apple does well because of reviews like this. the "complicated" archos remote is to support web browsing. ever try browsing with apple tv? only apple fanboys like apple tv more. once you give archos tv a little time to figure it out (yes, it is more complicated) it pays. how did apple mange to make simple/non-functional cool?

because the majority of people enjoy things that they can pick up and go without having to figure the device out which for me is boring and limited in functionality which s why i like linux
