That was really stupid. I bet your AFR was off the charts and who knows what you would have don't to your valves if you ran it any longer like that. Not to mention with no exhaust running to the hot side of your turbo you lose ALL your HP. Way to go.
you are all idiots on a turbo engine you dont want back pressure after the turbo cause It increases the load on the turbo therefore decreasing spool. and also the valves of the wrx and wrx sti are liquid sodium filled so you don't have to worry about the whole cooling problem like you do on old v8. there not solid and sodium doesn't expand an contract nearly enough to damage the vlaves. hell a normal egt on an sti is around 1600 degrees. so how about you all do a lil research before you talk
the valves can be damaged if you run an engine without headers, but it wont hurt them if you only run it for a short time. If you run it too long and the valves get hot they can crack when the colder air hits them cuasing them to cool too rapidly, headers stop this by cuasing the air around them to cool more slowly
@jaydnisevil idk why though... maybe it's just cuz my f4i revs to 14k but when i basically put a straight pipe on my bike, i found out that the lack of back pressure was making my exhaust valves slam down too hard without a tune. Can't see why this wouldn't carry over.
Why would backpressure effect valve closing speed? Only cam profile and valve springs effects that. The valves are not going to close any faster if the camp profile doesn't change.
Performance in terms of exhausts come from escape velocity.. you need to keep the gas flow high and reduce backpressure, have no headers or a large exhaust and well year 11 physics lesson A1V1=A2V2. You have a large exhaust pipe with a fixed volume, velocity reduces.
lol best headers arent lack of headers... headers, if properly designed, unlike what you thought, actually help to suck the air out of the cylinder. by taking those off you actually lose power. not, the valves prolly wont suffere like these idiots say, at least not too much. they can talk about back pressure but even so, proper headers create vacuum which would then, assuming they're right, would be worse than low back pressure because it would be negative pressure. just to mythbust that crap
Man that sounds fucking weird...

umak3m3g1ggl3,your the fucking assclown.the valves arent solid?backpressure slows spool?
so i guess hitting full boost (23psi)by 2750rpm and still having a cat must mean im doing something wrong.
