Just back from riding out on the ex bucker ..(I hope)but boy are his feet sticky leaving his friend who we can hear all the way down the lane .So I circled him this way and that and bumped him with my boots and used the popper on his backside and won but it was hard work ,he was sweating and stiff and it was not very good .I am reluctant to open the front door too much incase he starts bucking ... anyway thanks for all your vids ,wish there were some of you taking sticky horse out of the pens
I don't have a clicker I just click my fingers, wave the whip thing and it still works, and I don't even have a round pen, I live in the bush lol nothing fancy here just some basic fences and a whole lot of trees. I used what I had and followed the principle of pressure release when he turned to me took me longer but I got a halter on my horse today without a struggle, same horse wanted to kill me a week ago
Wingers can jam it in their pipe and smoke it, a week ago this horse wanted to kill
@Firebird894 And just to further demonstrate what David says, if u went to this horse all soft with a carrot he would have struck you down spun kicked your head off and torn that carrot off you and u better pray you had another one to toss for him while u drag your butt out under that fence. He got that way cos he was treated like a damn baby his whole life. Kids pet, how cute isnt he sweet... NO he wasnt bloody sweet if it were not for Davids videos I might be in hospital now.
Way to go David! You are right on! It is refrshing to have a knowledgable horseman share his wisdom (and wit) without trying to sell us a carrot stick and rope! Love your videos...keep them coming!
ok, so I am working my way backwards on these videos...next time I want to see the coffee, and Merry Christmas to you all too! Even though Christmas has already happened :)
Now people, I am a 45 yr. old woman, who has absolutely NO horse experience, and within 20 min. I had my horse following me around like a puppy. I caught the pony and worked her in our cattle pen, and she is gonna take longer, but that's ok. She got to where she was following me around a bit in the pen. Still a little shy in the pasture, but lets me walk up to her now. I can't wait to get the book I've ordered so that I can learn more! B4 people say crap about this, they need to try it!
Wish I had a video to post. Got out in the pasture today to get my horses up to work with, and of course they wouldn't come to me, so I waved the whip around and clicked, putting on the pressure until they would face me...Everytime they turned away from me- I'd click and wave the whip. After about 10 min of running, Mystery, the TWH, lets me go up to him and pet him good--then he started following me just like they do you in the videos! Let people bellyache all they want: This works! (continued)
Marry Christmas to you to David!I love your video clips. They have helped me out with my two horsesTrue horsemanship is gon.Thats sad.Thank you again for showing me pressure and release.God Bless
Merry Christmas to you too! You are so right on target, I just don't get how anyone can's see it!?! Funny story: I don't know how to ride yet (age 45) but got a horse. I got a saddle for Christmas and put it on the back of the couch to adjust my stirrups, and FELL OFF! My husband said,"Are you sure that you are gonna be able to ride a horse when you can't even manage the couch?!" Got a long way to go, but looking forward to it! Keep up the good work, hope you make it to TN really soon!
Way to go David, you are right!
