It depends. If you are doing this to experience I would say it's worth it. But there are features that don't work or fully work at all, such as the voice calling.
Those who get this error after installing NiTDroid: usually this is due to missing a step in the installation, particularly the first few steps (flashing the kernel). Please try again, following each step slowly and carefully. :)
evrything went fine until i rebooted my device and when i press 2 its gives me an error root filesystem mmcblk0p2 not available guru meditation.....press any button to panic....
this is really pissing off...any suggestions wht do i need to do?please help!!
Getting a "Guru Meditation" error means that upon booting, the device can't find the file needed to boot it into your OS of choice...which means you have skipped a step. :)

hey i need some help, I succesfully insatlled nitdroid once but uninstalled it because of a glitch in the android marketplace. Im trying to reinstall it and keep getting a handful of errors, hopefully someone can help. Btw i first installed android 2.3.4 and am trying to reinstall it
I recorded that on my computer. Just configure a "VNC" connection (like remote desktop) so that your N900's screen will display on your computer. And once done, record the video. :)
In human language, the N900 is telling you that "You're asking me to unzip/extract (bzip) a file named Nitdroid x.x.x.tar.bz2 that is supposed to be located in 'MyDocs', but I can't seem to find it. Please check that the file is indeed in 'MyDocs' and not in another location or a sub-folder so that I can continue with your request." :)

Friend I think you may have either missed a step or incorrectly followed a step. :) Are you trying to install to a MicroSD card? The error you mentioned says "mmcblk1p2" by the way. In the instructions for installing to the EMMC (Internal Storage) the tutorial says for us to use "mmcblk0p2".
@topet2k12001 man I do everything in the video! and i dont have a microSD card! i dont know what to do....
maybe can be that i dont have the repository complete? or that whem i do the apt-get update say a error and the end?? that can affect in that problem?? couse i do all the step 2 times. i erase all and try again and nothing...
sorry if i write bad i dont speak too much english...
ooohh!! in another tutorial i see that the error can be fixit inserting i microSD but i try and nothing...
Hey TopEt... Can I have Ur PeRsonal Email Address.. Iam HavinG some Issues..Installing Gingerbread... I Downloaded All required Files... Flow Steps and When Gingerbread Installed... During Boot It Gives Some Error of "PERMISSION DENIED" and Again Boot Menu Comes.... I need Ur Help
"mkdir /and" tells the device to create a directory named "and". The message you saw means that the directory has been created prior. Perhaps you already attempted this before, that's why the "and" directory is already there.
Yes you have to download some stuff in advance. Please visit wiki.maemo.org and search for the article on NITDroid installation. The links to the download files are there as well as the full installation instructions. :)

Im having problem when I finish job wih Leafpad, and before Updates i tried to see if my Android is isntalled then i rebooted my phone and it didnt give me to choose between maemo and android, basically multiboot wont work for me.... any tips ?
Do you have a MicroSD card on your N900? If so can you try removing it and then start the phone again? Also I recommend visiting talk.maemo.org, you'll get a lot of help there. :) I'm thinking that there could be an error in the way you did the Leafpad steps...that's the most probable reason I can think of.
Nope, it is not required...I never had an external/removable MMC (MicroSD) when I did all this. In fact this procedure was created for those who don't have an MMC.
Nope, no external MicroSD. This is an installation method where NITDroid is installed into the eMMC (internal memory/storage, a.k.a. "Home" partition).
is it worth the effort? can we call and recieve phonecalls? i have install it succesfully in the microsd but calls aren't possible... :(

can l install that without internal storage?
MsMcdrum5 2 months ago
@MsMcdrum5
Internal storage, for the N900, refers to the built-in 32GB storage. Or are you referring to the removable storage such as a Micro SD?
