Nice arcs. Where, may I ask, did you get one of these transformers? I've had a look around and can't seem to find much information regarding how to actually aquire one.
@VicJLo Corona discharge: the air get's ionised, but not well enough to create an arc: it starts hissing and you can see it in the dark (or, when it's very heavy, at these conditions)
I used to work as a power line electrician for a couple of years and i know those transformers rather well. 1. your insulated handle which you use to start the arc is WAY too short to be save!
2. those Transformers do explode like a bomb!
If i were you, i would stop playing with that thing before it bites you in the Ass!
you can drive a sgtc with as much power as you want, And this would make a very nice jacob ladder, unlike a mot, potentials trannies and pole pigs are very low impedance so when theres no power on the secondary being drawn there is almost no power on the primary and when you short the secondary it would draw indefinite amounts of power on the primary so with out current limiting it would explode!!!!
just pothetic

hi the pyro,
nice circuit, plenty of current :)).
do you have the schematic for the driver please.
thanks steve.

Nice! lol @ the breaker going off at the end!

if it was running at some miliamps then the spark-arc would be very short?

hahaha lol he blew the braker.

AWESOME!!! Bro, could u sell me one of these? And if not, where did u get 'em?
SmashCOBamberg 2 years ago
guy... what do you want
with the power of this?
It's to much to drive a normal sgtc
and to few to drive a jacobs ladder...
i would prefer a pole pig/bombarder/modified x ray transformer. ;)
And why are you using a current limiting?
PTs are hard wound transformers... an you must take advantage of this. :D
So you could draw bigger arcs without any current limiting. :)
Microwave89 2 years ago
stupid?
you can drive a sgtc with those ( see my videos) ans a jacobs ladder also(see also my vids)
i i wouldn´t limit the current my fuse would went when i plug those in .-.-
and if not, i would do when i start to draw arcs

@ThePyromanic Tesla's AC current is very useful? Hehe

I dont think it compares to a fucking 23kv

Was that your circuit breaker tripping, when it went dark?
weegerri1sm 3 years ago
yeah, the fuse is only rated with 16A, but the transformer is actually drawing somthing arround 40A. so no wonder :P
ThePyromanic 3 years ago
that could make one hell of a big tesla :)
zezimashock 3 years ago
i have a identical one and 3 other pts of the same typ, so i could bild a even bigger tesla coil :P
only the capacitor is a problem...
atm i don´t have the money for such a big one
ThePyromanic 3 years ago
if you had the money to make one (what if :P)
wouldn't it be fun to make a big Tesla out of it?
well it still is one nice transformer,
I wish I had one :(
where did you find the transformer?
(if I may ask :)
zezimashock 3 years ago
yeah but i don´t have the money :( and not enough space for such a big coil...
i got them from a local energy provider for almost nothing :P
ThePyromanic 3 years ago
i think you must be over 18 to ask one :(
butt still,
love your vids.
zezimashock 3 years ago
actually not really :P
i´m 16 and i got 6 of these transformers ^^

nice job asking them XD
ps i am 16 too.

nja, ist zwar massig power und strom, aber eben nur 23kV
da ist der kriechweg find ich lang genug ;P

hahaha there was your fuse gone :D

jeah still not as good as i hoped -.-
maybe i´m gonna try a 20kg transformer as a current limiting next time :P
