Yes you can, there are no age limits to be a pilot, there are limits at the upper end to be able to operate as a commercial pilot. Not in Australia, but some regions apply an upper limit of 65.

A currency flight is also a legal requirement set by the regulator whereby if you have not flown an airplane in eg 35 days, you would be required to complete a recency flight or simulator.
