I love the whole Continentalization thing, but please bring back the music in watch?v=YDM3iohdixQ - That was the BEST United safety vid music, man!!! What they did with this vid was bastardize Rhapsody...
It's a shame that the video has a commercial in front of it. If they want your attention, they should probably dispense with that.....The production quality is good tho. Nice animation at the end, but a lot is 777 even on the B747 video...
@crackaddict444 The tulip ain't coming back in the near future. The airline officials said that they CO globe better represents what they want to convey.
@crackaddict444 Mediocrity meaning not using something very "exciting"/"different"?
I know Delta, Air New Zealand, TAP, etc. deliberately use "fun" and "wild" videos, but UA clearly wants to portray a blander image
But the voices in this video are better than the ones in the pre-merger United video. I prefer being able to see the whole cabin rather than the blue background - Also my feelings may be colored by the pre-merger Continental, which IMO didn't have that good of a video either
@VicenteMosin The United videos actually used FAs in the video, all of which were friendly, good looking, and had an identity. They were also unique in that each specific aircraft had one. Mediocrity fits this new airline perfectly. Mediocre livery, brand, product, CEO, and now safety videos. The smugness from those over at Camp Continental will ruin this airline. United might not have been perfect, but they sure did a crap ton of things better than Continental, the videos being just one of them
@crackaddict444 - Again, not only are United fanboys unhappy, Continental fanboys are unhappy. They think mediocrity is coming too, but from the United side or, as a consequence of the United merger. Houston lost the headquarters. The airline now charges for food, even on New York-Hawaii flights. CO fanboys hate Smisek as much as you do.
@ohianjo People on both sides are unhappy - Continental fans feel like the merger poisoned their airline, and United fans lamented the loss of the tulip
@VicenteMosin Except it's Continental's CEO running the damn thing, it's CO's livery, brand, product changes, certificate, you name it. The CO fans can shove it, United and their fans are losing far more than you people.
@crackaddict444 But Houston lost the headquarters, and the food charges were newly introduced. The pillows, blankets etc were taken away. The Continental fans down in Houston are ALSO unhappy.
If being "plain" and having indistinct advertising is what you are calling "mediocrity," it's what the new United is aiming for, and will aim for.
@crackaddict444 Not entirely. Board members of both airlines are "running" the thing- It's because the industry is oligopolizing. Delta merged, and so United strongarmed CO into merging by threatening to merge with US Airways. If CO hadn't taken up United's offer, it might have found itself at a HUGE disadvantage in the airline industry.
Wouldn't you say the headquarters is, erm, a far more important consideration than minor details like liveries, etc. The headquarters = JOBS -- And CO people said that most of the CO rank and file HQ staff was laid off, even though the top bosses are CO people
@VicenteMosin I don't give a rat's ass where the HQ is. When I go to the airport to the supposedly "United" ticket counter, board the "United" plane, see "United" tails lined up, and get "United" safety videos, all I see is Continental. United in name only. This garbage will never be the real United, which is sadly gone.
@crackaddict444 "I don't give a rat's ass where the HQ" - The State of Illinois sure does, because they are paying the airline money to encourage it to have its HQ over there. I'm sure the city of Chicago gives one too, doesn't it?
I wouldn't have minded if the UA livery was there, but the headquarters were in Houston. The "real CO" is gone too.

Absolutely GROSS. The old United videos were far better than this trash, just like all the pre-merger United branding, commericals, and advertising.

@crackaddict444 Hmm... Some United stuff was kind of cool, like the drawings on the website. But I generally like this better than the old UA video
