thanks for youre vidio reply , i had a look at this one before it looks good i think i will get this one , thanks , i also found a 6.2bB fan nocta NF-S12B FLX Ultra quiet.,+ the ic-Dimond 24 caret thermol paist is very good tempratures 29*c idle got it on southbridge chip and gpu , it it pricely but you do get good quality, you get what you pay for.
is this cooler compatible with am3+ fx8120 cpu and sabortooth 990fx MB , and can it run fanless when runing high-end games like nfs the run and dirt 3 ?.
@mysuperpc1 it is am3+ compatible, so it will fit on your MB/CPU. Just check if it fits in your case cuz its massive. Also, put a 800 rpm scythe slip stream on there if u really hate noise.. it's almost soundless and still provides significant airflow to cool your CPU to great temperatures.
BTW I forgot to mention with a cheap XFX 6950 below it and my OC at 4.4ghz (to promote a little more stability from my bottom of the barrel Gigabyte board) the temps are around mid 60s under Prime95. With gaming it can edge up towards the 60s but not usually higher.
This is exactly what I wanted at $40. Nice job Scythe!
@1nn3run1v3rs3 Yup everything worked out great! Only forgot to plug in the fan connector to the motherboard before Installing the cpu :D so had a bit of a hassle there but everything went smooth!
Laid my pc with bottom half on my table, with rest sticking sideways off it, so i could hold the cpu cooler while my dad screwed in the screws, worked fantasticly!
@fantasmaofdoom That is awesome, I'm glad it worked. Thinking back on it i might have been tempted to do it like that but my crappy case has no cutout.
@mupp33n I don' think it was too out of line with what AS recommends. The problem is that the paste wouldn't disconnect from the end of the tube and i had to double it back over to keep it in line. All in all I would prefer to have too much on there rather than too less, although having too much does have a tendency to encourage comments about it. ^_^
@iLikeCheeseziez I'm glad you liked it. I've always been a big fan of the "connect the cable then cram the excess into whatever empty space is available" method. As long as it doesn't restrict the airflow, that is (restricting airflow is the job of hard drives).
I've now got a bigger non-modular power supply in there, a 4th hard drive, and a 6950 that takes 2 PCI-E power cables. You thought it was bad before lol.
Omfg I'm gonna have to tear my system apart to install this thing.. Please tell me there's another way?... This would be so much easier when you haven't got an installed system already..
you shouldn't have to clean the base if you just peeled the plastic off. Using a cloth will leave small pieces of dust and 'fuzz' on the heatsink base.
@iTehTunePawd Do you trust that there is no contaminants under that plastic? It is recommended to use a lint free cloth such as the one pictured in the video. I would recommend to go by the application instructions for whatever specific compound you're using.
**********************WATCH OUT WHEN TIGHTENING SCREWS DO THEM 1+1+1+1 instead of first the 1 locked than the 2nd.. etc.. just a tiny bit 1 than a tiny bit the 3 etc... dont just fasten them 1 by one ESPECIALLY with motor cycles this is how you mess up cilinders =)
Great video, I installed a Mugen II today and although it wasnt as easy as it looks in the video, it's not that bad. Btw: It's much easier to do step 2 before step 1. There's no need to wait with the installation of the bolts/nuts.
You are certainly correct about step 1 and step 2 being interchangeable... I think the directions even have it as you suggest.
Another thing I thought about that might make it easier still is to leave the backplate off while you drop the board on top of the heatsink, if you can line up the screw holes with the holes in the motherboard it might make it easier to get it all lined up. The paste should hold it in place until you get it screwed in (shoulda mentioned that!)
Will this cooler fit in a Cooler Master CM690II Advanced with a Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H?

Hopefully my installation will go fine in a couple of days :D
Thank you for showing this! Hopefully I can leave my motherboard in my case (I have a cpu cutout)
fantasmaofdoom 5 months ago
@fantasmaofdoom I hope it worked out bro! Not me though, I think doing it inside the case would make it actually difficult.

can you tell me what are your idle temperatures, and what room temperature you have, also which case you using !
GameAddictedIvy 6 months ago
@GameAddictedIvy Idle is 32C at 72F room temp. The case is an old Gigabyte Posoiden. Not the best case, no fancy cable management solutions.
1nn3run1v3rs3 4 months ago
That is some neat cable management! And you used a exact nice amount of Thermal paste!
Look friends, that is me doing some oldskool irony!

Is this gonna fit in the Cooler Master Elite 430 with the 2x4 Corsair XMS3 RAM?
0UnknownLegend0 6 months ago
@0UnknownLegend0 if it fits in my elite 335 it will fit in your 20mm wider cm 430 :)
And dont worry about ram height, you can lift the cooling fan up and down

good video.
but you really need cable management ;)

One question, how did you aligned the cooler with the motherboard inverted? I mean, did you looked below the mobo?
Great tutorial by the way!
Sorry for my poor english and thank you in advance!
