  • @kkkaylalynn excuse me? that's really racist, you know.

  • @bigmoviemadness They're called trolls, they say things like that just to get under peoples skin. Pay them no attention.

  • @ElRousey

I'm not a troll. I really dislike Jews.

  • @kkkaylalynn theyve been enslaved by egyptions for thousands of years bro, just give them a break

  • @bigmoviemadness

Racist? I thought Jews have been trying for years to convince everyone that they are a religion and not a race. How can I be racist?

  • @kkkaylalynn fine. you were being religonist. happy now?

  • @kkkaylalynn you know when u say u hate people u really mean 2 say u hate your damn self you racist ass bitch

  • @mzangelj20

No I don't hate myself. And I don't really hate Jews either. I just dislike most of them. A lot.

  • @kkkaylalynn Is it the whole Jesus thing? Come on, man, it was over two thousand years ago. Let it go already.

  • @kkkaylalynn wow u really got alot of damn issues. dnt u realize unless we all learn not to hate on each other for jus being what we are we as human beings are never gonna get anywhere u dumb ass.

  • @kkkaylalynn Wow....you're an asshole.

  • @kkkaylalynn Why do you hate Jews? You know, generalizations are generally unfair. Jews are not all bad, they aren't all good. There are good Jews and bad Jews. You don't even know most Jews, so how can you judge them? It is the same with any group of people.

  • @kkkaylalynn Yeah, that doesn't surprise me considering you have "KKK" in your username...

  • i can't believe how long it's been since i've seen this movie. I grew up on this! :D

  • I am watching this bcz i am doing a school play on it(: im one of the best actresses in drama and my teacher told me to watch it(:

  • first time watching this=)

  • Awesome!

  • It's on my bucket list to perform in this musical, even if I'm just in the chorus! :)

  • @LunaLongbottom2448 I'm doing this play in November! :D

  • @LunaLongbottom2448 I just want to be in one musical once! This would be one of the best to be in!

  • @LunaLongbottom2448 its my school musical this year

  • @PayasadasDeCarlito I first went to this at my high school's musical performance of it, loved it from then on just the problem is finding a good showing of it somewhere around me. Just waiting for it to come to Toronto basically, what are you doing in it?

  • @canadianblogsalad I'm just a villager lol I didn't have a prepared monologue ready in time so I got stuck as a chorus role

  • @PayasadasDeCarlito that's still awesome though

  • @canadianblogsalad True, true!

  • I love Chaim Topol as Tevye!

  • Lol! They only sang the sons part once.

  • oy vey i love this movie

  • this was a long song with all the cuts lol

  • i'm glad this is here, i've never seen the whole movie. sooooooooo saaaaaaaaaaad wA WA

  • Were doing this musical in my school this year. I need to deside which character I'm auditioning for. Either Tzeitel or Chava.

  • @ItsOnlyDallis Do Tzeitl! I did Hodel... But Tzeitl was my favorite part!

  • twelvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvve !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love all of fiddler on the roof

  • xD

    reminds me of Borat

  • @MrRuaidhriGarvey omg, not even, Borat is complete crap, this is high quality, intelligent comedy with a story to go along with it

  • @goodalle1987 what do you mean a comedy?

  • @2012babes not really sure what your question is... It's not "a comedy" it's a comical movie like I said. It's filled with jokes intermixed with the drama making it a comical drama/musical. Does that answer what your asking?

  • my middle name is anatevka! oy vey!

  • Must be in Russia/Belorussia before the revolution

  • Their songs r so dang CATCHY

  • where does this movie take place?

  • @lllauralll0091 Russia

  • @ddmnlm0 LOL i can totally imagine someone doing x] it would look funny

  • Can someone name the traditions in here? I need at least five. I'm watching it for my history class and just wanted to check my answers. :)

  • @ChangingPhases Father rules at home, Mother cooks and cleans the house neat. The daughters learn from the mother to handle housework, the Boys learn a trade to one day become successful and lead their own family... Marriage is Arranged and not done however people please.

  • @Luisnobaka: Oh I am so horrible at this only got like one of them right. Lol. Thank you very much. :)

  • Kindest Regards to You and Thank You for posting this video. This epic movie has brought joy to so many over the years.

  • i LOVE this movie the songs the acting it is AMAZING!!

  • oey vey! play it again sam.....good movie and one of my favorite....

  • This is all real.

Anyone who says the Jews never work hard is full of shit.

Maybe in this day and age when we are all computer and IT etc, but the Jews used to bust their ass like everyone else.

  • i saw chayim topol on his farewell tour a few years ago! he was amazing.

  • Thank you for taking the time to post this movie. I needed it for a highschool course in Economics. It was an assignment about living in a traditional society - pro vs. con. Beyond that this was very interesting and informative. Thank you!!!

  • I saw a version of this last night- it was incredible, especially the man who played Tevye! He was really amazing- even better than the original, and I really enjoyed it. The music is brillaint- I hope I can be in it one day :)

  • my boyfriend is about to play perchick

  • IT WAS 12 !!!!!!!

  • my brother was AMAZING at playing Tevya...but not as good as Chaim Topo.

  • I love this movie so much!!!

    Shalom.

  • i love this movie this is my favorite musical

  • I woder why everyone hates Jews, but every school in america does this play? Morrrrrrons.

  • @CorpusChristi83 I do wonder that also myself! Why do people hate Jews? Why do people hate Christians? why do people hate Muslims?

I am a Muslim, and I LOVE everyone! It is wrong to hate someone just for their Religion!

  • @MalikaRayRay2010 - The Islamic principal that every muslim knows, or should, know how to perform - taqqiya.

The "nice" muslims fool non-believers in allah. The koran tells them to lie and act nice til there's enough of em to take over. It's what they do. And have been doing all over the world.

Then again, I am only quoting this for non-muslims to see. .-.

    *quoted from former muslim-friend.*

  • @MalikaRayRay2010 nope. But its not necessarily unnatural. We're made to be closer to those who resemble our families and friends. And often that just happens to be those who are of our same race, our same class, our same religion. That, and it is human to fear the Other

  • when was this set? was it the holocaust? btw no one can dance like topol and look good doing it ; )

  • @OverTheRhineRox Pre-WW1 I believe, so early 1900s. There were still pogroms from the Russians, though.

  • Yes, right before the time of the Russian Revolution.

  • IT WAS TWELVEEEE!!!!!!!!!

  • My school is doing this and I am gonna be Hodel against highschoolers only being 13 :)

  • gotta love chaim topol, coz i dont think there's anyone who can beat him!

  • This musical is one of my favorites. I believe it's Issac Stern plays the violin/fiddle part. If you get a chance to read the book that inspired the movie, Tevye the Dairyman, read it cause that's fantastic as well.

  • I absolutely love this movie! I am so excited for being able to play Tevye in our school's upcoming version!

  • did this play n skool it wasnt up to par as the movie but it was fun

  • When this film version was released, it was criticized a lot for making the shtetl look so appealing.

  • thanks for uploading this!

  • I watch it for Traditions sake!
