  • Awesome \../

  • Went to see Seasick last December. 1 really funny part of his set was when a member of the audience shouted 'play us some of that old time blues Steve.' He got told in no uncertain turns, Blues, no chance. You come to see the wrong man if you want blues. I'm a song and dance man, not a blues man!

  • three people didn't wait for the train

  • Seasick Steve is the dogs balls!! Best blues man in a lifetime.... I'll kick anyones ass who says different!!!!

  • Should be called 'sensational' steve! Awesome!

  • This is the kind of Blues I really love !!! WONDERFUL !!

  • @ cfs1035 'Prospect Lane'

  • Name of the song?

  • Just love it.

  • what a sexy guitar

  • Steve, you durn crazy as a weasel up a chimney

  • Love him, true musician. playin from the heart. dont care if he could be my grandfather. fuck the newskool music!!

  • I shook his hand, get at me.

  • the sad thing about this is steve is an amazing true artist that dose old time roots american music, but america has no clue about him, everyone in the U.K loves him, they understand what a great rare artist he is, but america just dosent get it.. i guess if its not media driven pop or rap then america turns away. and thats bullshit. lol.

  • @ClassicRockfan79

I'm a 22 year old American, as proud as I can be in these times, and I'd say this is the best damn music that ever jumped into my ears. Amazing stuff. Powerful and with so much emotion. I'd define music as just that. Powerful, and from the heart and soul.

  • @mcjoz88 im a 32 year old american.. what imm saying is in america steve will never be understood by most younger american people because he is real and pure...

  • just when you thought real music was gone forever...

  • me emociona oirlo ...

  • thats is just how you do it he is just class !!

  • @zoso1 it looks like a pickup pulled off a harmony guitar and mounted in the sound hole:)

  • 1 person out of 339 just couldn't wait for the train.

  • ..how is it possible that everything he plays on look like shit but sounds just ...GREAT

  • @broadsuspender props to his props... and the sound.... that comes from his soul, not from his instruments.

  • "Thats about that....."....

    awesome simply doesn't cover it....

  • Thats how you sing 'n play the blues fellas. Listen 'n learn!

  • This is so awesome. A favorite for sure

  • Yes it's tuned to open d

  • Think it's open d tuning?

Been trying to Suss it out!

    Great song

Is that guitar metal or wood?

  • @407bug i think its just an old spanish guitar with a metal tailplate and harmony pickup

  • does this song have a name?

  • @DeadFoxMeat Prospect Lane.

  • If Jesus was American... This is probably what he would look like.

  • what tuning is that guitar in??

  • Perfect.............nuv said...yep yep

  • America is deaf! How in the hell did we let this guy get away..........

  • @lothre

And now we got 'im ;)

  • Seasick is a great musician. So much better than most of today's stuff.

  • This guy does´nt give a hack-shit about "X-Factor" cause he´s got it dude! .-)

  • :) i thought he could only play his 25$ 3-strings guitar....he blew me away

  • Goes to show its not the guitar its the person playing it, this guy spent a large proportion of his life as a tramp, has a bashed up old guitar which doesnt look like it would fetch $50 and yet hes awesome.

  • wisdom for the ages, " that's about that"

  • He used to use that guitar in the level devils, where he played more distorted stuff.

I'm guessing that's what the pickup is mainly for

  • I loved the way he ended it by saying: "That's about that". Be it part of his act or not its ... words cannot do it justice :)

  • @bbauck1 hey if you cant handle steve's awesomeness then dont click his videos

  • I love a lot of different kinds of music Rush , Zeppelin , JJ Cale , Porcupine Tree , Floyd the list goes on and on .......... but this is the real deal , just sit him on your back porch in the evening ..... tequila , salt & lemon some mellow weed , and some good friends and you just had the best concert you ever been to.

  • He plays so nice and so smoothly! He is so amazing! Always laughing and having the time of his life, he always looks so happy. I love him + his music

  • leadbelly-esque

  • If i could do that i'd love to travel around the world just busking all day, i wouldn't care if i had no where to sleep that night, just get enough for food and enough to get to the next place.

I tried to play the guitar but i am just not a natural, i mean music in general. Then again i don't know if it works like that, does it? Do you HAVE to be a natural in order to ever become a good musician? I'd think you would, but i don't know for sure, i suppose practise makes perfect in all things.

  • @Sozlled In my opinion there ainn't such a thing as "natural talent". It is all practice and the rest is about being centered in yourself. The thing is, that practicing music starts before you are born. For example, my father is a musician and so I started to listen to music before I was born. Then my mother sang with me child songs for about an hour everytime I went to sleep. Of cause i have a "Natural" feeling for tones and harmony. I guess thats about the trick. So never give up trying ;)

  • @Sozlled just a hard worker, or naturally obsessive, or naturally into patterns, or very emotional. They're all different paths to the same end.

  • Is he playing a 6-string now? :o

  • modern day leadbelly

  • us old 'uns can still cut it.check out this old guys videos.grandad john

  • sweet.

  • gret music just love it

  • it's rare to see someone skilled like this at using a slide...

  • whats the song called? :O

  • @wtfducks0 Prospect Lane - Seasick Steve

  • Truly sorry for what America didn't do for you Steve. But thank you for what you do for us.

  • what a great man ... pure, full of soul ! as long as people like him keep on making music, life will be worthful.

  • pure.....simple....heart....this is beauty

  • Martin parlour guitar....size 00 ...probably fiftys or before.

It's the real thing.....sounds period because it is period....Pretty guitar with the most incredible voice....love this guy...taking music back where it belongs...in the hearts of the people...not in the pockets of the record producers.

  • Fuckin A! This is music. Fuck the damn plastic industry of mass production pop shit they spoon feed us on the fucking MTV. If I see one more Hollywood whore lip syncing some shitty "hit" song I swear I'm gonna put a bullet in the tube and call it a day.

  • whats that in the soundhole of his guitar? like a mini resonator? is this some jerry rigged doo-hickey or a real thing?

  • @zoso1 most likely an electric pick up of some kind

  • @cousinmerle Yeah it's just a random single-coil pickup by the looks of it, in the middle of making my own

  • @cousinmerle It's an old gold foil pickup taken from a cheap Harmony guitar from the 60's. He screwed it to a plate and attached it to the soundboard. If you look closely, you'll notice he's using nickel guitar strings (aka electric guitar strings). This is because normal guitar pickups don't capture the sound of the wound brass strings as well.

Another person who played hackwired, insane acoustics was the late great Hasil Adkins.

  • @cousinmerle It's a gold foil pickup from an old Harmony electric guitar. If you look closely, he has the guitar strung with thick electric strings. Although in this vid, he's playing acoustically, when in concert, the Harmony pickup responds better to electric strings.

  • @cousinmerle its a harmony pickup

  • @cousinmerle it looks like a gold foil dearmond pickup

  • @zoso1 an old electric guitar pickup exaktly the same as on his 3 string electric

  • @zoso1 the guitar is an electric acoustic guitar also know as a Electro acoustic guitar so yeah those would be his pickups :)

  • @zoso1 looks like an old Harmony pickup I think...

  • @zoso1 its probly just an acoustic pickup, but its likely that its got some kinda seasick "accent" to it haha

  • @zoso1. It's a 1950's/1960's DeArmond Goldfoil pickup. These are 'hot', and give a real Bluesy-sound. Ry Cooder is a great fan of these, and has a couple of them on his guitars. Seasick's likes them as well, because all of his guitars that I know of have some sort of DeArmond Pickup on them - bar the cigar box guitars and Morris Minor Hub Cap guitar.
