there are a lot of people playing charactors in this movie in plays, i am too! im playing yente for my middle school musical. watching this movie has given me a better understanding of yente. thank u for putting this up!
I'm playing Chava in this musical soon. This show is just a perfect classic. It's funny, beautiful, and tear jerking. Just looking at what it was like to live in that kind of culture makes me want to be Jewish! Haha
So the fiddler on the roof represent all the traditions they have and they want to maintaing and the balance of the fiddler stading in the roof represents the balance they want to make about keeping their traditions in spite of the changing world??? Am I right? Am I wrong?? Can someone help me pls?
@Eponina7 I don´t know the answer for sure... but I feel you´re right, I think that is the meaning of the fiddler on the roof, too. I am mexican, but have some jewish blood in my vains from sephardits jews from spain. I love this movie since I was a little girl.
@benskingtut awesome!! I wish I could know some more jewish traditions in the present day... I ´ve never known one jew person with jew traditions... even my very ancient jew backgrownd... sad...
@katyacarcanodiaz If you have any questions about Jewish traditions, I'd be happy to help you. I don't know a ton about Judaism, but I know plenty of websites that could help you out.

@Dl33tTrollololo1 i love the way traditional jewish culture is portrayed here. it gets my mom and i all excited when we watch this movie. we usually end up singing and dancing along ^^;
Chaim Topol was the PERFECT pick for the role. His stage predecessor, Zero Mostel, (although made famous the role) did NOT possess the resounding voice that Topol displayed in the movie. I am of Asian descent, but I LOVE LOVE this movie. ALL the main characters played their part perfectly. I must have been of jewish blood in my previous life. :-)
everybody there is going to be a fiddler on the roof play on may 17 and 18 taht river springs charter is going to perform this play at temeku hills tickets will be at the box office.
I rather preferred the intro to the stage musical, where they had the Rabbi sing the blessing, and Nochim actually had some lines, oh, and the original was "he sold him a horse, but delivered a mule." But hey, the movie can't do everything the way the stage musical does. Still, it would have been nice to have The Rumor in the movie also.
i saw this movie almost 20 years ago...and believed i was surrogate or a ghost jew ever since. this movie ought to have won the oscar for best picture and actor. amazing music, amazing performances - an all time fav~ thanks a lot for the upload~
@kkkaylalynn wow man, what did Jews ever do to you? Huh?? Congratulations man, you've really just shown us the patheticness of your sad life in that one comment. Have fun trying to lead a happy life with that attitude.
I love being one of only a handful of people at my school that actually knows and loves this musical from my childhood! Every time I talk about it there is always someone who has to ask what it is and why I still like such an old musical...I simply answer....TRADITION!
@kkkaylalynn wow u really got alot of damn issues. dnt u realize unless we all learn not to hate on each other for jus being what we are we as human beings are never gonna get anywhere u dumb ass.
@kkkaylalynn Why do you hate Jews? You know, generalizations are generally unfair. Jews are not all bad, they aren't all good. There are good Jews and bad Jews. You don't even know most Jews, so how can you judge them? It is the same with any group of people.
@PayasadasDeCarlito I first went to this at my high school's musical performance of it, loved it from then on just the problem is finding a good showing of it somewhere around me. Just waiting for it to come to Toronto basically, what are you doing in it?
@2012babes not really sure what your question is... It's not "a comedy" it's a comical movie like I said. It's filled with jokes intermixed with the drama making it a comical drama/musical. Does that answer what your asking?
@ChangingPhases Father rules at home, Mother cooks and cleans the house neat. The daughters learn from the mother to handle housework, the Boys learn a trade to one day become successful and lead their own family... Marriage is Arranged and not done however people please.

@MalikaRayRay2010 - The Islamic principal that every muslim knows, or should, know how to perform - taqqiya.

@MalikaRayRay2010 nope. But its not necessarily unnatural. We're made to be closer to those who resemble our families and friends. And often that just happens to be those who are of our same race, our same class, our same religion. That, and it is human to fear the Other
