Its always good to sleep beside them and have safety locks. Its sad how many stories that continue to come up like kids being left in cars, are lost when a parent is napping, are dissapears while playing out alone when they should have been watched by an adult not there sibblings. I understand kids go out and play with there sisters and brother thats normal but check on them from time to time if they are small you should be watching always.

I lock my son in i have the couch pushed againt our patio door because he likes to climb, i also have the bolt lock which he can reach but i put the chain on the one were its hard for someone from the outside to bust into. Id never forgive my self if i allowed him to be able to get out and i was sleep are not paying attention at the time. I feel these things are possible but after awhile you have to continue to check on your child if they are at that age were they wonder.

very sad. heartbreaking. People should get alarms or use dead bolts, this reagedy could have been prevented. I am not blaming the aprent, but the first thing I would have done had my child done that before is one of these things, or had the sense to cherck for my child in the house when she realized her door was open.
