You should not do a cover. Just do your own music. Your band is cool, but this song is a different genre. The parts that really made this song, that made it catchy cannot be created through hard guitars and distortion or louder, harder singing. The emotion behind the original had to do with the way intense pain was expressed subtly and in soothing tones. Further, this song needs the background gospel choir from the original Cry Me A River. That's what makes it.
