@MissNwakaego @kobra8600 Your theory has been contradicted since MANY nostalgic sonic fans seemed to have love Sonic 4 and Sonic Colors. And the fact that Sonic Generations is coming out soon will make MANY Sonic fans, modern and old school, piss their pants with joy. I think it's (somewhat) safe to assume that SEGA is starting to walk on the right path....pretty much the opposite way from Capcom (damn you for cancelling MML3).

To be honest, even though I grew up on the Nintendo side, Sonic's original games beat out Mario's in the music department by a huge margin, and in gameplay only by a small amount.

Mario had better level design. But Sonic was just more fun.

Nowadays though, Sonic games are total jokes.

I think Sonic games had better level design by far! The way they nicely flowed, and had multiple paths and secret routes and items to discover, but I have to give it to Mario for the secret exits and levels.

pretty good, but...they don't got the big ass drums on scrapBrain, that 'bumbum BUMBUM bumbum'. and it sounds to cheery, too me. Nailed the Hydrocity Zone with those trombones, but it's a little slow. Sonic2 Boss is PERFECT with those cellos. Epic. End theme is way too slow.

Just look at the Mario games. Even when Mario made the transition to 3D, Nintendo could still maintain Mario's appeal and create great games. However, when Sonic made the transition to 3D, the games began to get worse. The last 3D Sonic game I enjoyed was Sonic Adventure 2. After that, the Sonic games became mediocre. I'm excited for the next Sonic game that will come out since it will please the old school fans.

Oh I thought you meant Nintendo's general direction as a company. But I almost completely agree that Nintendo is treating their first party characters like gods. On the other hand there isn't much good second/third party games. (Id consider sonic second party) so If Nintendo treated sonic like a first party character overall he would be a lot better. However it appears that sega is handling that already.

@kobra8600 keep in mind that when the dreamcast tanked, many of the best Sonic Team members left. Also, the Dreamcast tanked very shortly after the release of Sonic Adventure 2. I think there is a correlation here. Lastly, I would check out Sonic Colors and watch the IGN review. It is in some ways superior to Sonic Adventure 1 and 2. It looks really good and that is coming from a guy who has been waiting since Sonic Adventure 2 for a good game.
