  • That prop looks huge on a 701. Anyways that was short ;-)

  • how much r one of these and what skill level is needed to pilot one. it looks unsafe.

  • maybe the nose wheel was off but the main gear is what counts...it was about 92 feet...

  • Any of these planes with fixed slots at the wing's leading edge will perform great.

    Good demonstration : )

  • that rotax has such a recognizable sound

  • do you need a licence to fly these also where can you buy them from

  • pffft! Without the headwind, the takeoff roll would have been at least 95 feet.

  • i wonder how much shorter it can get with turbo wing :)

  • Nice get up an go ...Forgot to say fly.

  • I would disagree with the 82 ft. Sure, the plane rotates at 82 ft, but it doesn't become airborne until barely after the runway numbers. You can see this if you pause it right at 2:48. I would say closer to 95 feet or so.

  • Someone please give a non pilot some perspective here. What would one consider normal amount of runway to take off on average for a plane in this catagory. Thanks.

  • Well it depends greatly on the weight and the weather, but lets say at full weight 1680 lbs, that is with pilot and passenger and full tanks the 100HP engine and standard temperature, about 200 ft of runway and 230 ft to clear a 50 ft obstacle at the end of the runway.

  • That wasn't 82 feet that went way aft the 90 feet mark.

  • @SteveCessna152 r u stupid

  • It'd probably do a little better if you took the tape measure out, and wore flip flops. Cool video.

  • Great video, Fantastic plane for the bush.how much fuel and what type of engine is it?

  • thats what i call a short field takeoff

  • 82' or 92' ... who cares..... its still nothing by my calculations.

  • It was up before the 82 foot mark. Watch when the shadow separates from the bottom of the tire. Nice video!

I use to work at Zenith Aircraft and once there was going to be some sort of STOL contest so Nick was out practicing to see just how short a take off he could get. I watched him take off in about 10 feet when he ran the engine rpms up before letting go of the brakes!! It was cool!

  • More like 95 feet, but anyway - well done and nice plane! :)

  • That wasn't 82ft. You rotated at 82ft but the main gear didn't leave the ground till after the 90ft mark.

  • @N444HM Mais tout de meme c;est un bon boulot et ca il faut le reconnaitre. Barvo pour le pilote!
