@Monkonmunky the whistle tones were live,trust...I know her voice like the back of my hand & usually I sing along w/ ALL HER NOTES! The recorded version doesnt go THAT high.I know why she sang it that way live. As she runs to the recorded sustained note,she tests her range by going up to the staccato grace note & back to lower sustained note.She was actually about 2 -3 steps above the recorded version,a little sharp, but knew that she could do the lower recorded versions arangement,as the finale

@keptdude ...yeah, she has a tendancy to hold back the last few years,I think from so much comparison, and she's aloud the opinions to affect her confidence,which then shows in her live shows. Its not easy, when everyone is competing with you,the pressure,but instead of reacting by being more careful,shrinking...which as you can see by all the negative,ugly,vulgar,musically ignorant,yet highly opinionated comments...creates more negative comparison. She should simply be herself, off and onstage.

@XERXESTUDIOS ...one can only "sing",usually only on an open "aaahhhh" tonality, maybe only a staccato, short piercing chirp,like Denise Williams does,or sustain a note or run in the mid/upper 6th octave (like an F6 & above) or definitely in 7th octave (C7 to the C8 at the top of piano)in whistle placement, which is a completely unique techique of producing sound using your chords, then "regular" singing,thus the term "Whistle tone".If a person tries to use head or falsetto,it sounds strained.

@keptdude ...the only reason I'm aware of so much about this stuff, is from her inspiration to me,when I was studying voice,and operatic/classical in technique & style,when I discovered my own whistle register, which is rare, but not unique to only a few. I can't really explain if a person know alot the "registers" of the voice, and their differences in how and where a tone is placed, but the reason why a tone at that height either sounds sqeaky,falsetto,a scream, or clear,is how its placed.

@Monkonmunky ...simply because this song,is a particular type of whistle arrangement in an area of the 7th octave, that needs more careful placement...and usually better and more easily sustained then when she or anyone attempts to rif in that register...its like a violin, at the top of the range,the notes get closer togethr on the strings,just like on the vocal chords,so if there isnt a confident sense of how to rise into that note,it can just cut off,thus her finale run seems more comfortable
